On the Precursor home planet, within a towering spire composed of biomass, the Precursor leaders gathered in the central rotunda. A projector displayed combat footage of the Emperor-class Titan.
"Incredible. This machine is actually this powerful!" a Precursor scientist remarked.
His tentacles slid across the console, freezing the frame at the moment the Titan descended from the sky, its chainsword cleaving through the carapace of a Leatherback.
"That is no ordinary technology," a high-caste Prophet observed. "Analysis shows that the energy conversion technology contained within that Titan far exceeds our assessment of that world."
Another Precursor extended a tentacle toward the projection, zooming in on the intricate details of the Titan.
"We underestimated the organisms of that world; they have actually mastered such advanced technology."
A sense of unease spread through the rotunda; the Precursors were no longer as composed as before.
"We can wait no longer," the leader decided. "We must occupy that planet before the humans can mass-produce these Titans."
"Sending more powerful monsters is no longer meaningful," one Precursor analyzed. "The strongest biological weapons currently capable of passing through the portal would likely still be unable to rival that Titan. We need to change our strategy."
The leader's tentacles tapped gently against the seat, falling into deep thought.
"Activate the Parasite Initiative," it decided moments later.
Silence fell over the rotunda as the glowing organs of all the Precursors simultaneously turned a cautionary deep red.
"Are you certain you wish to use that? That is the most dangerous biological weapon we have ever discovered," the Science Supervisor couldn't help but question.
The leader's tentacle slammed against the console.
"Precisely because it is dangerous, it can resolve the issue swiftly. Can you not see? Human technological progress has already threatened our expansion plans!"
The Science Supervisor offered no further protest, emitting only a low hiss.
"Activate the Parasitic Beast specimens," the leader issued the final command.
Deep beneath the surface of the Precursor planet, the biological laboratory zones instantly lit up with piercing bioluminescent light. Rows upon rows of transparent containers held countless microscopic organisms. Their outer forms resembled strange insects, yet their interiors possessed complex nervous system structures.
"They are perfect parasites, capable of invading the vast majority of biological bodies, controlling host behavior, and even accelerating the host's evolution and mutation."
The Science Supervisor touched the control panel, and a small container rose from the ground.
"We have added enhanced adaptability and self-evolution mechanisms to them."
Hours later, a massive number of tiny Parasitic Beasts were transported through the Wormhole into Earth's Pacific Ocean. They dispersed rapidly, parasitizing countless marine organisms. Under the control of the Precursors, these Strange Fish swam in unison toward the Kyoto coastline.
...
In front of a live television camera, a female reporter stood on high ground near the coast, reporting the real-time situation with a grim expression.
"We interrupt with an emergency news update. A large number of unknown biological entities have suddenly appeared on the Kyoto coastline. Preliminary assessments suggest a possible connection to the Kaiju. Official emergency evacuation orders have been issued; all citizens please—"
Mid-broadcast, the camera shook violently. The reporter's expression shifted from serious to terrified.
"AHHH!!!"
A scream interrupted her. The camera panned behind her, capturing a bone-chilling scene—thousands of Strange Fish were devouring every living thing, even merging with one another into larger monsters.
"Viewers, the situation is more critical than imagined! These creatures seem to be able to..."
The footage shook violently again, followed by the cameraman's terrified cry. The lens tilted toward the sky before a hideous, gaping maw bit down, shattering the camera.
The live signal cut out.
The entire nation of Japan fell into a panic. People stared at their televisions and internet streams, trying to grasp the latest developments in Kyoto. Major media outlets broadcasted the disaster and government emergency measures continuously, but the speed of the disaster far exceeded expectations.
Meanwhile, the Huaxia international students in Kyoto had all taken refuge inside the embassy.
Just hours before the Strange Fish made landfall, almost all Huaxia students felt an inexplicable premonition. The feeling was hard to describe but exceptionally strong, as if a voice in the depths of their hearts was constantly warning them to leave the coastal areas.
"Did you guys feel it too?" one student asked. "It was like someone was reminding us in our heads."
The other students nodded one after another.
"I started packing my bags for no reason, and ended up at the embassy in a daze," another student chimed in.
When they arrived at the embassy, they still didn't understand what had happened until the news of the Strange Fish invasion broke.
Inside the embassy, hundreds of Huaxia students gathered in the hall, their eyes fixed on the news broadcast on the large screen. On the screen, Kyoto had become a city of nightmares. The streets were filled with sprinting Strange Fish, tearing through any obstacle and devouring every lifeform they encountered. More terrifyingly, they were constantly merging and evolving, forming increasingly massive monsters.
"My god, if it weren't for that strange guidance, I might have been killed by the monsters by now," a female student said tremblingly, pointing to the area of her university on the screen, which had already been overrun.
Everyone was filled with lingering fear, while simultaneously feeling grateful toward this mysterious power.
However, not all Huaxia students were so lucky. Those who had fallen deeply in love with Japanese culture or even harbored hostility toward their motherland did not receive this mysterious guidance. The embassy staff was working hard to compile a list of missing persons, but the outlook was grim.
The footage on the screen shifted to the skies above Kyoto. Helicopter cameras captured massive clusters of monsters. They were no longer simple Strange Fish but terrifying beasts merged from countless organisms and construction materials.
One particularly massive monster was using its giant claws to dig into the ground, attempting to breach an underground shelter. Several equally large monsters nearby were assisting it, having already dug a shocking crater. Piercing cries of despair echoed from within the shelter.
"There's a shelter there!" a student cried out. "There are at least ten thousand people inside!"
Just as everyone held their breath, several transport helicopters flew rapidly toward the battlefield. The towing hooks released, and the Gipsy Danger Jaeger descended like a god from the heavens, falling directly into the swarm of monsters.
The Jaeger landed with a thundering crash, shaking the earth and sending dust flying. It sent the primary digging monster flying with a single kick. Upon landing, it performed a roll, crushing several houses before standing up and assuming a combat stance.
Cheers erupted from within the shelter. "The Jaeger is here!"
On the screen, more Jaegers arrived from all directions to provide support, engaging the monster swarm in a fierce battle. Plasma cannons roared, and massive alloy fists collided with monster flesh; the deafening sound of metal impacts echoed through the screen.
But anyone could see that the battle situation was not optimistic. These monsters were different from previous Kaiju; they could rapidly adapt to the Jaegers' attack patterns and even evolve continuously during combat. Worse still, their numbers were simply too great.
Gipsy Danger shattered a monster with a single punch, but the fragments were quickly absorbed by other monsters, forming even stronger individuals.
The broadcast continued.
On the screen, the Jaegers were fighting with all their might, but more than half of Kyoto had already fallen, becoming a playground for the monsters. The live footage was frequently interrupted by static, and the signal grew increasingly unstable.
While all the Jaegers on the field were struggling against the Kaiju, they failed to notice that a portion of the Kaiju had entered the seawater. They formed an array, blue energy surging from within their bodies. As the energy converged, the spatial fluctuations beneath the water became increasingly violent.
They were constructing a Wormhole?!
