Thank you Za_Bakk and Blu_Dee for the power stones
Zoe cupped Amelia's face gently, worry clouding her eyes.
"Amelia… are you alright?"
Amelia pulled back from the embrace, forcing a small smile.
"I'm fine, Aunty Zoe."
She leaned in to kiss Zoe's cheeks, then carefully helped her settle back against the pillows. Emily stood nearby, watching with a soft smile. The bond between them felt less like aunt and niece and more like a mother and daughter who had weathered too much together.
Amelia dragged a chair closer and sat beside the bed.
"How are you feeling now?"
Zoe smiled.
"The doctor says I can finally be discharged."
Amelia's eyes widened.
"Really?"
Zoe nodded.
"Yes."
Relief washed over Amelia. She helped Emily adjust the pillows and made sure Zoe was comfortable. When Zoe drifted into rest, Amelia glanced out the window. The sky was dark, the hospital grounds quiet.
"We can't leave tonight" she said softly. "It's already late."
She turned back to them.
