To slay a god with a sword—
and even leave behind sword scars that suppress divine resentment!
All who witnessed it, even the demons themselves, stood utterly dumbfounded.
Humans… could truly reach such heights?!
"Unbelievable…" murmured Liuyun Borrowing the Wind True Monarch, awe still shimmering in her eyes.
Gu Chen, the man before them, was not born of Teyvat.
He was an immortal from beyond the realm—
but at his core, still a human.
A human who had transcended every boundary of mortality.
And now, that very human had felled a god beneath his blade!
"So this… is the power of a Human Immortal?"
Moon-Cutting and Sun-Forging True Monarch whispered in disbelief.
"This is a level we can only dream of reaching…" added Mountain-Shaping True Monarch.
"To have such a man on our side is truly the fortune of the Geo Lord himself."
The immortals were stunned.
The mortals were beyond words.
Upon learning that Gu Chen was, in essence, human, many could hardly believe it.
How could a man possess such strength?
And yet—
there he stood.
Proof undeniable.
Clack.
The long sword slid quietly into its sheath.
Gu Chen carried it upon his back and strode across the scarred battlefield.
Wherever his gaze swept, demons shrank away, trembling.
One creature fled first—
then, like frightened beasts before wildfire, the rest scattered, fleeing in terror.
They had not expected to encounter such a being here.
Even a god had perished to his blade.
In this savage era, the title of "God" itself symbolized supremacy.
Among gods there were stronger and weaker,
but between any god and lesser life lay an impassable chasm.
Even immortals were but large ants before divinity.
And yet—this man had proven otherwise.
A god?
Then let it be cut down by the sword!
The Millelith were stirred to the core.
Blood boiled; hearts burned with pride.
Weapons were raised high as they shouted and gave chase to the fleeing demons.
For the first time, the hunted became the hunters.
Not long after, the battlefield fell silent—no demon in sight.
For generations, mortals had been helpless before the fiends.
Today, they had driven them off—
thanks to the calm, sword-bearing figure who walked among them.
Just a glance from him—sharp as a blade—
was enough to send demons into madness and terror.
Reuniting with the other immortals, Gu Chen was met with stares that mixed awe and disbelief.
"We knew you were strong," Liuyun said, "but never imagined… this strong!"
"Merely luck," Gu Chen replied lightly. "I happened to come across an unnamed sword scripture—two techniques, nothing more."
"Two sword strikes to kill a god," Mountain-Shaping True Monarch laughed. "Your name will echo across the continent."
Gu Chen only smiled.
He had no interest in fame.
Soon, the immortals busied themselves healing the wounded Millelith.
As long as there was breath left, immortals could pull a soldier back from death.
Even Gu Chen lent his aid.
When the soldiers saw him, their eyes lit up with reverence—
as though meeting a living legend.
Some even asked if he truly was human.
When he nodded, cheers erupted.
"The path of cultivation is treacherous," Gu Chen said quietly.
"Only one in ten thousand can walk it."
The soldiers grew silent—awed and regretful.
How they wished they too could gain the strength to protect their homeland.
[Kaeya]: Looks like the Human Immortal isn't quite on the same level as the Grand Master himself—his imported knowledge is far less complete.
[Chongyun]: At this point, I half-suspect the Master literally transplanted an entire sect into Teyvat.
[Kirara]: Doesn't matter! The Master or the Human Immortal—they're both amazing! (sparkly eyes)
[Yae Miko]: Unfortunately, little cat, you're not human. Cultivation won't be easy for you. (shrugs)
[Kirara]: Uuuh, that's mean, Miko-senpai! (sniffles)
[Gu Chen]: It's not impossible for non-humans—just… harder. Keep trying, you'll manage. (Zhongli smirk)
[Keqing]: By the way, the Geo Lord's been gone a while looking for the God of the Heart. Think he ran into trouble? What if he and Azhdaha started fighting first?! (Paimon shocked)
[Azhdaha]: I don't remember that part of history! @[Zhongli]—you explain!
[Zhongli]: No cause for worry.
[Venti]: (adds a meme of Zhongli with a smug dragon grin)
[Zhongli]: …Anyway, the Heart God's power is peculiar, but I was well-prepared. If there's any delay, it's likely because my past self met Havria—the Dust King—and discussed an alliance.
[Guizhong]: Huh? (blank face)
[Madame Ping]: He's talking about the Dust King Guizhong of our era.
[Guizhong]: Ohhh, right. (nods)
[Zhongli]: Once we allied, the Millelith's strength grew immensely. Together, we could sweep the land clean.
[Kaeya]: So that alliance marked a new era? "Sweep the four corners of the world"—even the phrase gets my blood pumping!
[Zhongli]: Haha, perhaps—but it wasn't without peril.
[Osial]: Not to brag, but I was one of those perils. Don't ask. I'm already bracing for Gu Bro to stab me in one hit. (Qiqi faint)
[Dvalin]: (funny face)
[Azhdaha]: You're really bringing down the sect's average IQ, you know that? (Nahida pointing meme)
[Osial]: What can I say? In that timeline, I was just being smart enough to survive! (Qiqi faint again)
News of the god-slaying soon reached Morax.
He and Azhdaha hurried back, astonished at what they heard.
"Gu Chen… slew a god?!" Morax exclaimed.
"So this is the Human Immortal…" Azhdaha murmured.
It was wholly unexpected—but fortunate.
Without Gu Chen, the settlement might have fallen.
"We'll need to station more strength here in future," Azhdaha said gravely.
Morax nodded, glancing at the captured Yaksha clan once enslaved by the Heart God.
They were fierce—second only to the gods themselves.
"Let's return at once," Morax ordered.
Back at his domain, the immortals were rewarded according to merit.
Gu Chen accepted the formalities only for the sake of order—
for in a growing realm, reward and punishment must both be clear.
Soon after, Morax gathered the immortals.
"Havria seeks an alliance?" Liuyun Borrowing the Wind frowned.
"She's not strong, and in this chaotic age, her people suffer. My might offers her shelter," Morax explained. "In turn, her craftwork and creations will strengthen us."
"No need to doubt—she and I have already sealed the contract."
The immortals considered, then nodded in agreement.
And thus the migration began.
Before long, both domains united.
The Refuge of Return—Gui Li Ji—was born, its population surpassing a hundred thousand.
Old dwellings were abandoned; a new age began.
Gu Chen, however, preferred walking among mortals,
finding peace not in lofty caves but in the flow of the human world.
Soon, his legend spread everywhere—
"The Human Immortal who slew a God."
Technically inaccurate, perhaps,
for he was no longer truly human—
but such is how legends are told.
One day, the Qilin Clan Chief came to report family matters.
Gu Chen leaned quietly nearby, listening.
"Our young qilin… and a human… well—"
Liuyun stifled a laugh.
"It was an accident! Pure coincidence!" the clan chief protested. "But you know, mortals live barely a century… it's doomed to tragedy when long-lived and short-lived species fall in love!"
Morax cleared his throat.
"Do any of you have a solution?"
The immortals thought, then turned toward Gu Chen.
"I'll take a look," he said, and soon returned shaking his head.
"No way around it. Her aptitude is too low, her bones too frail. She cannot tread the path of longevity."
The Qilin Chief sighed, heart heavy.
"Let this be a lesson," Morax said gently.
"Our young must understand: between the long-lived and the mortal lies inevitable sorrow. Make that clear, and there'll be no needless pain."
All agreed.
[Liuyun]: Hahaha, so Ganyu's about to be born! (Venti throws confetti)
[Ganyu]: (>﹏<) Don't tease me…
[Paimon]: Just imagine Gu Bro holding a little blue cocogoat baby! (Hu Tao mischievous grin)
[Yae Miko]: Fate truly works in mysterious ways. (Ganyu shy blush)
[Ganyu]: I think so too… but if Father's gone due to age, Mother must have been so lonely. (Sucrose sad)
[Gu Chen]: Indeed. That's the sorrow of longevity—when one passes, the other bears all the pain. That's why cultivation must spread, so that all may live long together. (Zhongli smug dragon)
[Furina]: I have seen the light! So that's why the Master teaches immortality—to let everyone become long-lived! (Paimon shocked)
[Venti]: Wait, what?!
[Kaeya]: I get it now! If everyone's immortal, then it's totally fine for the Master to have dozens of wives, right?! (meme face)
[Gu Chen]: Hey! Don't slander me! The Great Sect Master of the Taixuan Sect acts only for the good of all beings! (Zhongli smug dragon)
Sometimes, truth hides best in jest.
Gu Chen looked entirely serious—though perhaps a bit guilty inside.
After all, everything the Sect Master does is for the sake of the people! (…honestly!)
[Kaeya]: So who started that rumor again? Was it Lady Furina?! (Nahida pointing meme)
[Furina]: It was Neuvillette typing! Not me! (shakes head violently)
[Neuvillette]: …
[Navia]: (Paimon shocked face)
Morax and Azhdaha often led campaigns abroad,
with Gu Chen fighting alongside them.
His swordsmanship was unmatched—
foes would fall before even realizing they'd been struck.
He now wielded the might of a mid-tier god,
and that was enough to make the Gui Li Ji alliance flourish.
Their wars brought prosperity;
the population soon exceeded three hundred thousand.
From the eastern seas to the western peaks of Jueyun Karst,
Morax's domain spanned vast lands.
The immortals especially loved the mists and cliffs of Jueyun Karst.
A year later, under the pale moonlight,
a qilin left a bamboo basket before a herbalist's door—
then vanished into the fog.
Inside, the herbalist found a sleeping infant.
At once, he recalled the qilin's past visits.
"What should I do…?" he murmured, holding the child.
"She bears both human and immortal blood. Her future will be far beyond mine."
Just then, shouts rose outside.
"Look! Isn't that an immortal?!"
"It is! The one who slew a god!"
Through the crowd walked a young man in white—calm, ethereal, sword on his back.
Even at a glance, the herbalist knew—Gu Chen.
Heart pounding, he rushed forward, cradling the infant and kneeling.
"True Monarch! Please—take this child!"
Gu Chen halted.
"Why?"
"She is the blood of human and immortal," the herbalist said softly.
"I cannot raise her to her potential. But under your care, she may one day serve the Geo Lord himself."
Gu Chen looked down.
The baby had woken, wide eyes blinking curiously up at him.
"Your mind is set?"
"I will never regret it," the herbalist answered firmly.
