As the first true rays of dawn began to lick at the edges of the shale floor, Darien had finally regained enough of his strength to realize they couldn't stay in the damp shadows forever. He was healed, but he was naked, and Amara was shivering in her torn silk. With a grunt of effort, he had reached for Amara's discarded cardigan, pulling her phone from the pocket. The screen was cracked from her trek through the woods, and the battery was at a critical 3%, but the signal was strong enough.
He hadn't typed a long explanation. He had simply sent a GPS ping and a three-word text to Theron's private line: "The Cave. Now."
