Chapter 212 - Portal Activation

During this month, the expansion project of the wasteland workshop never ceased.

Under Osiris' clear directives and the 'administrator's' highest priority resource allocation, a large quantity of construction materials, energy cores, precision processing equipment, and skilled workers were continuously sent to the Wasteland Town. The workshop area, which was originally just a temporary outpost, was completely leveled and rebuilt.

A month later, a brand new, massive laboratory complex rose from the original site of the Wasteland Town.

Its style blended the gravitas of the Adeptus Mechanicus with the practicality of local materials. The overall structure was exceptionally sturdy, capable of withstanding direct hits from heavy weaponry.

The interior space was strictly divided into different functional areas: the main control center, energy arrays, life support zone, weapon testing grounds, biological sample analysis rooms, and the most crucial, a large dimensional teleporter installation hall.

This newly constructed dimensional teleporter installation hall was thirty meters high and occupied a vast area.

At the center of the hall was a massive circular structure made of superconducting metals and special crystals. Its surface was engraved with complex energy flow patterns, connected to the dimensional teleporter that Osiris carried with him.

Countless thick energy pipelines, like giant pythons, extended from the surrounding walls and floor, connecting to various interfaces on the base of the circular structure.

A powerful energy field permeated the entire hall, and the air was filled with a faint scent of ozone and ionized metal.

On the day the main laboratory structure was completed, Osiris left his temporary residence in Night City and returned to his fortress.

Without any delay, he immediately directed the Servitors and engineers to precisely install the dimensional teleporter, which was in a safely sealed state, into the core position of the large dimensional teleporter array.

Installation, debugging, energy infusion. A series of complex and precise operations were efficiently completed under Osiris' direct control.

Once all physical connections and energy circuits were confirmed to be active, Osiris did not immediately activate the cross-dimensional transmission.

He first performed a complete system self-check. A massive data stream rapidly exchanged between his processing core and the dimensional teleporter's main control system, verifying the status of tens of thousands of nodes.

After confirming everything was in order, he activated the low-power operating mode.

The circular structure began to emit a low hum, and a faint blue light flowed through the patterns, but it did not form a complete portal. Osiris closely monitored the energy fluctuation curves, spatial stability readings, and structural stress data.

He conducted several short, micro-spatial disturbance tests not directed at any specific coordinates, to verify the system's response speed and control precision.

The entire process lasted about thirty minutes, ensuring that every component of this newly built large-scale equipment was in absolute controllable and optimal condition.

Finally, all preliminary tests passed.

Osiris issued the official activation command.

The energy output instantly increased to the predetermined level. The space in the center of the circular structure was torn and twisted by powerful forces. A faint blue light condensed and rotated, eventually forming a stable, rotating vortex more than twenty meters in diameter.

Inside the vortex, light and shadows distorted, as if connected to an unknown abyss. The powerful spatial disturbance caused the air in the hall to tremble slightly.

Osiris' crimson optical lenses stared intently at the dimensional teleporter, his processing core monitoring every energy reading.

Stability reached the expected threshold.

Through an encrypted data link, he issued the traverse command to the Astoria Family squad, who had already been waiting at the other end in the Death World Base.

The next moment, a huge energy fluctuation erupted from the center of the dimensional teleporter.

The first to pass through was Maenna Astoria, piloting the "Avenging Goddess" class Questoris Knight.

The nearly twelve-meter-tall steel giant stepped out of the faint blue vortex, its heavy metal feet landing on the hall's specially reinforced floor with a dull thud like a giant hammer striking.

Its chassis lines were sharp, its armor thick, and the Reaper Chainsword was retracted to its side. Its massive size and menacing aura instantly filled a large portion of the space.

Next, Margaret Limgrave's "Lancer" class Armiger Knight leaped out with agile grace. Her frame was relatively slender, a Shock Lance held horizontally in her hand, and the Ion Shield generator glowed faintly on her shoulder.

Following was Maria Limgrave's "Warglaive" class Armiger Knight, with its heavy Meltagun and Thermal Spear emphasizing its fire support role.

Finally, Sophia's "Preceptor" class Questoris Knight, with balanced equipment, a Las-Impulsor, and a Chainsword, indicating her multi-functional battlefield role.

Four knight mecha, like Titans emerging from mythology, stood in the spacious dimensional teleporter hall.

Behind them, the ten Armiger-class mecha and some core members of the Relic Maintenance team also passed through the still fluctuating dimensional teleporter in sequence.

The brief sensory deprivation and temporal disorientation caused by the traversal quickly faded. Inside the cockpits of the knight mecha, Maenna Astoria was the first to regain full spatial awareness.

As he initiated a scan, he asked in a deep voice over the comms channel, "Margaret, Maria, Sophia, report status."

"Mechanical systems operating normally," Margaret's voice carried a slight breathlessness from the traversal.

"System self-check all normal," Maria followed closely.

"Armiger mecha array intact, maintenance team confirming status," Sophia's voice was the most steady.

After receiving confirmation, Maenna then initiated the external environment scan.

Through the panoramic cockpit, he saw the hall, filled with an alien technological style. The air was permeated with energy signatures and chemical odors distinctly different from those of the Forge World.

As the augury array scanned, data streams rapidly scrolled across the display interface.

"Environmental composition analysis: nitrogen-oxygen ratio close to standard, unknown trace compounds present. Energy readings show abnormal background radiation levels, detecting high-intensity, unknown-pattern energy field remnants." He paused briefly, then added the most critical structural assessment, "Architectural structure identified as conventional standard, below Imperial basic defensive fortification rating."

"Confirmed arrival at target dimension," Maenna's voice was as steady as ever, "Maintain defensive formation, await further instructions."

Margaret and Maria also completed their basic environmental scans almost simultaneously.

Although they had received detailed mission briefings beforehand, the personal experience of dimensional traversal and truly setting foot in an alien world brought a sense of impact far beyond what written descriptions could convey.

The young sisters' breathing quickened slightly within their cockpits. Their mecha's sensors continuously transmitted data with subtle differences from their home world. The atmospheric composition was mixed with unfamiliar industrial emission residues, and the spectral characteristics of the environmental background radiation were also completely different.

Sophia's voice sounded in the comms channel, interrupting their thoughts: "Everyone stay focused. Armiger mecha, deploy in the pre-designated formation. Maintenance team, begin comprehensive inspection immediately, prioritizing power cores and weapon systems."

Her instructions were clear and efficient.

Under her command, the ten Armiger-class mecha quickly moved to strategic positions in the hall, forming a circular defensive line.

The Relic Maintenance team members were already working around the four knight mecha. They held various ceremonial instruments, chanting prayers to appease the machine spirits while using specialized equipment to detect any subtle damage the mecha might have sustained during traversal.
