As I woke up, it felt like I was in the middle of a battle. There were sounds of people groaning and screaming.
It was so loud that it hurt my head.
My thoughts were already hazy. Instinctively I tried to reach for the daggers at my waist, but my arms wouldn't obey. They were pinned high above my head.
I tugged at the restraints. They felt cold and heavy against my wrists, but my mind was too hazy to identify the metal.
I was Miss Ryana's bodyguard, I should have been able to snap it without blinking. But my body felt heavy, as if the chains were feeding on my strength. I hung there, dangling like a piece of meat.
I tried to blink away the blurriness, shaking my head to clear the dizziness. The last thing I remembered was the tree branch. The woman in the blue dress. The impossible speed. And then, darkness.
My vision cleared a bit. I was in a room. I looked around to look for an escape plan, but the sight in front of me shocked the hell out of me.
