The prison guard who ripped off the corpse's facial skin was naturally Chen Ya.
Yes, he smoothly transitioned from a "dead" prisoner to a prison guard.
This is an invisible advantage of all prison guards wearing masks; an extra or missing person on usual days is hardly noticeable.
Immediately, two prison guards, whose builds closely resembled the deceased Zhao Lu and his companion, walked up.
They first took off their own white masks, revealing two utterly ordinary faces.
No features, no memorable points, perfectly fitting the definition of a "backdrop character."
Then, with extreme caution, they picked up the two freshly peeled human skins and placed them on their faces as if applying a facial mask.
The edges of the human skin and their own facial seams revealed faint traces.
But immediately, another prison guard, also wearing a white mask but with two playful pigtails sticking up from the back of her head and a petite frame, hopped over.
