Chapter 71 - Chapter 71

Linen didn't care about Wanda's decisiveness or how ruthlessly she handled the two mercenaries.

If someone dared to assassinate him, she would turn them to ashes without hesitation.

If anything, Linen would've been even more ruthless.

Seeing that Linen wasn't disturbed or upset by her "too ruthless" approach, Wanda sighed in relief.

She stepped closer with a gentle smile.

"Dear… have you offended anyone in this universe?"

Linen thought for a moment, then shook his head.

Before or after gaining the system, he rarely offended anyone.

Even when Mysterious Files aired and a bunch of self-proclaimed atheist scientists accused him of fabricating evidence, he only laughed it off.

It wasn't generosity—

it was simply that a tiger doesn't waste energy getting angry at a swarm of ants.

As for the rest…

Whenever he did "judge" missions, he always wore a mask.

No one knew his identity except those exposed by the system.

Wanda saw him shake his head and immediately leaned into his arms like a delicate, harmless girl.

If Linen didn't know how terrifyingly powerful and ruthlessly decisive she truly was, he might actually believe that innocent act.

At the same time —

"Fu—!"

Tony Stark, fully suited in armor, looked at the groaning attackers on the ground and cursed loudly.

He turned to Pepper with an apologetic look.

"Sorry. These idiots ruined our New Year's Eve midnight snack."

Pepper's expression was serious.

"It doesn't matter, Tony. What matters is figuring out who sent them after you. If you can't find the mastermind, you'll be in constant danger."

Tony tried to reassure her and sent her back to bed.

As soon as she left, he looked again at the mercenaries rolling on the ground and groaning.

Early morning

Leaving the warmth of the bed, Linen stretched in front of the window.

The crackling of his joints made him sigh with satisfaction.

Completely unscientific.

Good thing his physical stats were twice those of a normal human.

If not, he wouldn't survive Wanda—

a woman who traveled across the multiverse just to demand his help… to have a child.

Tsk.

Wasn't Wanda just a mage?

With this physical ability, Linen seriously suspected that after mastering Chaos Magic, she had also strengthened her physical body.

Hearing Wanda hum softly in the kitchen while preparing breakfast, Linen headed to wash up.

He had to admit it:

being taken care of like this for half a month felt amazing.

He even wondered if he could ever leave this gentle—and terrifying—Wanda.

He also learned a few things about her universe.

For example—

Her universe actually had mutants.

In the mutant universe, Wanda was Magneto's daughter.

But the Wanda in front of him clearly wasn't.

Strange.

Which of the countless parallel universes was her home?

He was also still confused about whether the TVA base that appeared on the day he "hung the sun" belonged to a Loki from this universe.

Wanda wasn't sure either.

She'd met far too many Lokis in the TVA.

After washing up, Linen joined Wanda for breakfast—

but halfway through the meal, his phone rang.

He picked it up.

Tony Stark's voice exploded through the speaker:

"Linen, have you been attacked!?"

"Huh?"

Linen frowned. "Wait. You were attacked too?"

"That's right."

Inside Tony Stark's villa

Tony looked at Steve Rogers and Maria Hill solemnly.

"A group of guys tried to ambush me at home last night. Luckily Jarvis warned me and I got into the armor in time.

I caught them alive, but they're just a bunch of mercenaries smuggled from Europe."

"I tried tracking the payment account—it's offshore. But I traced the owner to somewhere in Europe."

He paused.

"Not just us. Natasha was attacked last night too… and the attacker kidnapped her. The European S.H.I.E.L.D. branch is trying to capture him now."

"Linen, whoever is targeting us won't stop.

You need to come here—we have to investigate this together."

Linen nodded.

"Understood."

After hanging up, he calmly finished his breakfast.

"Tony Stark?" Wanda asked.

"Yes."

Linen briefly explained how he met Tony and Natasha.

Of course, he didn't mention the "judge" identity.

He pretended Tony had no idea.

After breakfast, Linen drove to Tony's villa—Wanda naturally followed.

When they arrived, Tony and Steve were both startled.

"Wow, Linen—this your girlfriend? She's stunning!" Tony said.

Before Linen could answer, Wanda smiled warmly.

"My name is Wanda. Yes, I'm his girlfriend."

"Wanda?"

Tony and Steve exchanged looks.

Inside the system's viewing room, Linen had once said Wanda was his wife.

Nick Fury even ordered a search for her afterward but found nothing.

Only a file on "Wanda Django Maximoff" from Sokovia existed.

Yet now—

Wanda was right beside Linen.

Before they could ask anything, Hill entered quickly.

"News from Europe—Linen, this situation might be heavily related to you."

Linen raised an eyebrow.

"Me? I don't remember having any enemies in Europe."
