Chapter 167 - What is a Guild?

"M-Monster!"

Seeing Takeshi so easily eliminate the troublesome Thunder Palace, everyone in Fairy Tail was stunned.

Indeed, every transformation of Takeshi was a monster.

Whoosh!

Takeshi teleported back to the roof of Fairy Tail, released his transformation, and returned to his original appearance.

"Phew..."

He let out a sigh of relief.

His magical power consumption was not low in this battle.

"Takeshi, how are you?" Erza stepped forward and asked with concern.

She knew that the stronger the power Takeshi unleashed, the greater his magic power consumption, and excessive consumption could even lead to unconsciousness.

Takeshi waved his hand. "It's nothing serious, just a lot of magic power consumed. I'll be fine after some rest."

Levy asked, "Master is down, what should we do now?"

The girls had all clearly heard Makarov say he intended to pass the Guild Master position to Takeshi.

Takeshi said after some thought, "Hmm… The Fantasia Parade will definitely be postponed. Let's wait until Master is out of danger before considering it. We also need to explain to the citizens."

"We will repair and compensate for anything broken. We will not shirk responsibility. Whoever broke it will pay for it and personally apologize. If they're unwilling, I don't mind personally dragging them to apologize."

"Eh!"

Everyone in the Guild couldn't help but be startled.

Although Takeshi's original personality was very good, he was incredibly unpredictable in his transformations.

Especially when Takeshi transformed into Tyrant, he simply didn't reason with them.

"The fighting also stops here. If you feel it's not enough, we can continue in the open space behind the Guild any day. If you like it, we can fight every day."

"…"

Hearing Takeshi's words, everyone couldn't help but feel a bit deflated.

How come their battles seemed like children fighting in Takeshi's eyes?

They liked watching children fight, but that didn't mean they wanted to be the children fighting.

Of course, Takeshi was qualified to say such things. Although everyone was usually jovial, in a Mage Guild, strength was paramount.

Why were only S-Class Mages considered Guild Master candidates?

Because the first requirement to become Guild Master was strength. Without absolute strength, it was impossible to keep the mages of the Guild in check.

After this battle, Takeshi was unharmed, and Laxus was beaten half to death. There was no longer any dispute about who was the strongest in the Guild.

"Alright. Everyone, get moving."

"Yes!"

Everyone immediately sprang into action.

With Makarov in trouble, Takeshi was the acting Guild Master, and perhaps soon the true Guild Master. Everyone would obey his commands.

At this moment, Takeshi noticed Natsu and Gajeel. Both were bandaged and limping, their injuries appearing much more severe than others'.

He asked, "What happened to them? I took care of the Thunder God Tribe and Laxus, so why are they still so heavily injured?"

Happy explained, "They ran into each other on the street, then both fell victim to Fried's spell, and then the two of them, naturally, started fighting. Because they caused too much of a commotion, Erza later gave them a good beating."

Natsu and Gajeel both remained silent.

Natsu knew how formidable Erza was, usually acting like a mouse seeing a cat whenever he saw her.

Gajeel hadn't expected Erza to be so strong. No wonder even Aria, the leader of the Element 4, was defeated in an instant. Were all the S-Class Mages of Fairy Tail monsters?

"Phew... Being the Guild Master is really troublesome." Takeshi let out a light sigh.

Erza laughed. "Aren't you doing very well? Everyone in the Guild recognizes you, and you are deeply trusted by everyone."

"I'd rather not. I prefer taking S-Class Quests. Let Master remain the Guild Master." Takeshi said as he walked out.

"Takeshi, where are you going?"

"To the Mayor's office. Kardia Cathedral was destroyed, and I need to apologize."

After Takeshi returned to his original form, he was filled with regret.

How could he have gotten so carried away and started fighting there?

Such a large cathedral would cost an unknown amount to compensate. He definitely needed to make Laxus pay the bulk of it.

On the streets, people were discussing animatedly.

"The Fantasia Parade seems to be postponed until tomorrow night."

"What happened?"

"Because those guys from the Guild caused a huge ruckus yesterday. Rumor has it that the Guild Master's condition doesn't look good."

"No way. Is that old man going to retire just like that? Who will be the next Guild Master?"

"I heard it's Takeshi."

"Takeshi? He certainly is the most suitable candidate. What about Laxus?"

"Unclear."

Fairy Tail Guild.

Takeshi said, "Thanks to Porlyusica-sama, Master's life has finally been saved. Everyone, rest assured, Master is fine."

"That's wonderful."

"That old man certainly wouldn't die that easily."

Everyone in the Guild breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

When Makarov fell, everyone was extremely worried, as he had always treated each of them very well.

"However, the old man is getting on in years. You all should cause less trouble in the future, so the old man can be Guild Master peacefully for a few more years."

"I'm telling you in advance, when the old man asked me to be Guild Master, I told him that if I ever got tired of being Guild Master, I'd pass the position to Erza. If you don't want me to pass the Guild Master's position to Erza on my first day, then you all better behave."

"Eh!!!"

Everyone in the Guild was startled.

Takeshi as Master was fine. At least when he wasn't transformed, he was very approachable.

But if Erza became Master, that would be terrible. They'd be beaten nine times in three days. So, they'd better cause less trouble in the future.

Erza hadn't expected Takeshi to say that. Mirajane just smiled, she understood that Takeshi truly had no interest in the Guild Master's position.

Takeshi clapped his hands. "Alright, now let's prepare for the Fantasia Parade."

"Ohhhhh!"

Second Floor Infirmary.

Makarov sat up and looked at Laxus beside him. "Do you know what you've done?"

Laxus's body didn't move, but the slight tremor of his eyelids exposed the fact that he had already woken up.

Makarov didn't expose him and continued, "A Guild is a place that brings comrades together, an intermediary that introduces work, and a home for homeless children."

"This is not something that belongs to me, nor to you alone."

"A Guild gradually takes shape through mutual trust and morality, then transforms into a bond stronger and more resilient than anything else."

"Yet you betrayed morality and threatened the lives of your comrades. Such an act can never be forgiven."

Laxus knew feigning unconsciousness wouldn't work and opened his eyes. "I know. I just… wanted to make this Guild stronger, not to be looked down upon or mocked by anyone, to be the strongest Guild recognized by everyone."
