Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: The Dangerous Machine Army

Submarimon is an aquatic, Armor-level Digimon that Armor Digivolves through the power of the Digi-Egg of Reliability. The Digi-Egg of Reliability possesses the attribute of "Water," and by using it, its bearer can display their true power underwater. It can swim freely through the ocean, and in battle, the techniques it unleashes one after another beneath the surface are beyond what ordinary aquatic Digimon can compete with. Its special moves are Oxygen Homing, which fires ultra-high-pressure oxygen, and Submarine Attack, where it gains distance underwater, spins the drill on its nose to accelerate in one burst, and rams the enemy with its body.

Submarimon opened the hatch on its front like a submarine, letting Cody ride on as if he were the pilot.

"Cody, let's fight together," Submarimon said.

After leaping into the depths, Submarimon quickly spotted Ikkakumon tangled up with two Ebidramon. But since Gomamon had been injured earlier, it was clearly no match for them—while Flamedramon and Halsemon were struggling as well, already on the verge of passing out.

"Submarimon, get Flamedramon and Halsemon out first," Cody said. "Sorry, Ikkakumon—hang on. We'll come back for you in a moment."

Seeing Submarimon arrive, Ikkakumon stopped trying to flee and instead threw itself into a chaotic melee with the two Ebidramon, holding them back so Submarimon could rescue Flamedramon and Halsemon.

With a loud splash, Submarimon surfaced, carrying the already de-digivolved Hawkmon and Veemon. After handing the unconscious Veemon and Hawkmon back to their partners, Cody mounted Submarimon again and dove back down. By then, Ikkakumon had been completely suppressed by the two Ebidramon, unable to mount any effective counterattack—only struggling uselessly.

"Ikkakumon!" Cody shouted.

"Oxygen Homing!" Submarimon blasted out two jets of ultra-high-pressure oxygen, knocking one Ebidramon flying. Then the drill in front of its nose spun at high speed as it accelerated, slamming its body into the other Ebidramon and knocking it aside.

Ikkakumon hauled itself upright, aimed at the Ebidramon that had fallen and couldn't get up, and fired its finishing move—Harpoon Vulcan. The explosions shattered the Dark Spiral on Ebidramon's body. Freed from the Digimon Emperor's control, the Ebidramon drifted in place, completely at a loss.

Ikkakumon and Submarimon began rising back toward the surface. Seeing them return, the kids on shore—who had been worried sick—finally let out a sigh of relief. The Digimon Emperor had slipped away at some point, and the area at last returned to normal order, no longer under his control.

"A region I just got my hands on, ruined again by those disgusting brats… Just you wait! Next time, I'm absolutely not letting you off!" In his base, the Digimon Emperor stared at the screen, furious—so angry he looked ready to explode.

The plane touched down smoothly on the runway at the airport. A girl with pink hair and a golden star pattern pushed a mountain of luggage out past security. It was Mimi, back from America. Looking at the familiar scenery around her, she couldn't help but sigh with emotion. "It's been so long since I've been back."

Meanwhile, the kids were still going about their everyday routines. Davis was sprawled on his bed, sleeping like he had no bones, snoring loudly. The whole room was a perfect example of a filthy, chaotic base. And the de-digivolved Chibomon (formerly Veemon) wandered through the heaps of messy, unidentifiable junk, calling out to Davis nonstop, trying to wake him up—though the uninterrupted snoring made it clear Chibomon was wasting its effort. After all, since it was a hard-won weekend, for Davis it was nothing but sleep, sleep, and more sleeping in.

Unwilling to give up, Chibomon kept shouting, "Davis, Davis, Davis…"

Finally, under Chibomon's heartfelt cries, Davis forced one eye open to a narrow slit and saw Chibomon bouncing up and down on his stomach. "Morning, Davis!"

"Morning, Chibomon."

Over on the other side, Cody—who insisted on getting up early to train—had already gotten out of bed and started searching for Upamon, who was nowhere to be found… only to freeze when he spotted something with a basket on its head, perched on the table and sneaking food.

"…Sigh."

Nearby, Gatomon stared with wide eyes at Kari, who was helplessly packing various things into her schoolbag. "No way… I have to go in there too, don't I?"

"Yep, Gatomon," Kari said with a sweet smile. She lifted the utterly resigned Gatomon and got ready to stuff it into her backpack.

Gatomon's ears drooped, looking so pitiful that Tai couldn't stand it anymore. He turned around in his chair and looked at Kari—who had already stuffed Gatomon into the backpack. "Kari, why are you shoving Gatomon in there?"

"But if I just carry Gatomon in my arms, isn't that going to look really weird?"

"Then why not just use the computer at home to go to the Digital World?"

"Huh?" Gatomon poked its head out of the backpack, and it and Kari both wore the same shocked expression. "The computer at home can open a door to the Digital World?"

"Why wouldn't it?" Tai said, like there was nothing strange about it at all.

"But… but why didn't you ever tell me?" Kari tilted her head.

"Kari, you never asked."

"Seriously, brother…" Kari opened her D-3 Digivice as she spoke. "I'll tell everyone, so they don't have to wait for me."

"Oh, right—if we go to the Digital World from home, how do we meet up with everyone else?"

"Then we just leave together. As long as we know where everyone's going, that's enough."

"Yeah. Today, since it's the weekend, we're going to the Digital World for a picnic. We've never done that before!" Kari grew more and more excited as she spoke.

"Alright, then I won't go. Kari, have fun," Tai said, patting her head.

"Wait—Kari." Tai reached into his pocket and pulled out a green piece of armor inlaid with the Crest of Sincerity, with a four-pointed shuriken-shaped base beneath it.

"This is…" Kari held the Digi-Armor of Sincerity in both hands, at a loss, her face full of confusion and bafflement—so adorable it was unreal.

"This is the Digi-Armor of Sincerity. Take it and give it to Yolei."

Kari still had a thousand questions, but she didn't ask. She quietly packed it into her backpack, then slung the bag over her shoulder and gave Tai a sweet smile. "I'm leaving, brother."

"Yeah. Have fun."

Meanwhile, the Digimon Emperor piloted his fortress—one that honestly looked like a toilet—drifting slowly through the sky. Really, it was hard to understand what kind of taste he had to build it in that shape.

Inside the pitch-black control room, the Digimon Emperor hammered away at the keyboard. The screen showed a massive city, shrouded beneath a huge energy barrier—seen from afar, it looked like a half-dome egg.

"The next target is to conquer this place." The Digimon Emperor pointed at another screen showing a map of the Digital World. On it was a vast stretch of black squares, yet right in the middle there was a single white dot. He had sent troops to attack that place several times, but each attempt ended in failure. The Digimon Emperor would not allow any part of his territory to refuse his will—so this time, he was driving his fortress in personally, launching a full-scale assault on this disobedient city.

"Ken, we've reached the area not far from the city. If we get any closer, it'll be dangerous," Wormmon reported, crawling up in front of the Digimon Emperor and looking up at him.

"Hmph. This time, I'll conquer it for sure. Deploy all troops! Level this place for me!" The Digimon Emperor shouted, his voice filled with confidence and pride.

"ROAR!" Following the Digimon Emperor's command, the toilet fortress descended in altitude, then released a massive swarm of Digimon—Monochromon, Airdramon, Frigimon, Mojyamon—each fitted with Dark Spirals. Roaring, they charged toward the steel fortress in the distance.

Wooo—wooo—wooo—wooo! Alarms echoed through the steel fortress. On streets that had been completely empty, one exit after another suddenly opened, and countless Guardromon security units marched out, moving toward a single direction, pouring out without end.

A battle of defense and invasion began. The Digimon Emperor's forces caught Tai City off guard. The city had already been in a sealed state before this. Even though the defense program activated in time, it still took time for reinforcements to reach the area—so for now, they could only rely on the forces stationed near the city gates.

In the short term, the Digimon Emperor's troops held the advantage in numbers—but that didn't mean they held the advantage in combat power.

"Damn it—how can this be?!" The Digimon Emperor slammed the keyboard in frustration. On the screen in front of him was the ongoing siege. Organized ranks of Guardromon stood atop the walls, unleashing constant firepower and mowing down the Digimon rushing toward the city.

Wave after wave of Digimon streamed out from pre-arranged bases—ground bases or aerial bases—and ran toward Tai City. Bullets traced arcs overhead; more shells exploded directly in their ranks, blasting one Digimon after another into data and erasing them. Yet they continued launching attacks of their own, knocking Guardromon off the walls, leaving some sparking and immobilized, and others turning into data and vanishing on the spot.

The city walls, once smooth and beautiful, had become riddled with holes. The sandy ground at the city's edge was pocked with craters as bombs kept slamming down, flinging sand into the sky. The battlefield was blanketed in smoke and dust—but beneath that sky, the brutal fighting continued without pause.

The Digimon Emperor's situation was growing worse and worse. As time dragged on, more and more Guardromon arrived, while the Digimon on the Emperor's side had nearly been exhausted. The momentum was already shifting toward the defenders.

"Looks like I can't break through from the front… but my plan was never that simple. The real troops are already inside. Very soon, this city will belong to me. Hahahaha!" The Digimon Emperor fell into another bout of delusion for no reason.
