"Is the engagement true?"
That was the first question Anby asked.
Hearing the question, Wise paused for a moment.
"Engagement? What do you mean?"
"This!"
From the side, Ellen picked up her phone and held it out to Wise, showing him a post.
|| Shocking! The Youngest Void Hunter in New Eridu Has a Fiancé, and It's Actually Him! ||
Despite the sensational title, the post itself was nothing more than baseless gossip. It didn't even reveal who the supposed fiancé was.
Normally, it would have been dismissed as nothing more than fabricated clickbait. However, the owner had also attached a somewhat blurry photo.
The picture showed Miyabi and Wise at Lumina Square that day.
Although the photo only showed their backs, the girls instantly recognized Wise. More importantly, after the post went viral, Miyabi herself replied in the comments, confirming the engagement.
While she never directly revealed who the other person was, her response immediately turned the topic into the hottest discussion on the Inter-Knot.
That was how they ended up in the current situation. Everyone had sought out Wise to discuss the matter, gathering together in the staff room on the first floor.
Among those present, only Belle seemed relatively calm since Wise had already explained everything to her after returning.
The others, however, all appeared visibly nervous. Nicole's thoughts, in particular, had taken a rather absurd turn.
For a brief moment, she wondered whether, if Wise really got married in the future, the way they currently handled debt repayments would somehow become illegal.
Putting that aside, it had never been something they worried about before, but now they couldn't help but care.
The New Eridu law did not recognize polygamy. A wedding ceremony could be held, but only one girl could legally register the marriage.
Only then did Wise realize how serious the situation had become. The reason his phone hadn't received a single message wasn't that no one had found out.
It was because they were already on their way.
"So, is this true? nya?"
Nekomata also looked extremely concerned. She wondered if she was no longer Wise's dearest Thiren girl.
Ellen, on the other hand, wasn't too worried. After all, she had been with Wise long before Miyabi, but...
"I have indeed met Miyabi's father, and he has agreed to our relationship..." Wise admitted in a low voice.
"Then can I attend your wedding?"
Before Wise could finish, Anby eagerly cut him off. Judging from her reaction, however, it didn't seem like she meant attending in the traditional sense.
"Uh... Anby, calm down first. The engagement hasn't been decided yet. This is all just a misunderstanding."
Wise's simple explanation immediately eased the girls' worries.
Meanwhile, Anby's mind was already racing.
A moment later, her eyes suddenly lit up as though she had realized something.
"In that case, can you marry me first?"
"Huh?"
Wise could only stare at her in confusion.
"Oh, right. This kind of thing has to be discussed with our parents too. My current guardian should be Nicole. Is that okay, Nicole?"
Anby turned toward Nicole, who was still trying to process everything, and found her pointing at herself with a blank expression.
"I need to agree too? Wait... if you two get married, can I collect a betrothal gift? Oh, and red envelopes! I'll invite everyone I know!"
"Nicole!" Wise called out.
"Ah, sorry, sorry! I was just joking. Cough, cough... Anby, this isn't the time to talk about this. Besides, you should ask Wise what he thinks first."
As Nicole finished speaking, everyone's attention shifted back to Wise.
Anby looked at him expectantly, while Ellen and Nekomata wore complicated expressions.
Only Belle remained completely unfazed, happily eating snacks as she watched everything unfold.
"I'm very sorry, Anby, but I can't agree to that right now..."
Wise's answer was exactly what everyone had expected.
Anby looked slightly disappointed, but not heartbroken. Then, he repeated the same words he had used to persuade Miyabi and her father before.
The girls understood his ambitions, so none of them objected.
What should have been a warm and harmonious moment, however, took an entirely different turn because of Nicole.
"Wise... Are you actually planning to change New Eridu's laws? If that's the case, can we also... Uh, never mind! I was just kidding! Don't look at me like that!"

Several days later...
While Wise was handling the commissions Venus had assigned him, one client's information suddenly caught his attention.
After contacting her, he discovered that the client was Burnice.
Although he had heard that Venus intended to expand its business into the Outer Ring, he hadn't expected such a coincidence.
"I didn't want to trouble you, but what a coincidence! Alright! Piper and I will wait for you in the Hollow! After we're done, I'll treat everyone to some Nitro-Fuel!"
Knowing Burnice's incredible efficiency, Wise immediately began making preparations after ending the call.
Burnice had accepted a commission to collect supplies inside the Hollow, and Wise's role was to guide her through it.
However, since he was there in person, simply acting as a guide wasn't enough.
Together with Piper, the three of them eliminated quite a few Ethereals while exploring the Hollow.
During the mission, they also came across an elderly woman who had accidentally wandered inside.
"Thank you, you two kind young ladies... and this kind young man."
"Heh... You only need to thank Burnice and Wise. No need to thank me. Are you really alright? At your age, getting attacked by an Ethereal is no joke."
Piper spoke with genuine concern. Since there were outsiders present, she refrained from referring to herself as "this old woman."
"Piper, I think this grandma is much tougher than you. She has so much more energy!"
"Haha! Such sweet words. Keep saying things like that; I love hearing them!"
The elderly woman beamed at Burnice's compliment.
After introducing herself, she insisted on doing something to repay them, even suggesting she could write them a thank-you letter.
"Getting a thank-you letter for doing a good deed is way too un-rock-and-roll for us Outer Ring bikers."
Piper said it confidently, despite not exactly being a rock-and-roll girl herself.
The old woman looked troubled after hearing that.
"Is that so? Then... should I offer money instead? I do have quite a bit of money, but no... money alone can't properly express my gratitude..."
"Hey, wait! Don't jump to conclusions so quickly... Burnice! Come on, say something!" Piper whispered to Burnice, signaling her to step in.
Burnice immediately understood and responded with a confident wink.
