"Why did you do that, Mia? That's enough. You will stay in the confession box for a whole day."
The little angel watched as Father grabbed the girl by the arm and pulled her away. She struggled, shouting and kicking, but Father was stronger.
After that, the orphanage became quiet again.
For the rest of the day, the little girl stayed in her bed. No one grabbed her hair. No one told her not to cry. No one forced her underwater. For a few hours, she could finally rest. She told herself it was peaceful.
But that peace never lasted long.
A few days later, the girl came back.
Her face was darker, her eyes colder than before.
"Because you cry, I had to stay in that box all day, Angel," she said, her voice full of anger.
Angel did not understand. She never asked her to be punished. She only cried because she could not stop herself.
She always told her, "Stop crying. Just stop."
But Angel didn't know how.
