"Ned? What are you doing!" Jonathan couldn't stop him in time—Ned had already tumbled off the bed.
His leg was still encased in a heavy cast; there was no way he could get out of bed, let alone walk!
"Let me out—I have to find her!"
"But—"
"She can't leave! She can't go anywhere!" He collapsed onto the floor with a limp, yet roared like a madman. "I will absolutely never let her leave my side!"
"You can't go anywhere right now!" Jonathan suppressed the unbearable pity in his heart and spoke to him cruelly. "Besides, she's already married!"
Ned suddenly went still.
Then tears began to crawl freely across his contorted face once more.
He wasn't unaware of the truth—he simply refused to accept it.
And in this moment, as the brutal reality finally sank in, severing any possibility of him continuing to cling stubbornly…
The pain was excruciating.
"Why?!" he roared, burying his face between his knees. The deep, wrenching agony struck at the iron will he had always possessed.
