Michael slowed the car to a smooth halt, before them rose a massive castle, its towering walls carved from dark stone that glimmered faintly beneath the moonlight. Tall spires pierced the night sky like spears, and ancient runes glowed softly along the edges of the structure, pulsing as though the castle itself were alive.
Emily stepped out first, her silver gown catching the light as it flowed gracefully around her ankles.
Amelia followed. The moment her feet touched the ground, her breath hitched.
At the entrance stood a colossal bird statue, wings spread wide in a silent display of dominance. Jagged thorns crowned its head like a twisted halo, and its eyes crafted from dark gemstones seemed almost watchful.
It feels like it's staring at me, Amelia thought uneasily.
