Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Curiosity killed the cat

"It seems they've finally found out."

Hearing the alarms and the continuous sound of footsteps rushing towards her, Cipher wasn't flustered at all, because she had intentionally caused all of this.

If she didn't attract these people, it would be difficult for her to retrieve the items from the cabinets.

"Time to go, but before I do, I'll leave them one more big gift."

With that, Cipher flashed a mischievous smile, then pulled out the first purple-tier item she had kept in her backpack for over three days: an emp grenade.

Immediately after, the turning over coin was tossed, and Cipher once again entered Divinity Speed state.

"This door seems impossible to open..."

Upon reaching the door of one of the rooms, Cipher looked at the tightly sealed alloy door, feeling a bit troubled.

These doors were not like those in the administrative area, which could be opened at will; this place was clearly protected.

Cipher stared at the door for a while but found no physical way to open it.

The only way to enter was in a non-time-stopped state, otherwise the access control wouldn't even recognize the card.

After pondering for a moment, stroking her chin, she finally sighed and murmured:

"Never mind, I'll have to use this ability for evacuation later anyway, so I might as well use it now."

"Once I activate my invisibility ability, no physical doors or walls can stop me."

No sooner had Cipher finished speaking than the system's prompt sounded:

[100,000 credit points consumed. Lie Comes True. Effect will expire in ten minutes]

"One hundred thousand... not very cheap, but acceptable." Cipher stretched comfortably, and after putting the emp grenade into her system backpack, she walked straight towards the alloy door of the Data Storage Room.

"Ten minutes until expiration? For me in Divinity Speed state, that's a very long time."

With that, Cipher stood still in front of the door, then tentatively extended her finger towards the alloy door.

As her fingertip touched the cold metal surface, it seamlessly sank into it, as if the door was merely an illusory light and shadow.

This was like a bug in the world! Or perhaps... this door simply hadn't been modeled?

Cipher watched her hand pass through the solid door, and an extremely strong sense of strangeness came from her heart, as if at this moment she had detached from reality and entered an immersive game.

Shaking her head, she quickly dismissed these strange thoughts from her mind, then took a deep breath, and the next moment, she passed through the door and entered the Data Storage Room.

As soon as she entered, Cipher saw four armed people staring nervously at the doorway, seemingly ready to fire if anything went wrong.

"They're guarding against me like this, even though I'm just a harmless little kitty. I only stole some of your cards and pocket money; I didn't hurt you. Is it really necessary?"

Cipher feigned a distressed expression, but inwardly she was delighted.

Watching them guard against her with such vigilance and tension, yet being utterly helpless, a sense of accomplishment from successfully pranking a large group of people inexplicably welled up from the bottom of her heart.

But soon, Cipher sharply slapped her own cheek, making herself return to normal.

"Why does my personality feel off? I haven't turned into a Fools! Could Aha have set me up?"

Thinking of this, Cipher couldn't help but shiver.

"I'd better finish this and leave. I still have over seven million credit points to spend."

Before she finished speaking, Cipher took out the emp grenade, activated it, placed it in the center of the Data Storage Room, and then left, all in one smooth motion.

She then treated the main computer room and the server room in the same way she had treated the Data Storage Room.

After finishing all of this, Cipher returned to the main hall of the Data Center, nodding with satisfaction.

"Time to go. I wonder what kind of blow this destruction will deal to the Reverse Current Alliance. But judging by the number of their bases, it shouldn't be very significant, right?"

Taking the turning over coin that was suspended in mid-air, Cipher stroked her chin and pondered.

After all, before she came in, she had heard Neil say that this was Experimental Base 036 and that he was going to Combat Base 037.

Did that mean the Reverse Current Alliance had at least 37 bases?

Before Cipher could think further, a low "hum—" sound reached her ears.

Then came various crackling electrical noises and exclamations, interrupting her thoughts.

"It seems the grenade has triggered."

Cipher was very satisfied, then passed through the main entrance of the Data Center and walked back the way she came.

During this time, she saw many people rushing towards the Data Center, while Cipher, like an anomaly, walked against the flow of the crowd.

And with Cipher's agile dodging, no one noticed a presence moving against the current among them.

Before long, Cipher successfully returned to the initial main hall.

Seeing the empty hall, a look of successful planning appeared on her face.

Walking to the cabinets, Cipher lied again, granting herself the ability to open metal cabinets.

[5,000 credit points consumed. Lie Comes True. Effect will expire in ten minutes.]

"Quite cheap. So, now it's time to open some blind boxes!"

With that, the turning over coin was tossed again, and Cipher began her grand task of opening cabinets.

"A terminal? Only a little over two thousand credit points inside, so poor. I won't take yours this time."

"You have a lot of money, over sixty thousand! Taken, taken!"

"What is this... 'Lingerie and Purple rod'? Why would such things be in a cabinet!"

"This is a... cup. Why don't you and the owner of the cabinet above make a pair?"

"A photo album of a certain Apex Entertainment actress... Next, next."

"Hmm... Base Level 3 access card. This is considered normal... Wait, why is your access card in a cabinet? Are you not working anymore?"

It was truly like opening blind boxes; Cipher felt her worldview was under a strong assault.

She suddenly felt that it would have been better not to open these cabinets. The credit points she got were less than three hundred thousand, but the mental pollution she suffered was far more than what those credit points could compensate for.

"Forget it, I must immediately do a ten-pull to comfort myself. System, can I get a gold! I need mental compensation!"

With that, Cipher opened the gacha interface and generously spent 1.6 million credit points on a ten-pull.
