That evening, Doctor Octopus injured several doctors and escaped from the hospital.
Then, Doctor Octopus arrived at an abandoned pier by the Hudson River, his expression bewildered, not knowing what to do next.
"Your experiment didn't fail; you should continue to complete it."
A voice echoed in Doctor Octopus's mind: "Once the Artificial Sun is completed, humanity will never lack energy again. At that time, this world will no longer have hunger, nor will it have poverty."
"That's right, my experiment didn't fail; I must continue to complete it."
Under the influence of the mechanical tentacles, Doctor Octopus re-established his goal: he would rebuild his laboratory on this pier and complete the Artificial Sun for endless energy.
To restart the experiment, a large amount of money was needed to purchase various instruments. Doctor Octopus thought for a moment and decided to embark on a path of crime—robbing banks.
Gwen was deeply pained by Doctor Octopus's degradation and, together with Spider-Man, attempted to apprehend Doctor Octopus. Unfortunately, Doctor Octopus, with his four mechanical arms, was very powerful; neither Spider-Man nor Gwen could catch him.
And so, Doctor Octopus became New York's new Super Villain, nicknamed Doctor Octopus, and also, Doctor Bank Robber.
Several days later, a group of thugs stormed into Osborn Group, killing all the group directors who were in a meeting. Only Norman Osborn escaped by jumping from an upper floor, but he suffered severe injuries.
After killing the people, that group of thugs rushed into Osborn's laboratory and stole a large amount of high-tech, including Human Enhancement Serum, Lizard Serum, Rhino Armor, Green Goblin Battlesuit, gliders, and so on.
This incident was truly shocking, and the entire city was shaken. The police department and S.H.I.E.L.D. mobilized all their forces to fully apprehend that group of thugs.
Osborn Group's stock price plummeted due to this incident. Norman Osborn, on one hand, sold Human Enhancement Serum in the black market to accumulate wealth, and on the other hand, secretly absorbed the group's shares.
"Green Goblin is playing such a big game? It seems the power of the Evil God has a serious influence on him."
Andrew was a little surprised. Others couldn't tell, but how could he not know that all these matters were Green Goblin's doing?
Of course, Andrew did not stop it. He simply joined Green Goblin in acquiring Osborn Group shares at a low price. The time for him to take control of Osborn Group was not far off.
The appeal of Human Enhancement Serum to the underground world was undeniable. Villains and major gangs were very interested in the serum. After confirming its authenticity, they emptied their wallets to purchase it.
What, side effects? Who cares about that? They were already bad people; what difference would it make to be a little worse?
After the major gangs bought the serum, they immediately declared war on other gangs. As for those villains, some sought revenge everywhere, while others robbed banks to recoup their costs. New York became incredibly turbulent as a result, with gunfights daily, banks robbed daily, and deaths daily, causing the crime rate to skyrocket.
Some unlucky banks were even robbed several times a day. As soon as the masked individuals entered the bank, the staff instinctively raised their hands.
In short, New York became increasingly chaotic, and the Superheroes were incredibly busy as a result. Our Miss Gwen, let alone dating Andrew, didn't even have time for classes, successfully transforming from a favorite straight-A student into a problem college student who skipped classes every day.
In response, our Demon King stated, "Good thing I have other girlfriends."
On this day, a 'small incident' occurred within Osborn Group—Max, an employee in the power department, fell into an electric eel pond on his birthday and was electrocuted and bitten to death by the electric eels.
Recently, Osborn Group had too much negative news, so the group's high-level executives chose to suppress this news, hastily sending Max to the morgue. After all, no one cared about his life or death.
Fortunately, Max did not die. Due to those electric eels, he mutated into the blue Electro, capable of absorbing electricity for his own use—he himself could not generate electricity; he was merely like a battery.
Max was terrified by his transformation. Wearing a hoodie and a hood, he arrived at Times Square in a daze.
Afterward, Max was attracted by the underground current and excitedly absorbed electricity by hugging the wires.
This action caused Max to be targeted by the police. A conflict quickly ensued, and Spider-Man received the news and immediately went to provide support.
Electro was initially happy about Spider-Man's arrival, as the latter was his friend. Who would have thought that Spider-Man didn't even know his name? Electro felt he had been fooled, so the two fought fiercely in Times Square.
At Osborn Manor, Norman looked at Spider-Man and Electro fighting intensely on TV, his expression somewhat speechless. Why were there so many villains from Osborn Group?
First Lizard Dr., then Doctor Octopus, and now an Electro has appeared?
"With these people around, it's a miracle if Osborn Group's stock price can rise. I finally know where I failed; I failed in hiring people."
Norman cursed unhappily. Just then, there was a commotion from the balcony. Norman immediately got up, picked up the decorative longsword beside him, and walked towards the balcony, discovering that it was Doctor Octopus with four tentacles.
Norman sneered, "Wow, isn't this our Doctor Bank Robber? What are you doing at Osborn Manor?"
"Norman, didn't the news say you were injured?"
Doctor Octopus was a little surprised, then shook his head and said, "Never mind, that's not important. Norman, I need your help."
"My help? If I'm not mistaken, you've robbed seven banks this week. In terms of cash alone, you might even have more than me. Those enhanced people even call you the God of Bank Robbery."
Norman sneered, "Otto, I have to say, you're very professional at robbing banks, at least more professional than you are at research."
Norman was very displeased with Doctor Octopus. If it weren't for this guy's failed experiment, why would he have embarked on a path of crime and become The Mastermind?
Doctor Octopus was greatly annoyed by these words. Just then, a glider flew out from the side, its miniature missiles aimed remotely at Doctor Octopus—remote control, inspired by Ivan. Of course, there were no patent fees.
"Norman, I'm not short on money, but there are some things that money can't buy, requiring a certain status and channels."
Doctor Octopus took a deep breath and said, "For example, tritium. I know you stockpiled some tritium a while ago. I hope you can sell them to me, at any price."
At that time, Norman thought the Artificial Sun would definitely succeed, so he stockpiled a lot of tritium.
Norman was stunned: "You still want to create an Artificial Sun?"
"Of course."
Doctor Octopus shouted fanatically, "Norman, my experiment will definitely succeed. At that time, humanity will have inexhaustible energy."
"Humanity won't have inexhaustible energy; humanity will only have a New York that has been razed to the ground."
Norman scoffed. He was about to drive Doctor Octopus away when a surprised voice suddenly echoed in his mind: "Isn't this better?"
Norman immediately said, "Green Goblin, go back. I said we can't destroy New York. Also, don't forget Andrew Wang's existence."
"Andrew Wang is indeed a problem, but the Artificial Sun experiment is progressing quickly. Andrew Wang may not be able to stop it in time. Even if he does stop it, it's no big deal, because we won't show ourselves."
Green Goblin said. After fusing with the power of the Evil God, he became more greedy and also more foolish—as mentioned before, the power of the Evil God lowers intelligence.
Norman said firmly, "No, the risk is too great, and we can't destroy New York. Green Goblin, go back."
"Excuse me, but you're the one who needs to go back."
Green Goblin chuckled, suppressing Norman's consciousness deep into his sea of consciousness. Then, he took control of the body, becoming the new Norman Osborn.
During this time, due to Norman Osborn's plan, at least hundreds of people lost their lives, and Green Goblin's strength greatly increased as a result, making it easy to suppress Norman.
Seeing that Norman was unwilling to help him, Doctor Octopus was very disappointed. Just then, Norman suddenly said enthusiastically, "Otto, how much tritium do you need?"
Doctor Octopus was a little surprised by Norman's change. He said, "As much as last time will do."
"As much as last time?"
Norman shook his head repeatedly: "No, that's too little. I'll give you all the tritium I have. We'll make a big sun that illuminates the entire city. At that time, everyone in New York will thank you."
"Thank you for sending them to hell," Norman secretly added in his heart.
Doctor Octopus hesitated and said, "If there's too much tritium, I'll need to readjust my instruments."
Norman took everything on: "Then readjust them. Just tell me what instruments you need, and I'll help you get them."
Doctor Octopus blinked. He was now highly suspicious of whether he had awakened mind control abilities, otherwise, why would Norman Osborn suddenly become so cooperative?
This was unscientific.
"Otto, we're not researching the Artificial Sun for ourselves; we're researching the Artificial Sun for all humanity."
Norman said with an expectant look, "You must create the Artificial Sun. At that time, New York will be... New York will become a place of miracles."
"That's right, we are researching the Artificial Sun for all humanity."
Doctor Octopus was filled with enthusiasm by Norman's words. He said, "Norman, I'll give you a list right away. However, those Superheroes might stop me, especially Spider-Man and Spider-Woman; they've been keeping a close eye on me.
Also, S.H.I.E.L.D. is also pursuing me. They've already guessed what I intend to do."
"This is indeed a problem. It's unrealistic to expect the experiment to proceed smoothly; we must find a way to stop those Superheroes."
Norman frowned. Those Superheroes were very annoying; they might pop out from anywhere.
Thinking of something, Norman returned to the living room and found that Electro had already been caught by Spider-Man. He hurriedly called the police department, demanding Electro on the grounds that he was an Osborn Group employee.
This was certainly illegal, but America was a capitalist society. Norman found a few congressmen to exert pressure, and the police could only obediently hand Electro over.
Norman shouted to Doctor Octopus, "Otto, you just focus on the experiment. I'll take care of the other problems."
"Thank you, Norman, you're truly a good person."
Doctor Octopus was very touched. He nodded and turned to leave.
"Good person? Hahaha!"
Hearing this title, Norman couldn't help but burst into laughter. Let alone being a good person, he didn't even want to be a human anymore; he wanted to become a god.
