"Naruto: Ice God"Chapter 133: Seated Beneath the Frosty Sky
"Hatake Style: Thunderfire Blade—Pine!"
Amegakure battlefield, Konoha encampment.
With Feng Bai's sharp battle cry, the tree trunk before him split cleanly in two, the cut surface flickering with residual lightning and bearing scorch marks from flames.
Coating White Fang with both lightning and fire chakra natures before striking delivered far greater destructive power than using a single element.
If only I could add wind chakra as well.
Unfortunately, balancing two chakra natures was already challenging; when he attempted to inject a third, the violent clash nearly caused White Fang to explode from the surging chakra.
Two natures were his current limit—three remained nearly impossible to achieve...
Nearly, but not absolutely.
Achieving precise balance among three chakra types would demand extraordinary chakra control.
Feng Bai suspected that if he succeeded, he might create an entirely new nature transformation.
A Kekkei Tōta.
But for now, such power remained far beyond his reach.
Withdrawing the dual-nature chakra from White Fang, Feng Bai coated the blade with ice chakra instead.
Frigid air spread around him. Sensing the chill, Uchiha Itachi shifted his gaze from the severed tree back to Feng Bai.
A rare opportunity—time to show off a little.
Feeling his control over ice chakra growing increasingly refined, Feng Bai was tempted to display his skills before the watching Itachi.
Besides, with Isobu now supplying chakra within him, he could easily execute that technique.
Armor formed of crystalline ice condensed around his arms, while White Fang's blade began manifesting the form of a colossal dragon.
Can't forget the lotus...
Recalling the technique's proper form, Feng Bai felt ready and swung White Fang with tremendous force: "Seated Beneath the Frosty Sky—Great Crimson Lotus Ice Wheel!"
A massive ice dragon materialized and erupted in the direction of his swing, charging forward with unstoppable momentum. It carved a deep trench through the ground, smashed through the camp's perimeter fence, and crashed directly into a small hut at the far end.
Wait... a hut?
Why would there be a building on the battlefield outside our camp?!
Only now noticing the structure, Feng Bai stood stunned.
Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi were equally bewildered.
"What are you standing around for? Go check it out!"
Sheathing White Fang, Feng Bai slapped his thigh and rushed toward the hut.
Shisui didn't dare hesitate, grabbing Itachi as they followed.
As the trio departed, Konoha shinobi poked their heads from their tents, alarmed by the massive commotion Feng Bai had created. For a moment, they thought Kirigakure had launched an attack.
In reality, following Danzō's meticulous scheming and the immense pressure from losing their Tailed Beast, only the final squad led by Jūzō Biwa remained from Kirigakure's forces on the battlefield.
"What's all this racket?"
Yawning as he arrived at Feng Bai's training spot, Jiraiya rubbed his eyes irritably.
He'd just led a night raid on the Mist camp and had barely gotten any sleep before being awakened by the disturbance.
"Who knows."
Obito, equally drowsy, shook his head. Having participated in last night's operation, he was utterly exhausted.
"Wait, that hut..."
Following the gouges in the earth, Jiraiya's keen eyes spotted the structure at the end and his expression turned to surprise.
"Damn, isn't that Orochimaru's—"
Recognizing the hut's owner, Jiraiya was suddenly wide awake and dashed toward it.
"Orochimaru? Hey, Feng Bai?"
Obito, confused by Jiraiya's sudden urgency, was about to return to sleep when he caught sight of Feng Bai's silhouette in the distance. Without hesitation, he rushed after them.
...
Watching Feng Bai kneel before him, Orochimaru's expression was exceptionally grim.
He truly owed the Shimura family. Years ago, Danzō had cast him aside, leaving him without funding to pursue his research and fulfill his ambitions.
After painstakingly gathering materials from the battlefield to establish a makeshift laboratory, he'd barely begun his experiments before Feng Bai's Ice Release demolished everything—he'd nearly perished beneath the Great Crimson Lotus Ice Wheel himself.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I genuinely didn't know there was a hut here, Orochimaru-senpai. For our teacher's sake, please forgive me!"
Watching Feng Bai attempt to leverage their connection, Orochimaru's face darkened further.
Hiruzen Sarutobi never understood his ambitions, constantly suppressing him, and now this brat dared invoke his name.
The inherently evil Shimura child—I'll deal with him personally—
At that moment, Orochimaru seemed possessed by Tobirama's spirit, ready to make Feng Bai pay dearly.
But seeing Jiraiya nearby, Orochimaru was forced to swallow his rage.
At the very least, he couldn't act in Jiraiya's presence.
"Come now, Orochimaru, Feng Bai's still young. Perhaps we shouldn't let him off too easily."
Noticing Orochimaru's glare, Jiraiya stepped in to mediate.
"Right, right, Jiraiya-sama is absolutely correct—wait, that's not right!"
Feng Bai suddenly realized what a terrible thing Jiraiya had just said and hurried to protest.
Orochimaru glanced at Jiraiya strangely; it seemed he harbored quite a grudge against this child as well...
"It's for your own good, Feng Bai. Real men take responsibility for their mistakes."
Jiraiya patted Feng Bai's shoulder with obvious glee, clearly relishing his predicament.
"Coming from someone who peeps every day—mmmph—"
Before Feng Bai could finish, Jiraiya swiftly covered his mouth.
To divert everyone's attention, Jiraiya raised his voice even louder, drowning out Feng Bai's muffled struggles: "Ahaha, so Orochimaru, what are you working on here? That's a test tube, right? And that's a beaker?"
"None of your concern, Jiraiya. And you as well, Feng Bai—leave. Now."
Not wanting to expose his ongoing experiments, Orochimaru's expression grew even darker as he issued his dismissal.
If the old man discovered this, there was no telling what he'd say.
"Fine."
Jiraiya reluctantly released Feng Bai and dragged the bewildered Obito away.
When Orochimaru wore that expression, it meant he was close to exploding—if they didn't leave now, it would be too late.
"What, you wish to remain?"
Watching Jiraiya depart while Feng Bai showed no signs of moving, Orochimaru's anger transformed into a cold smile as he stepped closer.
"No, I'm leaving, I'm leaving."
Swallowing nervously, feeling Orochimaru's aura as an almost physical pressure against his skin, Feng Bai scrambled to his feet and motioned for Shisui and Itachi to make their escape.
But after taking several steps, he seemed to remember something, signaled for the other two to continue ahead, and steeled himself to return to Orochimaru.
