Just as Cadmus was about to move on to the next topic of conversation, the door was abruptly thrown open, and a young man with silver-blonde hair and a furious expression stormed into the king's office.
"You left me in Harrentown!!!" the young man shouted, his face twisted with anger and resentment. He couldn't believe he had been left behind at such a delicate moment, especially in enemy territory.
Rhaegar finally remembered what he had forgotten at Harrenhal. He couldn't help but twitch his lips, realizing he had forgotten his younger brother...
"I didn't forget you. Since you were busy enjoying yourself, I didn't want to disturb you," the king lied without even a hint of an abnormal reaction, as if he were speaking the absolute truth. He obviously couldn't admit that he had actually forgotten Viserys.
Viserys looked visibly better at Rhaegar's words, but he let out a cold huff before glancing at the young man with black hair and dark green eyes.
Honestly, any woman would be completely enchanted to be among the three men present. Whether it was Rhaegar, Cadmus, or even Viserys, all three were truly handsome—so handsome it would make anyone wonder how such beautiful people could exist.
"This must be the mage." Viserys looked Cadmus up and down. While returning to King's Landing, he had heard the rumors and looked at Cadmus in surprise. "They say you have four arms, two heads, sleep on a bed of bones, and drink the blood of virgins."
Cadmus's face darkened instantly. Four arms!? Two heads!? Sleeping on a bed of bones!? Drinking the blood of virgins!? Damn, does someone think he's Sukuna? Who the hell would sleep on a bed of bones?
Cadmus vowed to torture whoever spread such lies for a long time, tarnishing his beautiful and flawless reputation. He was an extremely handsome young man without any beastly features!
"By the way, is it true?" Viserys approached Rhaegar and asked in an extremely excited tone. "Did Dany really bring dragons back to life?"
Rhaegar looked surprised but still nodded. This was likely the longest conversation he had had with his younger brother since their father's death. "Yes, Daenerys has Balerion, I have Meraxes, and Naerys has Vhagar."
"Good names..." Viserys murmured with a look of expectation and fervor. In his eyes, the names were perfect. They were the first dragons in nearly two hundred years; there were no better names to honor Aegon and his sister-wives.
"Do we have more dragon eggs hidden on Dragonstone?" Viserys asked excitedly, completely forgetting he had been left behind. In his eyes, nothing was more important than having a dragon.
Ignoring that Viserys had just revealed one of House Targaryen's secrets—a secret vault on Dragonstone—Rhaegar spoke in a calm tone. "I will be leaving for Harrenhal again in three days. I don't have time to go to Dragonstone."
Viserys understood the implications of Rhaegar's words. There was no time, especially with other Noble Houses becoming increasingly restless, House Greyjoy in particular.
Viserys frowned, and a hint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes. Balon's second rebellion had truly angered him. His brother had the mercy to spare Balon's life, yet the salt raper still dared to rebel again.
"I can get an egg myself," Viserys said calmly. He wasn't the spoiled boy Aerys had raised. After experiencing two rebellions (Robert's and Balon's), he had long since lost that naivety and knew that House Targaryen's situation was truly precarious.
Rhaegar nodded, unconcerned, then looked at Viserys and then at Cadmus. "Daenerys is betrothed to Cadmus. He will be our Good-brother."
Viserys, who was only thinking about dragon eggs, stopped what he was doing and looked at Rhaegar in surprise. The Dance of the Dragons was something every Targaryen knew, so he couldn't believe his brother would actually have Daenerys, a Dragonrider, marry Cadmus.
"It was Cadmus who helped hatch the dragons," Rhaegar added calmly, as if sensing Viserys's shock.
Viserys's eyes changed drastically. He approached Cadmus, put his arm around the mage's shoulder, and smiled amiably. "My Good-brother, before you get married, I'll introduce you to all the brothels in King's Landing. Believe me, I know where the best prostitutes are."
Cadmus and Rhaegar couldn't help but look at Viserys, speechless. His intentions were so obvious that even a fool would know what he wanted.
"Don't worry, I won't leave my good-brother without a dragon," Cadmus said with a smile. He liked Viserys's personality. The young man seemed like a real prince, no longer the beggar king of Westeros. "As for the brothels, let's set that aside. I don't want Daenerys killing every woman I lay a finger on."
Viserys looked at Cadmus with pity and compassion. As Daenerys's brother, having spent the most time with her, how could he not know his younger sister's quirks? Daenerys was a torch that never knew when it would burn your hand.
So, he truly felt sorry for Cadmus for marrying a crazy girl. Giving a look that every man would understand, he whispered to Cadmus with a smile, "Don't worry, I'll give you some tips on how to subdue Dany in bed. I'm a professional at giving women pleasure."
Cadmus felt truly insulted that Viserys would assume he needed tips to satisfy a woman in bed. Whether in this life or his past life, he was a handsome man, so he had experience from two worlds.
And even if he hadn't slept with as many women as Viserys had over the years, he was no novice!
Although Viserys had whispered, in the quiet room, the Prince of Roses' voice could still be heard by the most attentive ears, which was the case with Rhaegar. He glared at Viserys, unable to believe that his mother had truly spoiled him.
"Thanks, but I don't need them." As a man, Cadmus could never accept such a thing.
Viserys shrugged, unbothered. The smile faded from his face, and he spoke in a solemn tone. "If you ever do any harm to Daenerys, I swear I will kill you."
"I love that woman. You don't need to worry," Cadmus admitted his feelings for Daenerys without any hesitation, making both Viserys and Rhaegar smile with satisfaction. As brothers, all they wanted was for their sister to have a happy marriage, or at least a decent one.
"Very well. Let's prepare for the wedding at Harrenhal, your fief," Rhaegar said with a smile. He felt that a wedding was a good way to gather all the Lords and Ladies of the Seven Kingdoms, allowing his loyalists to assemble as quickly as possible while also giving those who had switched sides a chance to come to him.
It was like killing two birds with one stone!
Cadmus nodded. He wanted to get married as soon as possible so he could focus on the future without worrying about such things. Besides, this wedding was a great way to make money!!! His potions would become a rare commodity at the wedding.
Nobles would spend true fortunes to get just one vial of healing potion or any other magical concoction.
After all, he needed money to buy stone to rebuild Harrenhal. A castle of that size would consume massive amounts of stone just to repair the towers, not to mention the walls and the construction of the Moat.
The most important part of the castle, besides the walls, was the Moat—the pinnacle of siege engineering in the medieval world. With a moat, a siege could last for months, if not years! Of course, gathering the materials would be the only slow part; with magic, the reconstruction of the castle would be very fast.
Viserys looked at Cadmus with a smile and then turned to Rhaegar, speaking with a solemn look. "I'm going to see our mother. Remember to let me know when you're leaving."
Watching Viserys leave the office, Rhaegar let out a sigh.
"The relationship between the king and the prince is better than expected," Cadmus commented with a smile on his lips.
"That was the first time in years we've exchanged more than two words," Rhaegar replied with a guilty tone, rolling his eyes.
"He was furious that I imprisoned my father in the Tower of the Hand, especially after Aerys died in that tower a few years later," Rhaegar said, looking at Cadmus.
Cadmus nodded, feeling that family ties were truly complicated. He only hoped his own sons and daughters wouldn't turn out that way.
