Chapter 36 - Old Man Jiang, What Do You Think of This Calligraphy?

"Mr. Lin, the seller has agreed to sell to you. Can we arrange for you to meet and sign the contract tomorrow? The entire transfer process will take about a week," the real estate agent called Lin Chen.

"No problem," Lin Chen replied.

"Then, Mr. Lin, we'll meet at the shop at nine o'clock tomorrow morning."

Time flew by, and the next day arrived.

Lin Xiaoxi's cough had improved significantly, and the problem wasn't serious anymore. Lin Chen's medical skills had also made substantial progress last night.

His total time spent on improving his medical skills had reached three hours.

Thirty hours and he could become a Master of Medical Skills; with three hours… he already possessed the skill of many old Chinese doctors.

Lin Xiaoxi only had a minor cold, so treatment was easy.

"Daddy, where are we going to play?"

Lin Xiaoxi looked left and right, asking cheerfully.

Lin Chen smiled and said, "Xiaoxi, don't you like our current house? Daddy will buy it, so we can live here forever."

"Really?"

Lin Xiaoxi's eyes lit up.

"Really."

Lin Chen said with doting affection.

Lin Xiaoxi looked at him expectantly. "Is Mom going to move in? I want to live with Dad and Mom, okay?"

"Of course, that would be great."

"But Mom won't be moving in for now. Mom's company is very busy, and it's more convenient for her to stay there," Lin Chen said.

They chatted for a while, and then Lin Chen arrived at the storefront outside the community.

"Mr. Lin, this is President Tan."

"President Tan, this is Mr. Lin and his daughter," the real estate agent introduced.

President Tan, the homeowner, reached out his hand and smiled. "Mr. Lin, it's a pleasure to meet you. You're truly accomplished for your age. To be so young and able to afford a house worth over ten million, it's impressive."

"President Tan, you flatter me," Lin Chen said with a slight smile.

The two parties had already agreed on the terms, so there were no unexpected complications. They signed the contract amicably.

With the contract signed, although the transfer hadn't been completed yet, the house essentially belonged to Lin Chen.

In the morning, Lin Chen cooperated with the real estate agent to handle some paperwork. The remaining tasks were mainly the agent's responsibility.

Tongxin Network headquarters.

"Chen, there's a package for you. Hey… Chen, this package is from Lin Yu."

An editor walked into the office with the package.

"Give it to me quickly."

Chen Xihan immediately said.

He took the package and carefully opened it.

"Chen, what is it? Why are you being so careful?"

Chen Xihan said, "How can I not be careful? The item inside cost someone thirty thousand to buy. You guys move back a bit, you'll have to pay if you break it."

Hearing this, several editors quickly moved away.

Chen Xihan retrieved the painting tube from the delivery box, relieved to see it was well-protected.

He opened the tube and pulled out the calligraphy written by Lin Chen.

"Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poems."

"This was written by Lin Yu?"

The group examined it closely.

However, only one of them had a decent level of understanding and could appreciate the artistic merit. The others could only scratch the surface.

"This—"

Chen Xihan was stunned.

Lin Chen's signature was written with a ballpoint pen. This one, however, was written with a brush, and Lin Chen seemed even more meticulous while writing it.

Chen Xihan appreciated the art, and it gave him a great shock.

That signature isn't Lin Yu's limit. The calligraphy level displayed in this copybook is even higher.

Chen Xihan thought to himself.

"Old Chen, what do you think?"

"Your calligraphy skills are much higher than mine, you tell me."

An old editor beside Chen Xihan asked.

Chen Xihan thought for a moment and said, "In the entire Huaguo, there are definitely no more than three people whose calligraphy skills are higher than this."

"I won't talk to you anymore, I have to go out for a while."

Chen Xihan carefully re-rolled and packed it up.

An hour later, Chen Xihan arrived at Jiang Xuesong's villa.

\n\n

"Old Jiang, this contains the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poems written by Lin Yu. I took a look before coming, just in case the courier swapped it," Chen Xihan said.

\n\n

Jiang Xuesong's eyes lit up.

\n\n

He put on his reading glasses and a pair of white gloves, and then he slowly took out the item.

\n\n

Unfolding the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poems written by Lin Yu, Jiang Xuesong's eyes widened, and his breathing became a little rapid.

\n\n

One minute, two minutes…

Chen Xihan waited for a full hour, watching Jiang Xuesong pore over every single character.

"Hoo!"

Jiang Xuesong straightened up, exhaling a long breath.

"Old Jiang, how is it?"

Chen Xihan quickly supported Jiang Xuesong.

Jiang Xuesong's eyes were a little moist. "Calligraphy is a treasure of Huaguo, but it has been declining in recent years. We, the older generation, are not as good as the ancients."

"I was afraid that Huaguo's calligraphy would decline, but now I know that our calligraphy will not decline."

"Although we are not up to par, there are still those who are."

Chen Xihan said, "Old Master Jiang, I can see that this is better than the previous signature, but I can't tell how much better. My abilities aren't enough to see that."

Jiang Xuesong took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, saying, "This piece isn't much worse than the real Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poems."

"If it's allowed to age and mature, it will become a rare treasure."

Chen Xihan swallowed hard.

This strong?

He really wanted to call Lin Chen and buy a piece now.

As the chief editor, he could still afford thirty thousand.

"Xiao Chen, I feel like thirty thousand is too little. This calligraphy, I think it's worth at least fifty thousand."

"I'll transfer another seven hundred thousand to you. Two hundred thousand is to make up the difference, and I'll buy another calligraphy piece for the other five hundred thousand," Jiang Xuesong said.

Chen Xihan nodded and called Lin Chen. "Lin Yu, Old Man Jiang received your Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poems. He said he wants to give you an additional two hundred thousand."

"He also wants to spend another five hundred thousand to buy another piece of calligraphy."

"I also want to buy a piece of calligraphy."

Lin Chen was surprised. He's giving him an extra two hundred thousand?

"Editor-in-Chief Chen, please tell Old Man Jiang that the deal is done. I don't need him to give me another two hundred thousand."

"Also, I don't need money anymore, so I won't be selling any more calligraphy."

Lin Chen said.

He wasn't planning on selling the painting, and of course, the calligraphy was the same. He liked money, but taking care of Lin Xiaoxi was the most important thing right now.

Fame… he'd think about that later.

"Lin Yu, you're not selling?"

Chen Xihan was stunned.

Lin Chen said, "I was in a hurry to buy a house before, but now I've bought one. I have enough money for now."

"Editor-in-Chief Chen, I'm sorry."

Chen Xihan said regretfully, "Alright then. Lin Yu, I won't bother you then. You go ahead and do your thing."

"Old Jiang, Lin Yu said he doesn't need any more money. Also, he doesn't lack money for the time being, and doesn't want to sell his works anymore."

Chen Xihan sighed softly.

Jiang Xuesong nodded. "Money is just a vulgar thing. A master like him won't be swayed by money. I only reached this level at seventy."

"I'm ashamed."

Chen Xihan continued, "Old Jiang, you're already very impressive. I probably won't be able to reach this level in my entire life."

"Little Chen, did Master Lin Yu say we can't display it?"

Jiang Xuesong asked.

Chen Xihan shook his head. "No."

"He sold it to you, so you can do whatever you want with it."

Jiang Xuesong said, "I plan to invite some people to appreciate it. Will that affect Master Lin Yu?"

Chen Xihan looked at the signature at the end.

"I'll cover that up later."

Jiang Xuesong said.

Chen Xihan smiled, "Then there's no problem."

"We're keeping the identity of Lin Yu, the big shot, confidential. Even I don't know his specific home address."
