The shop front was bought a few years ago.
The Chen Family all have jobs and aren't interested in running a business, so the shop has always been rented out.
The previous tenant also ran a food business, but perhaps their skills weren't great, or maybe for other reasons, the business didn't do well and only lasted a few months.
It's been a few months since they moved out.
These days, it's not easy to earn and save money, so no one dares to invest lightly in a business, which is why the Chen Family's shop has remained vacant and hasn't been rented out yet.
The Chen Family isn't particularly in need of the money, so they're not in a rush to rent out the shop.
It's no big deal if no one rents it, but if someone comes asking to rent, that's even better.
If the place stays empty, it's wasted space, but renting it out would bring in some extra cash, so why not?
