Chapter 74 - Chapter 73 - Before the War

Kinvara entered the room and took in the scene before her: the princess, completely naked, sitting on the lap of Cadmus, who was equally naked and bathing. She couldn't help but think that youth was truly vibrant. The princess wasted no time in winning over her beloved's heart. The High Priestess decided she would offer Daenerys some advice on such matters.

"Kinvara," Daenerys greeted the High Priestess with a smile. She was still sitting on Cadmus's lap, facing him, pressing her small breasts against his chest. Kinvara and she had become friends quickly.

"I apologize for interrupting your intimacy, Princess," Kinvara said with an elegant and graceful smile, looking at Daenerys and Cadmus. As for the nudity, her expression remained indifferent. After living for five hundred years, what hadn't she seen? It wasn't just her; most people were indifferent to nudity.

"Don't call me Princess," Daenerys said, sounding dissatisfied with Kinvara's respectful tone. Her new friend's only flaw was being too formal. It left her feeling helpless, for even when asked, Kinvara still maintained proper decorum.

Kinvara smiled and didn't respond. In her eyes, Daenerys was the embodiment of the Red God; how could she not be respectful toward the princess? However, she understood that the princess saw her as a friend. It was lovely, as she hadn't had a friend in a long time.

"What brings you to my humble room?" Cadmus asked, hugging Daenerys tightly and resting his chin on top of the princess's head. He didn't believe Kinvara had so much free time to waste on him and Daenerys.

"I will be going to the front lines with the princess," Kinvara said bluntly. She had seen in the flames that Daenerys would be going to the battlefield; how could she stand idly by in the face of that fact? The thought of Daenerys getting hurt left her quite uneasy.

Daenerys couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. She had only just learned that she would be going to the battlefield; how could Kinvara already know?

"The Red Priestesses and Priests can see the future through the flames, though it isn't exactly precise," Cadmus whispered into Daenerys's ear, causing her to wear a completely shocked expression, which the mage found quite adorable.

Daenerys couldn't help but feel a shiver at the thought of being an enemy to such a powerful religious organization. Hypothetically, if someone decided to attack the Red Faith, they might die the next day without even starting their plan.

The power of the future was the best defense anyone could have.

"All right, you are always welcome." Daenerys didn't refuse Kinvara. Only a fool would turn down such a good shield by her side. She wouldn't even have to worry about being attacked; Kinvara would handle everything quietly.

Kinvara nodded in satisfaction; Daenerys accepting her presence meant many things, especially trust. "Let me help you bathe." Approaching the tub, the High Priestess spoke in a graceful and gentle tone.

Cadmus looked at the woman and laughed. "If others knew the High Priestess was bathing two people, it would certainly cause a shock in Essos."

The mage wasn't lying. Kinvara's status in Essos was transcendental. The woman had been alive for over five hundred years; legends about her were as numerous as the drops of water in the sea, and that was no exaggeration.

Daenerys laughed as well, finding the fact quite funny. "He's right; I imagine how many people would have their hearts broken if they saw the dignified Kinvara doing such menial and humble work."

Carefully wetting Cadmus's hair, Kinvara smiled at their teasing and continued to grin. She massaged his hair while bathing Cadmus's body with water, which ran down his skin and fell back into the tub.

Suddenly, Kinvara noticed her clothes were getting wet, and in a few moments, she was equally naked as she knelt behind Cadmus, helping him bathe.

Daenerys looked at Kinvara's beautiful, mature body with envy. She knew she would never have so many curves; Targaryen women simply weren't born with the gift of voluptuous curves. However, though she felt envious, she didn't feel inferior.

The princess had seen firsthand how attractive her body was to Cadmus, so while she envied Kinvara's beautiful form, she didn't feel the least bit inferior.

"You are truly beautiful; I imagine how many men have fallen under your charm, Kinvara." Resting her chin on Cadmus's shoulder, Daenerys spoke in a curious tone.

"Two," Kinvara laughed and replied in a rather indifferent tone.

Daenerys's eyes widened; she did the math, and by Kinvara's words, she had a lover every two hundred and fifty years.

"I was never a woman of much lust; if it weren't for curiosity, I would still be a virgin." As if noticing Daenerys's curiosity, Kinvara responded with a smile. "Serving my god is more pleasurable than any man."

Daenerys truly couldn't feel any empathy for Kinvara's words. After having experienced the feeling of love and the pleasure of kisses and other things, she couldn't believe someone could refuse something so good and pleasurable.

"Kinvara, when will you begin the pilgrimage?" Cadmus asked in a calm tone. After six thousand years, the Faith of the Seven was deeply rooted in the people of Westeros. Fortunately, people lived to be about forty or sixty years old. So, even over such a long period, the people's reverence hadn't reached the levels of Warhammer.

If the people's faith were at the level of the Astartes, Cadmus would turn around and never set foot in Westeros. The Astartes' faith in their Emperor of Mankind was vast, searing, and incredibly loyal.

"During the war, of course," Kinvara said with a slightly cold smile. "There is no better way to promote the Red Faith than by reviving the dead before a crowd."

Cadmus had to admit Kinvara was right. No matter how skeptical someone might be, in the face of the miracle of resurrection, atheism was nothing. He could imagine how shocked the soldiers and nobles would be to see the dead returning to life.

"As for the Red Priestesses, they have spread throughout the Crownlands and will share the holy scriptures with the people. They will heal ailments and offer counsel to the common folk. They will welcome the Lord of Light with open arms," Kinvara said in a calm tone.

Although she wanted to spread the faith of R'hllor across the entire continent, she knew indoctrination had to be done step by step, or these people wouldn't embrace the Red Faith with devotion but would still support the Faith of the Seven.

As they say, haste is the enemy of perfection—especially when it comes to uprooting such an ancient religion.

Cadmus nodded; it seemed Kinvara wasn't overly anxious for quick results. However, it wasn't surprising that the woman was so patient and experienced. The war for faith in Essos was a thousand times more voracious than in Westeros.

"If you need help, don't hesitate to ask," Cadmus said with a smile. He was more than willing to see those disgusting old men suffer at the hands of the High Priestess.

"I will need your help, Cadmus," Kinvara said with a smile. "Especially with your magical bird."

Cadmus looked at Kinvara in surprise; he hadn't imagined she would need Mitra. He was confused as to how Mitra could be of help to her.

"Your bird practically personifies fire and light; how could I let such an attractive symbol of power escape the people's notice?" Kinvara said with a smile. She had long wanted to get her hands on Mitra, that beautiful and noble bird.

Cadmus didn't refuse Kinvara's request; it was a small favor, and most importantly, he didn't have to do anything!

Mitra, who had been sleeping, opened her eyes and looked at her master with a resentful gaze. Cadmus had sold her out without any hesitation, which left the bird furious. However, instead of taking her anger out on Cadmus, she didn't hesitate to peck at the little dragon, who was sleeping comfortably.

Caraxes, who had been enjoying a sweet and gentle sleep, couldn't help but be furious at being attacked and, without any hesitation, fought back with ferocity. Unfortunately, a child is a child. Despite his ferocity, the little dragon was subdued and had his head pecked countless times.

The dragon looked to Cadmus for help with tear-filled eyes, but saw for the first time how the universe didn't care about him, as Cadmus looked away and pretended not to see a thing.

Caraxes had only one thought in his mind.

Is it too late to choose another rider?
