Chapter 329 - Chapter 156: The Prophecy and Cassandra's Valentine's Day Gift

"I say you two," Fred said, and George added right after: "Did you forget that there's magic?"

"Why not try a magical repair spell?" they said in unison.

Only then did Hermione remember that magic, so she pulled out her magic wand and pointed it at the notebook.

"Reparo (Repair)!"

The tip of the wand lit up, yet the notebook showed no response.

"What now?" She asked woefully, completely out of ideas.

"Better wake the notebook's owner." the twins said in unison.

"Harry, Harry?"

Out of ideas, Hermione reached to shake Harry, trying to wake him.

Harry opened his sleepy eyes but was unaware of what had happened.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Hermione felt a little awkward.

She pointed at the torn notebook on the table and said, "Well, Jack made a mess and tore your notebook..."

Harry looked in the direction Hermione was pointing, and sure enough, he saw the notebook with its cover torn off.

His mind paused for a moment.

"Perhaps we could use a repair magic spell." Harry suggested, pulling out his magic wand and pointing at the notebook.

But the spell flashed by, and still, nothing happened.

"Sorry, Harry." Hermione whispered: "It's my fault, I shouldn't have let Jack out so casually..."

With that, she began to sob quietly.

She didn't know what the notebook was but knew it seemed important to Harry, otherwise, he wouldn't keep it so close.

Oh my, just the thought of it was suffocating for Hermione.

Thinking from his perspective, if it were her, she might just die from anger.

"I bear some responsibility too, Harry." Ron stood beside Hermione, sharing in the blame: "If only I could have kept an eye on Jack..."

Harry looked at Ron and Hermione softly and smiled, "Alright, it's not your fault. It's just a notebook... Besides, the contents aren't damaged, are they?"

"No, Harry, I can't forgive myself..." Hermione murmured.

She felt genuinely guilty, if only the notebook could be fixed with a spell, but for some reason, the spell didn't work at all.

Yet, she didn't fully blame Jack, as the notebook was indeed damaged by Jack, but her carelessness as its owner was partly to blame.

"Alright, let's sit down and keep reading." Harry smiled warmly at them.

But,

Was it just a notebook?

Harry felt a bit sad.

It seemed Mr. Septimus' voice echoed in his mind.

"You're not just failing to protect her, boy! You can't even protect her relics!"

Harry sat stunned, reaching out to pick up the notebook's cover and notes with a hand on each side.

Although Ron and Hermione had already sat down, they still looked at Harry with concern.

Jack also peeked out his little head to look at Harry, but Hermione flicked its beak lightly.

Yet Harry sharply noticed a note tucked inside the cover of the notebook.

That position would never have been found if the cover hadn't been torn.

A note?

He swiftly picked up the note and opened it.

It turned out to be Cassandra's vault receipt!

A receipt from Gringotts!

He raised his head in delight and looked at Hermione holding Jack.

Originally he thought Jack had caused trouble by tearing Cassandra's notebook, but unexpectedly, this mishap allowed him to find something important!

Perhaps Cassandra's vault contained her crucial clues!

Who said Jack caused trouble? It's practically done a great service, right!

No wonder the cover couldn't be repaired, it seems Cassandra did it intentionally.

It should be said that the notebook cover wasn't the original set with the inside notes, hence it couldn't be fixed by the repair spell.

"Hermione, give Jack to me." he said happily.

Hermione shook her head frantically, "No, Harry, it's my fault, Jack... Jack..."

"No, I want to thank it for helping me a lot!" Harry laughed happily: "If it wasn't for it, I wouldn't have found something so important!"

Hermione skeptically looked at Harry, seeing his expression wasn't pretending, then hesitantly handed Jack over.

Harry joyfully lifted Jack, like Rafiki raising Simba.

He brought Jack closer and kissed it, then instinctively like inhaling Hedwig, he took a deep breath against Jack's bird chest.

To say, Hedwig is an owl, so there's no problem taking a couple of sniffs... but Jack...

Harry quickly handed Jack to Ron, coughing violently.

This darned feather powder, it filled his throat.

Hermione was amused by Harry, she initially thought he was merely comforting her, only now she realized Harry was truly being honest.

Yet she still pinched Jack's beak firmly with her fingers, deciding in her heart that she absolutely must keep Jack under strict watch to prevent future trouble!

Draco had already come over when the notebook cover was pulled off, he stared displeased at the little bird Jack, but said nothing.

After all, Harry hadn't complained, so he had no position to do so either— even though the notebook was his great-great-aunt's, he believed Harry's relationship with his great-great-aunt was closer.

However, after Harry discovered the vault receipt, Draco displayed an impressive change in demeanor.
