Because it was the day for some graduates to collect their university admission letters.

A big red list was posted at the entrance of the administration building, announcing the graduates' admission results. Students coming to collect their admission letters, along with many accompanying parents, gathered around to watch intently.
On the list, several big red banners stood out particularly.
