Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Swellow, Latias, and Latios

The next morning.

Swellow flew from deep within the forest towards Kawaki's Breeding House, as it usually did.

These days, it spent eighty percent of its time in this small Breeding House, freeloading food and drink to fill its belly.

From a distance, Swellow saw the house standing at the edge of the forest.

And Kawaki, standing at the door, seemingly waiting for it to arrive.

Kawaki was holding a plate of Energy Cubes.

The white ceramic plate was filled with sparkling, translucent cubes, which were quite eye-catching just by looking at them. As the taste of those small cubes came to mind, Swellow's mouth began to water uncontrollably.

It was already impatient to start enjoying this delicious meal!

"Chirp!"

Swellow landed on the ground. After evolving, its size had increased from 0.3 meters to nearly one meter, almost as big as a Growlithe.

Correspondingly, its appetite had also increased significantly.

Kawaki had anticipated this, so he had prepared much more Energy Cubes today than before.

Swellow greeted Kawaki, then lowered its head and began to enjoy the meal.

It ate with great pleasure, utterly absorbed in its food.

Kawaki patiently waited by its side. Only when Swellow had finished all the Energy Cubes and raised its head contentedly did he present an apple pie.

"Swellow, this is a new dish I've researched. Would you like to try it?" Kawaki asked with a smile.

Hearing this, Swellow looked up.

The next second, it saw a very familiar food in this human's hand and smelled that familiar aroma wafting from it.

"Chirp?"

Seeing this apple pie, Swellow instantly remembered something.

Isn't this the food that Pokémon likes to eat? it thought.

When it was still a Taillow, it lived in the cold north. To escape the cold, it specifically migrated south, freeloading food and drink along the way until it reached the vicinity of Fallarbor Town.

At that time, it had encountered those two Pokémon. While it was freeloading food and drink from others, those two Pokémon were also secretly eating other people's apple pies there.

However, they were very cautious and didn't let anyone discover them, and after eating the apple pie, they flew away directly.

The apple pie Kawaki made also looked quite delicious.

Kawaki was also particularly kind. Not only did he let it freeload food and drink for free every day, but he also specially researched more delicious food for it.

Swellow felt that if those two Pokémon came to freeload food and drink, Kawaki would definitely prepare delicious apple pies for them like this.

That way, they wouldn't have to be sneaky anymore. If they were discovered by humans one day, they might even be taught a lesson and driven away, which would not be good.

If I encounter them again, I'll invite them to eat here! Swellow thought.

After finishing the Energy Cubes, Swellow bid farewell to Kawaki, turned and flew into the sky, going for a stroll.

Kawaki stared blankly at Swellow's departing back.

He couldn't help but wonder: Is that all?

Will Swellow really invite Latias and Latios to the Breeding House?

As far as he knew, the gifts provided by his golden finger, whether information or moves, were unknown to the Pokémon. They were purely gifts formed from their gratitude and joy.

From this, it could be inferred that from Swellow's perspective, it did not know that Kawaki already had information about Latias and Latios.

Realizing this, Kawaki couldn't help but doubt the information provided by that intel. Swellow hadn't shown any special behavior just now. Could it really call Latias and Latios over?

Kawaki didn't know.

All he could do now was wait.

Kawaki returned to the Breeding House and began a new day of business.

Early in the morning, the Breeding House was already bustling.

Castform watering with Rain Dance, Oddish and Bulbasaur cooperating to tend crops, Growlithe training by running in the backyard, Clefairys playing on the grass, and little Gastly peeking out from under the counter, deliberately trying to scare Kawaki.

"Gengar!"

Gastly made a scary face.

Kawaki: "..."

Kawaki didn't feel scared, because he knew this was Gastly's way of playing with people.

Just as Kawaki was about to say something, the sound of a Chingling rang out from outside the door.

A young man with a backpack walked in from outside.

A customer had arrived!

"Alright, Gastly, wait for me for a bit. We can play later, okay?" Kawaki said.

"Gengar---" Gastly looked at the customer, then at Kawaki, and then happily agreed:

"Gengar~!"

"Hello, how may I help you?" Kawaki politely greeted the customer.

The young man looked around the layout of the Breeding House, his gaze falling on the sign hanging on the wall behind the counter.

It read:

[Breeding House Main Services]

[1. Pokémon Boarding]

[2. Currently Teachable Moves: Baby-Doll Eyes, Tackle, Sleep Powder, Swords Dance, Protect, Toxic, Odor Sleuth, Vine Whip...]

[4. Rare Item Transactions: Common Stone, Big Root.]

[5. Large-scale Purchase of Items: Moon Stone!]

[6. Food and Lodging.]

There was also another sign next to it.

[Bewear Inn]

[5000 alliance coin/night]

[Bewear Restaurant currently offers: Ramen 800/bowl, White Porridge 300/bowl, Berry Juice 100/cup, Sandwich 500/serving, Pokémon Snacks 500/serving, Fresh Milk 600/cup, Egg Fried Rice 900/bowl, Apple Pie 800 alliance coin/serving]

Kawaki was not in a hurry, patiently waiting for the customer to browse the "menu."

After a while, the young man finally looked up and asked, "Boss, can you help train Pokémon and arrange battle strategies here?"

"Arrange battle strategies?" Kawaki was momentarily stunned.

"That's right, it's about helping to think of what move combinations Pokémon can use in battles!" The young man nodded eagerly.

He was not very smart, and his battles relied entirely on brute-forcing offensive moves. This fighting style had caused him to lose many times and be ridiculed by other Trainers as a reckless idiot.

Therefore, he wanted to try to change his battle style, which might allow him and his Pokémon to go further on this path!

"The Breeding House does not offer this service," Kawaki replied with some regret. This work should ideally be arranged by the Trainer themselves.

"Ah? It doesn't?" The young man's face immediately fell with disappointment.

Seeing his dejected look, Kawaki thought carefully.

In fact, as a transmigrator, he did know quite a few battle strategies.

Like weather teams, Tailwind strategies, Trick Room strategies, Perish Song tactics, and even many dirty tricks.

But these didn't seem to fit the main business of the Breeding House. In other words, it wasn't part of his job description.

However, seeing the young man's disappointed face, Kawaki couldn't help but ask, "Can I ask why you want someone else to help arrange battle strategies?"

"Because I don't really understand these things—" The young man scratched his head, explaining the reason: "My Pokémon and I always just rely on offensive moves to brute-force battles. Others always say we're reckless idiots, but we really aren't very good at it—so I wanted to come and learn. Maybe this way, my Pokémon and I can go further on this path!"

Kawaki was slightly pleased.

A reckless fighting style that doesn't care about team composition and tactics?

That certainly won't get them far.

Looking at the young man, Kawaki pondered for a moment and said, "Let me see your Pokémon first!"

Seeing an opportunity, the young man's face lit up, and he quickly took out a Poké Ball.

A flash of white light, and a Pokémon with a pair of large black bat wings on its back appeared before Kawaki's eyes.

This is... Gliscor?

[Pokémon: Gliscor]

[Type: Ground, Flying]

[Gender: Male]

[Ability: Poison Heal]

[Moves: Sand Attack, Harden, Poison Jab, Fire Fang, Cross Poison, Substitute]

[Status: Healthy]

[Mood: Disappointed, Sad]

[Joy Value: -20]

[Friendship: 0 (You are strangers)]

[Description: If I can defeat the opponent, I can help my Trainer. —Gliscor.]

Looking at the small dark cloud above Gliscor's head, Kawaki was at a loss for words.

From the moves it knew, this Gliscor seemed to have evolved a bit early, so it hadn't learned the moves it should have learned during its Gligar stage.

How should one arrange a battle strategy for such a Pokémon?

Kawaki observed all the moves in its move pool, as well as its Ability.

A possibility quickly emerged in his mind.

SubToxic!

This Gliscor had already learned Substitute, and the Breeding House just happened to be able to teach Protect and Toxic. Coupled with its Ability, Poison Heal—

It was almost a perfect fit.
