Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: The Quiet After the Solar Storm

Zhou Yi opened his eyes to warm-toned walls and dim lighting.

It was a dark, gloomy night, but outside the window, there was a striking whiteness.

He focused his gaze and realized that large goose-feather-like snowflakes were falling outside.

The ground was covered in a thick layer of snow.

Under the reflection of the snow, the deep night was dyed with a pleasing white.

Seeing the White, Zhou Yi was stunned for a moment, then shook his head as if realizing something, revealing a faint bitter smile.

It was almost Christmas, so how could it not snow?

It seemed he had been too busy lately, even his sense of time was confused.

Thinking of this, he covered his head and sat up from the clean, warm bed.

Although his brain was still in a dazed state due to prolonged hibernation, it no longer affected his ability to judge his surroundings.

This was a hospital room, at least it looked like it.

Zhou Yi could make a rough judgment from the various monitoring instruments around him and the hospital gown he was wearing.

However, Zhou Yi was not quite sure where this hospital room was.

He only hoped it wasn't in a hospital room in Paris, because that would increase the possibility of his identity being exposed to a certain extent.

At the same time, and most crucially, Zhou Lan and Charisse would know about it, which was what he least wanted to happen.

Of course, another part of the reason was that he didn't want to bear the astronomical reconstruction debt of a devastated Paris.

He was rich, true, but not for spending like this.

Actually, for Zhou Yi, all this was just aimless fantasizing.

If he really wanted to know the answer, he could completely activate his Super Vision to precisely locate himself, which would definitely be much better than GPS.

But he didn't have such thoughts; after such a battle, he suddenly found some weariness growing in his heart.

This was not to say that he had developed an aversion to the dangerous career of a Superhero.

Rather, he needed some time to catch his breath.

Everything that had happened recently had caused a strong sense of aversion in his spirit; he had already received the praise of a hero, and it was time to rest for a while.

With this mindset, he began to develop the idea of controlling his power and experiencing life as an ordinary person, letting Dawn Knight temporarily withdraw from this World; this was not necessarily a bad thing for him.

At the very least, it could allow him to avoid troublesome public opinion.

He was very clear about one thing: regarding the events in Paris, public opinion would not be very favorable to him.

Although he saved Paris, for the city, his arrival was precisely what brought them this disaster.

Humans were not idiots; they would eventually discover that the root cause of everything was his gamble with Magneto.

And once someone with ulterior motives aimed their cannons at him, he didn't have the leisure to make any excuses for himself.

Rather than waiting to die, it was better to simply disappear.

When the next disaster came, humans would always remember his good deeds.

Appearing then would be the wisest choice.

As a businessman, it was not at all surprising for him to harbor such thoughts in his innate nature.

He also didn't need to change anything because of his hero status.

He was he, the unique Dawn Knight—Zhou Yi.

He didn't need to accommodate anyone.

Zhou Yi silently calculated his plans for the near future, at this moment.

Someone pushed open the door and walked in; it was Ororo.

She was wearing casual home clothes and carrying steaming food and Water.

Apparently, this was prepared for someone, and Zhou Yi was quite sure he was that lucky guy.

However, what he cared about was not this, but Ororo's somewhat haggard expression.

Although she used light makeup to conceal her complexion, Zhou Yi was still able to keenly notice her slightly dark eye bags and thinner cheeks.

"Hey, Darling.

What should I say, long time no see?"

Temporarily suppressing this question in his heart, Zhou Yi greeted Ororo.

Hearing this familiar voice, Ororo's hand trembled.

A clear smile began to appear on her face; she looked towards the source of the sound, where the person she knew best was leaning on the bed, smiling and waving at her.

"Thank God, Yi.

You're finally awake!"

Ororo replied eagerly, rushing to the bedside almost in a pouncing posture.

Such a violent movement almost knocked over the plate in her hand, but luckily Zhou Yi protected these important items.

To be honest, he was starving.

One hand holding Ororo's hand, the other hand steadily pressing down on the plate, Zhou Yi said with a smile.

"Darling, you're too excited.

Let me guess, is it the big surprise that I finally woke up after sleeping for many years that made you unable to control your emotions?"

"Yi!"

Ororo drew out her voice and gave him a chiding look, but her other hand tightly clasped Zhou Yi's large hand.

As if drawing warmth and security, her hand squeezed so hard that her knuckles began to turn slightly White.

And she herself just stared at Zhou Yi with a gentle gaze.

She seemed unable to use words to express her feelings, only this most direct way.

As for Ororo's actions, Zhou Yi smiled and gently stroked the back of her hand.

He felt Ororo's inner emotions, which made him proud and guilty.

Proud, because there was a woman who loved him so much.

Guilty, because he had made her worry and fear so much.

For a moment, the two fell into a tender silence.

Sometimes, emotions become more resilient in the face of great hardship.

This was the case for Zhou Yi and Ororo; their feelings deepened because of this incident, and they delved deeper into each other's hearts.

The two warmed each other's palms and hearts in this way, until Zhou Yi's stomach let out a grumbling protest.

Only then did Ororo I couldn't help but laugh out loud..

"Sorry, I forgot you must be starving now.

I just routinely prepared some things.

I didn't expect you to really wake up."

"Thank goodness, having food is better than not having any.

" Zhou Yi directly picked up the sandwich on the tray, with thick toast sandwiching glistening fried beef and an aesthetically pleasing fried egg.

Of course, crisp green vegetables and sauce were indispensable.

It seemed that because it was made entirely to Zhou Yi's taste, the sandwich's sauce did not use ordinary salad dressing, but rather chili sauce, which few people loved.

Of course, the generous portion also catered to Zhou Yi's preference.

For this kind of sandwich, which looked excellent, tasted quite good, and was made entirely to his liking, Zhou Yi was absolutely not stingy with a little praise.

After wolfing down the sandwich in his hand, he began to speak in an exaggerated tone.

"Ororo, I think your cooking skills have made a Breakthrough.

According to my assessment as a professional gourmet, your sandwiches have definitely reached World-class standards.

Perhaps I should call all the head chefs from those Samsung Michelin restaurants and have them come and learn together."

"Oh my goodness, you're being too exaggerated.

I think you must be starving, your brain can't even distinguish flavors anymore."

Ororo gave him a White look, but she was smiling happily.

"Is that so?

But I'm really starving.

I think I could even eat a hundred such sandwiches.

Or go directly to an eating contest; I think I could eat all the food on the field."

"Then you'll be headline news: Billionaire binges at eating contest, organizers strongly demand he pay the bill.

Hey, slow down.

You should drink something."

"Thanks, Darling.

" Taking the hot milk from Ororo's hand, Zhou Yi directly finished the cup.

After thoroughly satisfying his hunger, he put down the cup and asked Ororo.

"Darling, can you tell me how long I was unconscious and what happened afterward?"

"Don't worry!"

Ororo carefully cleaned the food crumbs from him, a gentle smile on her face.

"Magneto has completely disappeared; given his character, he shouldn't appear in front of Rogue again.

Also, Jean and Logan only suffered minor injuries and recovered quickly.

Only you, you've been unconscious for a week.

I didn't dare take you to a hospital, so I had to use the Academy's plane to bring you back to the Academy.

However, I've already found an excuse for your family; you were asked by us to help evacuate some Parisian compatriots and couldn't leave temporarily.

This excuse should buy us some more time."

"Alright, it seems everything is fine.

But, Ororo.

Can you tell me why you're so haggard?

Your complexion doesn't look very good, in fact, it looks terrible.

I can see it even through your makeup."

"Just some small things, and of course, the main reason is worrying about you.

There are no other problems; I'll recover quickly."

Ororo's face showed a clearly feigned smile, as she tried to muddle through with words.

But for Zhou Yi, this was completely useless.

His understanding of Ororo was enough for him to discern whether every word she spoke was true or false.

Gently holding her hand, Zhou Yi put on a sincere smile.

"Darling, I'm very happy you're so worried about me.

But I know this isn't everything; I understand my own condition very well, and it wouldn't make you so haggard.

Tell me the truth, okay?

We are each other's other half, and you can completely hand over all your burdens to me."

"There's really nothing, Yi!"

"Ororo, look into my eyes.

Tell me what difficulty you're hiding in your heart, okay?"

"Alright!"

Ororo let out a difficult breath; she indeed needed someone to share the pressure on her shoulders.

"Something happened at the Academy; Professor and Scott both suddenly disappeared.

Jean's mental state is a bit unstable, and Logan seems to have relapsed into an old problem.

And the most crucial thing is that only the three of us and Hank are at the Academy; I'm under a lot of pressure because I have to take care of the school while Professor is away."

"But, precisely at this time, a big incident occurred.

The President was attacked by a Mutant; although there was no life-threatening issue, the President has already demanded a proposal to address the Mutant problem.

At this point, I really don't know what to do."

Listening to Ororo's outpouring, Zhou Yi silently hugged her and gently kissed her forehead.

"Don't worry, Darling.

I'll help you solve these problems."

"No, you don't have to.

Your own problems are very serious; we can solve this problem.

You don't need help, really.

Yi, you don't need to get involved here.

It has nothing to do with you; you're already in enough trouble."

Ororo immediately refused Zhou Yi's kindness; she knew what kind of public opinion was currently circulating.

Dawn Knight also faced things that were no less difficult than theirs.

She really didn't want Zhou Yi to do such a foolish thing at this time.

"No, Darling.

This is related to me, at least where Professor is concerned, we still have a connection."

"Professor?"

Ororo's voice immediately showed clear confusion; she had discovered something she didn't know.
