People were running, busy in their work. There were just too many problems in this world, making the police station crowded.
Clara blinks slowly, looking ahead to nowhere.
The metal clanged beside her as a tall girl fidgeted with her fingers. One hand cuffed together with Clara's hand.
"I—I'm sorry."
Julie's red hair shifted as she raised her head to glance at Clara. Her voice was barely louder than the hum.
Clara didn't look at her, only rolled her eyes. Then winced as her bruised left eye throbbed.
"Why?"
"Aa—!"
Julie spoke in response to Clara's question, but she had no words to offer, only breath.
Clara turned her head. Just enough to see Julie shrinking into herself, shoulders curling like she was trying to disappear between the cuffs.
'That fool.'
"Don't talk shit if you don't know what to say."
She lifted her hand to smack her, but the chain snapped tight, stopping her midway.
"Fuck!"
