The woman beside Kael was striking in a way that made something uncomfortable twist in my chest. Tall, with pale blue hair that fell in elegant waves past her shoulders. She wore a flowing dress in deep purple that seemed to shimmer with each step. It had a large emblem of the full moon on her back. Her posture was perfect, confident, and the way she leaned slightly toward Kael as she spoke suggested a familiarity that made my skin prickle.
Kael's expression was tight, focused entirely on whatever she was saying. He didn't even glance in my direction, even though I was certain he could sense me standing there. Their discussion seemed very important with how much he paid attention to her.
The woman's hand brushed his arm as she gestured, and that uncomfortable feeling intensified into something sharper.
"Ah… Surprised to see Karla here," Darnel muttered, his gaze following mine.
