Chapter 195 - Chapter 195: Monica’s Return and Fiona’s Change

Chapter 195: Monica's Return and Fiona's Change

When asked what she thought, Fiona had no answer.

All she knew was this—Peggy staying in the house was dangerous.

One careless moment, and she was already teaching Carl how to cook meth.

That was something Fiona absolutely could not tolerate.

Seeing Fiona shake her head, Frank looked at his daughter with clear annoyance—like she was completely useless.

"I don't care, Frank. That's your mother. It's your responsibility to get her out!"

After a moment's thought, Fiona simply dumped the problem onto him.

Thanks to William's interference, the siblings' relationships had already developed cracks. There was no longer any unity—no one coming together to figure out how to deal with Peggy.

After saying her piece, Fiona turned and went back inside.

Frank clicked his tongue in irritation, but there was nothing he could do.

Just as he was about to follow her in, the sound of brakes screeching cut through the air.

He instinctively turned around—

And froze.

A figure he hadn't seen in forever stood there.

"Monica?"

His voice was filled with disbelief.

The next second, Monica jumped out of the car and ran toward him.

"Frank! I'm back!"

She threw herself into his arms, not caring in the slightest about the foul smell clinging to him—alcohol, sweat, and cigarettes all mixed together.

Then again… they were the same kind of people.

Frank didn't question how she got here. The moment she reached him, he opened his arms and pulled her in.

Right there on the street, they started making out like nothing had happened.

From the doorway to the kitchen—

The noise they made was loud enough to finally catch Fiona's attention.

"What the fuck?!"

The moment she saw Monica, Fiona's eyes went wide.

She couldn't believe Monica had the nerve to come back.

The last time—after her girlfriend died—Monica had shown up with Liam, begging for shelter. Fiona remembered it vividly.

Back then, she had sworn she would never forgive this woman again.

And yet, here she was.

In the end, Fiona realized—she had underestimated just how shameless someone like Monica could be.

If there was one person in this entire story who embodied shamelessness, it was Monica.

Yes, she was sick.

But she knew she was sick—and still refused treatment, continuing to drag her family down with her.

Calling her the most shameless person wasn't an exaggeration.

"Monica! You've got some nerve coming back!"

Fiona stared at her in disbelief.

"Sweetheart, it's not what you think," Monica replied softly, trying to smooth things over.

That did it.

Frank exploded.

He shot Fiona a furious glare. "How can you talk to Monica like that? Apologize!"

There was probably only one woman in the world who could make Frank lose control and turn on Fiona like this—

And that was Monica.

His tone was harsh.

Fiona froze for a moment.

The shouting downstairs quickly drew the younger kids, who crept down the stairs and peeked from the corner, watching silently.

"Fuck you, Frank! Do you even remember what she did last time?!"

Fiona couldn't believe what she was hearing.

But then—

She understood.

Frank never really cared about Liam.

Back then, he had even thought it wouldn't matter if Liam was given away.

In that instant, Fiona felt exhausted all over again.

"No matter what she did, she's still the mother who gave birth to you!" Frank argued stubbornly.

That only made Fiona laugh bitterly.

"Raised me? She was the one who ran away when I was nine—not me!"

With that, Fiona stormed out of the house.

Leaving behind a stunned Frank—

And a seemingly innocent Monica.

As for the younger kids upstairs, none of them spoke up for Fiona this time.

They just watched silently as she walked out of 2119.

"Fuck it. Ungrateful little brat."

Frank muttered a curse, then turned back to Monica, ready to pick up where they left off.

"Don't say that, honey. She's just…"

Monica tried to say something in Fiona's defense—

But the words caught in her throat.

She, of all people in this house, had the least right to judge Fiona.

But the truth was, whatever guilt Monica felt didn't last even a second before she sank right back into fooling around with Frank.

This time, she had nowhere else to go.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have come back just to face Fiona's cold attitude.

Luckily, Frank was here.

With him drawing most of the fire, she could slip back in without much resistance.

As for whether Fiona would throw her out again later?

That kind of long-term thinking simply didn't exist in Monica's mind.

Out of everyone in the family, she was the most "live for today, drink for today" kind of person.

Meanwhile—

After leaving the house, Fiona felt an overwhelming sense of grievance.

The house was rented under her name.

So how had things ended up like this?

For a moment, the world felt suffocating.

But she didn't want to sit down and think about how everything had spiraled into this mess.

The emotional relief she found with William had already turned into something close to physical dependence.

Now, both her mind and her body seemed to be screaming the same thing—

Go find him.

Of course, that was just a fantasy. If William truly went all out…

Fiona probably wouldn't survive it.

No hospital needed—just skip straight to picking out a coffin.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Standing outside William's door, Fiona pounded on it impatiently.

Her breathing was uneven, almost frantic—

Like someone on the verge of losing control.

Inside, William was lounging on the couch, casually flirting with Bianca on his phone.

The sudden knocking caught him off guard.

At this hour… who could it be?

He got up and walked to the door.

Opened it—

And saw Fiona standing there, tear-streaked, her makeup smeared.

The moment she saw him, she threw herself forward without hesitation, whispering something into his ear.

Words that couldn't even be spoken aloud.

William wasn't surprised.

From his perspective, Fiona was already hooked.

And from here on, her need would only grow stronger.

Which meant his plan was nearing its conclusion.

"Alright. Go take a shower first," he said casually. "You're a mess."

He had no reason to refuse.

Fiona nodded and stepped inside.

Click.

The door shut behind them.

Moments later, she had already shed her clothes and hurried into the bathroom of William's apartment.
