Chapter 85: What is the Pirate King?

However, despite foreseeing his end, Galdino, suspended in mid-air, had no power to change direction.

He could only watch helplessly as he crashed into Luffy's highly elastic rubber belly like a meteorite!

Luffy's abdomen was compressed into a shocking dent, absorbing and accumulating all the impact force, and then...

Bang!!!

An irresistible, massive elastic force erupted suddenly!

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

Amidst Galdino's desperate, piercing screams, he and the clumsy white wax robot were shot straight toward the sky like a soccer ball kicked with full force, at a speed difficult for the naked eye to catch!

Luffy grinned. After expelling all the air from his body, he grabbed a sturdy tree with each hand, pulling himself back like a stone on a slingshot to the limit!

He released the "string," and his body shot out like a cannonball, chasing after Galdino at a speed even faster than the flying man!

"Gomu Gomu no..."

He extended his fist backward, his arm twisting like a coiled rope, accumulating both the elastic and rotational force of the rubber.

Then, he threw a punch at the white wax robot directly in front of him!

"Rifle!"

Boundless force bombarded the waxen shell. With a crack, the white wax shell shattered instantly. Galdino, spitting blood and foam, was blasted out from inside.

Then.

Like a kite with a broken string, he traced a long parabola in the air, flying out of the boundaries of Little Garden and disappearing from everyone's view.

With this, Mr. 3 Galdino was finally defeated!

...

On the coast, seeing Luffy finally victorious, the crowd erupted in enthusiastic cheers.

"Luffy! That move just now was brilliant!"

"Hahaha, that guy flew so far. Did he fly right off the island?"

Everyone gathered around, catching Luffy as he slowly fell from the sky, somewhat exhausted.

Luffy enjoyed his partners' praise, giggling foolishly for several minutes until his stomach growled in protest. Only then did he suddenly remember the main business.

"Hey! Everyone, come with me quickly! A giant wants to throw a banquet for us!"

Luffy shouted with exceptional excitement.

For him, having a banquet seemed far happier than defeating Mr. 3 just now.

"Giant? You mean those two big guys fighting on the island earlier?" Nami was startled. She and Usopp had also witnessed the earth-shattering giant duel from the ship.

At the same time, she had found a notebook on the ship recording the origin of the name "Little Garden." The primeval forest on this island was like a delicate little back garden to the massive giants. Hence the seemingly mismatched name "Little Garden."

"Luffy, do you really know that giant? And he invited us to eat?" Usopp was both surprised and delighted, his eyes full of anticipation.

Compared to Nami, Usopp was much more interested in these legendary creatures. Moreover, hearing that all giants came from a warrior nation held a immense attraction for Usopp, who aspired to be a brave warrior of the sea.

"Of course!"

Luffy nodded vigorously, then rubbed his growling stomach and urged:

"I only know the uncle named Dorry. He's super nice! He said he'd treat our whole crew to meat! Let's go quickly, or Uncle Dorry will get impatient!"

Hearing this, everyone naturally had no objections and prepared to set off one after another.

However, Ganyu remained standing in place, a subtle expression on her face.

"Miss Ganyu, do you have other plans?" Sanji noticed her abnormality and hurriedly asked.

Everyone's gaze also gathered on her.

Ganyu shook her head slightly with some helplessness and laughed: "It's a bit of a coincidence. Zoro and I also met a giant earlier, and he also warmly invited us to share dinner."

Everyone immediately understood that the giant Ganyu met must be the other one, Brogy.

For a moment, everyone hesitated. Should they go to Ganyu and Zoro's side, or Luffy and Vivi's side? They couldn't exactly ask the two giants to come over, could they?

Wait...

"Isn't that even better?!" Luffy's eyes lit up. He clapped his hands hard, making a decision that everyone expected: "Call them both over! We'll have a super big banquet together!"

...

In the end, the banquet location was set on the coast where the Going Merry was docked.

The banquet attendees included the two giants, the entire Straw Hat Pirate crew, the hitchhiking Princess Vivi and her riding duck, and... the little girl Marianne who had been left on the island.

Upon learning that her partner Mr. 3 had been punched flying by Luffy, Marianne's expression didn't fluctuate in the slightest. Neither panic nor sadness, as if it had nothing to do with her.

Naturally, the Straw Hats wouldn't give a little girl a hard time. After discussing it, they decided to let her board the ship temporarily and drop her off at the next island.

Marianne simply nodded silently in agreement.

However, ever since being held by Ganyu, she seemed addicted, staying by Ganyu's side throughout the banquet.

Dorry and Brogy had also noticed the battle between Luffy and Galdino.

They praised Luffy's strength, saying he might become a great pirate in the future.

In response, Luffy stood up confidently and declared the goal he had been pursuing since setting sail in front of the two giants:

"That's for sure! I'm the man who will become the Pirate King!"

The two giants looked stunned, silent for a long while before asking:

"The Pirate King... what is that?"

Well.

These two guys had been fighting on Little Garden for a full hundred years.

They didn't know a rookie pirate named Roger at all. Nor did they know what the Great Pirate Era, the One Piece, or the Pirate King represented.

"What?! You guys don't even know the Pirate King?!"

Luffy immediately showed a disgusted expression that said, "You guys are too behind the times."

He cleared his throat, prepared to give these two "primitive" giants a good lesson.

However, Luffy's storytelling ability was truly unflattering.

He rambled incoherently with frantic body language for a long time. Not only were the two giants confused, but even his own crewmates had black lines all over their heads, their toes curling in embarrassment.

Finally, under Luffy's pleading gaze, Ganyu sighed helplessly and stepped forward.

She organized her thoughts and, using concise language and referencing newspaper records, told the two giants who had been disconnected from the times for a century the story of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and the Great Pirate Era he initiated.

Although Ganyu's eloquence wasn't particularly vivid or moving, it was organized and highlighted the key points, finally explaining the causes and consequences clearly.

After listening, the two giants fell into a long silence, their massive faces filled with confusion and melancholy.

Fighting on Little Garden for a hundred years, the outside world had undergone such earth-shaking changes.

It truly felt... like a lifetime ago.
