Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Gastly's Fantasy

Looking at the scene inside the house, Gastly couldn't help but fantasize.

It imagined itself in the role of those Pokémon.

It was another rainy day.

It and Kawaki were snuggled on the sofa.

A mountain of Berries was laid out before them.

Kawaki gently picked up a Berry and fed it to him.

After eating the Berries, Kawaki accompanied him as he ran freely on the grass, with him running in front and Kawaki chasing behind. The grass was filled with their joyful laughter, sounding so incredibly happy!

But a dream is just a dream.

The cold rain woke Gastly from his fantasy.

He looked at the scene inside the house and said dejectedly, "Kek…"

Inside the house.

"Goo?"

Bewear suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure by the window.

Kawaki, who was feeding Growlithe bone biscuits, noticed Bewear's actions and was a little surprised: "What's wrong, Bewear?"

He instinctively looked in the direction Bewear was staring, and then saw a familiar figure outside the window.

A Pokémon made of purple, gaseous matter.

That was… Gastly?

Kawaki was slightly taken aback. Why did Gastly suddenly come here?

Although he was a little confused, he remembered that it was raining outside. Even though it was already spring, the weather was still unpredictable, and the rain carried a hint of chill. It wouldn't be good if he got sick from not being careful.

Thinking of this, Kawaki stood up and walked towards Gastly.

As he opened the window, Gastly seemed startled and quickly looked up.

"Gastly?" Kawaki called out.

He looked up ahead and didn't see Ralts or Chansey, so he figured this little Gastly must have come by himself.

However, Pokémon like Gastly are naturally restless, and mischief is their synonym, so it's quite normal for him to run over.

Suddenly seeing Kawaki, Gastly seemed a little scared. He froze in place, momentarily forgetting to move.

"Kek…"

Seeing Gastly like this, Kawaki couldn't help but chuckle.

"Come in first!"

He moved aside, gesturing for Gastly to come in.

Gastly, however, stared blankly inside, muttering, "Kek…"

Could he really go in?

The fantasy suddenly becoming reality made Gastly feel like he was dreaming.

"Come in and sit for a bit!" Kawaki invited again.

Gastly looked at Kawaki, feeling a little excited, and then cautiously floated into the house.

All the Pokémon in the house were looking at him, which made Gastly nervous.

Kawaki focused his attention, and the next second, the detailed information of this little Gastly appeared before his eyes.

[Description: A dream come true! — Gastly.]

Hmm?

Gastly is very nervous right now? Is it because he saw him?

Kawaki was a little surprised, but what was that "dream come true" about?

"Don't worry, the Pokémon here are all very friendly, no one will hurt you." Kawaki soothed Gastly's emotions, and then introduced the Pokémon in the Breeding House to him one by one.

Growlithe, Bewear, Clefairy, Chingling, Castform…

Gastly stared blankly at the Pokémon in front of him, nodding foolishly, indicating that he remembered them.

"Have something to eat!"

Kawaki sat on another empty sofa, then picked up a Pokémon snack from the table and offered it to Gastly.

Gastly had no hands, so he could only take it with his mouth, chew a few times, and then swallow it.

His eyes lit up, as if he had never eaten anything so delicious before.

Kawaki smiled: "These are snacks for you to eat, but you can't eat them as a meal!"

Saying that, he picked up another snack and offered it.

Gastly nodded and ate the snack.

Seeing the child like this, Kawaki couldn't help but feel a little pained.

"Eat more!"

"Kek…" Gastly responded indistinctly.

The other Pokémon in the Breeding House also looked at this scene in surprise.

They had never seen him eat like this before.

After Gastly stopped eating and let out a satisfied burp, Kawaki spoke again:

"Do you remember where you used to live?"

"Kek…" Gastly recalled carefully, and then said, "Kek!"

He used to live in a cemetery where there were almost no humans, and even very few Pokémon.

Since Gastly first gained consciousness, he had lived there alone.

At that time, he had never felt lonely.

But suddenly one day, two humans went there.

Gastly originally wanted to prank them and play with them, but when those two humans saw him, it was as if they had seen some treasure. They immediately had powerful Pokémon attack him and then captured him.

After that, he and other Pokémon were locked in special iron cages and transported by a truck to a very, very distant place, so far that Gastly no longer remembered the way back.

Finally, they were separated, and he and Chansey were locked deep in that underground waterway.

Until they were rescued by Kawaki.

Gastly kept saying "Kek kek."

Kawaki didn't understand a word, but he still maintained a listening posture, and finally, based on Gastly's expression, he gently said, "It must have been very hard, wasn't it?"

Recalling his previous terrifying experience, and now facing Kawaki's concern, Gastly instantly became teary-eyed.

"Kek…!"

The other surrounding Pokémon also looked at this scene with moved expressions.

Kawaki slowly sighed, reached out tentatively and stroked Gastly's head, comforting him: "Don't worry, that kind of thing will never happen again. Things will slowly get better."

Gastly looked up at this human, then nodded vigorously: "Kek!"

After this comfort, although Gastly's happiness value didn't increase much, Kawaki noticed that his affection had soared from 30 to 60.

With this level of affection, if he proposed the idea of catching Gastly, this Gastly would probably agree without hesitation.

But Kawaki didn't do that.

He looked in the direction of the shed and said, "In the future, when you're bored, come to the Breeding House! We're all here, and if you want to move here, of course you can, but you have to talk to Chansey and the others first, or they'll worry about you."

"Kek…?"

Hearing this, Gastly looked over with a face full of disbelief.

Can he really?

Can he also live here with Clefairy and everyone else?

It feels… like a dream!
