Chapter 174 - The Pulse of the Tenseigan!

"If you didn't know my name... how could you have found this place alone?"

The words of Otsutsuki Hamura echoed in Shinichi's mind, sending a jolt of adrenaline through his system. He looked up sharply, narrowing his eyes at the ancient figure.

"You know my name?!"

Shinichi had never introduced himself to this spirit. Yet, Hamura spoke with a terrifying certainty. If what the spirit said was true, then Hamura—a man who had been dead for over a millennium—had been watching him from the moon this entire time.

The implications were staggering. If Hamura could do this from the moon, then his brother, Hagoromo (The Sage of Six Paths), could likely do the same from Earth. These two brothers, whose power derived directly from Kaguya, existed on a plane of reality that defied common shinobi logic.

For a split second, Shinichi's mental fortitude wavered. He was a reincarnator—a soul from another world. Had his greatest secret been laid bare?

Hamura, sensing the shift in Shinichi's aura, offered a gentle, reassuring smile. "Don't be tense. I cannot harm you. As you can see, I am merely a ghost. What can the dead do to the living?"

"I watched you simply because I was drawn to your uniqueness," Hamura continued.

Shinichi's muscles remained coiled like a spring. "Uniqueness? What's so unique about me?"

Internally, he retraced his steps. He had always been careful, using his knowledge of the future behind layers of plausible deniability. He had never been reckless.

"Haven't you noticed?" Hamura asked, his voice tinged with genuine surprise. "Your chakra... those eyes... your presence in the Hyuga clan is like a sun among candles. Normal Hyuga do not possess such vast chakra reserves. Their Byakugan does not undergo the mutations yours has. Hyuga Shinichi, you are an anomaly."

Shinichi felt a wave of relief wash over him. Hamura wasn't talking about his soul; he was talking about his biology.

Shinichi knew his eyes were different. Ever since he reached adulthood, the "evolution" he had sensed as a child seemed to have plateaued. Aside from a heightened ability to manipulate Yin-Yang chakra through his ocular power, he hadn't gained the god-like abilities he expected. Compared to the monstrous physiques of the Senju or Uzumaki, he felt his Hyuga body was only marginally better than average. He had attributed his current strength to his own grueling training and his development of the Flying Thunder God and the Eight Inner Gates.

"By your expression," Hamura chuckled, "it seems you don't truly grasp your own value. That makes me even more satisfied with you."

"Your bloodline is undergoing Atavism—a reversion to its ancient roots. In a thousand years, no one will be like you. Your potential is limitless. I can help you awaken it, but in exchange, I have a request."

The Burden of the Moon

"A request?" Shinichi countered. "What could someone like you possibly need from me?"

Hamura didn't miss the subtle confirmation that Shinichi recognized him. He didn't mind. The fact that Shinichi had reached the moon gave him hope.

Hamura explained the tragedy of his lineage. While his brother Hagoromo had started the Ninja Creed on Earth to bring peace, Hamura had stayed on the moon to guard their mother's seal.

But the moon's Otsutsuki branch had failed where the Earth's had survived. Civil war had decimated them. The Branch House had used the "Giant Tenseigan"—a weapon forged from thousands of eyes—to wipe out the Main House, only to wither away themselves.

Now, only one child remained: Otsutsuki Toneri.

"The boy has no guidance," Hamura sighed. "He interprets our 'Ancestral Teachings' through a lens of isolation and grief. He believes the Earth's shinobi world is a failure and must be destroyed.

Now that the Gedo Mazo (Outer Path Statue) has been 'stolen' from the moon, Toneri believes the time for judgment has come."

Toneri was currently gathering power within a solar barrier Shinichi had seen earlier. If left alone, he would eventually drop the moon onto the Earth.

"You are the only one who can stop this," Hamura said solemnly. "The only one capable of protecting the world my brother built."

Shinichi finally understood. It wasn't just a chance encounter; it was a desperate plea from a dying god. He felt his wariness towards Hamura soften.

Both Hagoromo and Hamura had chosen to age and die naturally to let the world grow on its own, rather than ruling as immortal tyrants. That level of selflessness earned Shinichi's respect.

"What do you want me to do? Kill the boy?"

"No," Hamura replied. "Toneri is innocent of intent; he is simply lost. I want you to take him to the ninja world. Guide him like an older brother. Let him see the world for what it really is."

"And the reward?"

"I will trigger the true power within your blood. I will give you the strength to stand above the coming storm."

Shinichi frowned. "I'm not a teacher, and I'm not sure I'm more persuasive than 'Ancestral Law.' If he turns out to be a monster..."

"Then you shall be the one to execute him," Hamura interrupted firmly. "You will have the power to decide. But first, bring him to me. I will convince him to follow you."

The Awakening

Before Shinichi could react, Hamura's spirit lunged forward. Shinichi tried to trigger the Flying Thunder God, but the spirit passed through him like a cold mist.

A searing, white-hot agony exploded in Shinichi's eyes. He collapsed to one knee, clutching his face as his chakra flared violently, causing the cavern walls to tremble.

"What did you do?!" he hissed through gritted teeth.

"Be calm. I am merely opening your eyes," Hamura's voice echoed. "But now, you need a source of power to nourish them until the evolution is complete."

"A source? Where?"

"The Giant Tenseigan," Hamura said. "The weapon forged by the Branch House. It is a vessel of immense power, but it is not a 'true' Tenseigan. It is a battery. For you, it is the perfect fuel."

"I will send you there now... using your own technique."

Hamura's spirit hand gripped Shinichi's wrist. Shinichi felt his own chakra being hijacked. The spirit utilized Shinichi's body as a medium to trigger the Flying Thunder God across a massive distance.

Space-time warped.

When the world stabilized, Shinichi was no longer in the graveyard. He stood in the heart of a grand, silent castle. His vision was still clouded by the agonizing "pulse" in his eyes, but his sensory perception told him everything.

Directly in front of him sat a massive, spherical vessel radiating a terrifying amount of chakra.

The Giant Tenseigan.

Shinichi reached out, his hand trembling as it touched the cold surface of the container. As if recognizing its true master, the Giant Tenseigan began to glow with a blinding, prismatic light.

A flood of pure, ancient energy surged into Shinichi's pupils. The burning pain was replaced by a cool, refreshing sensation. He could feel his eyes... pulsing. It felt like a heartbeat—a fetal movement of a new god being born.

Outside the palace, the young Toneri felt the sudden activation of the Tenseigan. He rushed toward the hall, only to find the doors sealed by a barrier he could not bypass.

Inside the palace, the light began to fade as the energy was absorbed. Shinichi stood motionless, time itself seeming to stop.

Finally, he slowly opened his eyes.

The darkness of the hall was shattered. In Shinichi's pupils, there was no longer just a pale white. Instead, a brilliant, shimmering galaxy—a wheel of azure and silver stars—revolved within his gaze.

The Tenseigan had awakened.
