Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Sparring

Netizens exploded instantly.

[...]

[Ahh, so she's a martial arts major, no wonder she walks with so much swagger, that hair flip and the look in her eyes just killed me.]

[Yeah, she started out pretty high, but usually it's like this—sooner or later, the fate is always a strong start and then a weak finish.]

Renee Morgan walked up to the three guests, ready to greet the female guests first.

"Oh my god, how are there people this good-looking in the world?" Lynn Miller had zero image awareness, mouth wide open, then quickly covered it up.

Renee Morgan: "..."

Lynn Miller seemed ready to fully commit to the bit, covering her mouth as she ran up to Renee Morgan.

Both of them were wearing flat shoes.

The self-proclaimed "tall-alpha girl" Lynn Miller actually ended up shorter than Renee Morgan.

Lynn's eyes landed on Renee's long legs and she was instantly stunned, feeling a bit hurt: "Damn, we're about the same height but your legs reach up to my waist…"

The production team zoomed in, letting the audience see for themselves how Renee Morgan's long legs really did reach Lynn's waist, showing off those insane proportions.

The screen blew up again: [Holy shit, this is destruction, this must be the legendary golden ratio figure!]

[With that body, she could enter any beauty pageant and get top three, easy.]

[This girl is living proof that everything below the neck is legs.]

Renee gave Lynn a slightly embarrassed smile: "My legs just look good, they're useless really. Coach Miller's legs have way more power."

Lynn was instantly healed: "..."

Netizens were on their knees for that high EQ, flooding the screen: [Ahhh, I want those useless legs!]

[Goddess-level looks and such a sweet mouth, I'm obsessed!]

The guests each had a copy of everyone's info for the variety show.

Lynn Miller was a Taekwondo coach.

Lynn obviously knew who Renee Morgan was—a newcomer who just entered the entertainment industry.

Not a big star, basically no difference from regular people.

The photos were ordinary, but the real person was beauty that pictures could never capture.

Lynn wasn't exactly a looks stan, but now she wanted to become a major fan of just Renee's face.

The two girls sat down and quickly started chatting.

The two male guests awkwardly wanted to fidget with their feet.

But soon, new guests arrived at the scene.

The fifth to arrive was Wendy Aldridge.

Yep, the very same one from the dream, the one who used Morgan as a stepping stone and is destined go viral from this show—Wendy Aldridge.

Wendy Aldridge was the same age as Renee Morgan, both newbies in the entertainment circle, both had decent looks and figures, and both graduated as acting majors from prestigious schools—just from different schools. After the production team read out her profile, netizens exploded again, instantly comparing Renee Morgan to Wendy Aldridge.

Those two were destined to be each other's benchmark.

With comparisons come damage.

Lynn Miller secretly checked the livestream on her phone, got close to Renee's ear and said, "Morgan, the livestream has a PK vote going—who looks better, you or Wendy Aldridge."

Renee Morgan just realized all these cameras were for live broadcast, not pre-recorded.

Looks like things were already diverging from what happened in the dream.

Is that a good thing?

Renee asked curiously: "Show me."

Lynn clicked on the floating PK tab, and right away saw two big names: Renee Morgan vs Wendy Aldridge.

Title: Who will be the prettiest "Military Green Flower"?

Below were the vote counts.

Renee Morgan 2899, Wendy Aldridge 201.

Renee Morgan: "..."

But their vote counts were still rising.

The "here for the drama" crowd flooded the screen, rallying everyone to vote for Wendy Aldridge, blasting her up to 250.

Renee Morgan: "..."

After Wendy greeted everyone, she snagged the center spot on the sofa, knew they were live, didn't dare take out her phone, and kept the same mysteriously confident smile the whole time.

All the guests soon arrived, a total of eight—four men, four women—each team with a civilian recruit, with jobs ranging from female Taekwondo coach to international second-level athlete. Both sides had two C-list celebs; Renee Morgan and Wendy Aldridge were the two newbie actresses on the women's side, and both teams had a once-famous, now-faded movie king and queen.

Eight guests, split into male and female teams, temporarily moved into the hotel, then left together in the morning.

Renee Morgan, Wendy Aldridge, Lynn Miller, and former movie queen Zara Chapman were led by the crew up to the big suite on the eighteenth floor.

The suite had two bedrooms and a living area.

Zara Chapman listened to the arrangements, pressed her manicured nails to her nose and said, "Sorry, but I have some old health issues, my sleep's not great, I'm not used to sharing a room. How about you three squeeze in together?"

She's a movie queen, no way would she share a room with these nobodies.

If she really did, it'd be like slapping herself in the face in broad daylight.

The director's team explained from the side: "Ms. Chapman, each room has two single beds, so it shouldn't affect your rest…"

Zara interrupted: "I know, but even in the same room, I'd be disturbed."

The crew was torn: "But the other room only has two single beds, wouldn't three people be pretty cramped…"

The assistant that came to talk was extra polite and cautious.

Zara got even more impatient, pointing to the living room: "Why don't you just move a bed out from my room and put it in the living room?"

If it were a guy, maybe, but making a girl sleep in a totally unprivate living room—who'd agree to that?

Everyone looked at each other awkwardly.

The live camera zoomed in on the four members' faces, capturing every tiny emotion shift.

Especially the two entertainment industry newbies, Renee Morgan and Wendy Aldridge.

Zara Chapman was a former movie queen—past her prime, but she still had her legacy. The newbies couldn't afford to offend her, or else they'd get slapped with the "disrespectful to seniors" label.

Renee Morgan and Wendy Aldridge both understood how it worked. As newbies, if they didn't get these unspoken rules, they shouldn't expect to get famous—they could disappear overnight.

Of the three, only Lynn Miller was a civilian. Hearing Zara wanted a whole room to herself made her pretty annoyed. If her health was that bad, she shouldn't be filming a variety show. If it was just a minor illness, people could understand and give extra care—but the crew had said each room had two single beds, and she still acted like this? Isn't that just being a nuisance?

Lynn immediately said: "Ms. Chapman, I'll share a room with you. If you're not feeling well, I've got experience taking care of sick people."

Ms. Chapman frowned: "I don't even know you. Why would I let you take care of me?"

Lynn snickered inside, but put on a cheery smile: "Well, since you're sick, it's only right for me to take care of you."

The tone sounded like she was actually calling her sick.

"You!" Zara was so angry her face changed. If not for the camera right there, she would've started something.

Lynn eyed the raised hand, rubbed her knuckles, and beamed: "Is Ms. Chapman suggesting she wants to spar with me? That's cool, exercise is good for body and mind!"
