After the broadcast of this episode of Linen's show, the response was overwhelming.
Although the audience couldn't fully understand what Linen had said to the "ghost" in the bedroom, the bizarre scenes — the eerie green flames, the jaw opening wider than its own head without tearing, the swarming insects spewing out, and the pendant in Linen's hand glowing with golden light — all became the subject of heated online debate.
Soon, the internet was ablaze with speculation about what kind of "pendant" Linen had used.
As the topic continued to trend, Jessica and Barbara quickly mobilized their network of informants to fan the flames.
Before long, countless posts surfaced online showing the address of the East Coast Studio in Queens, along with photos of the very same "exorcism pendants" being sold there.
Within days, people began flooding to the studio to buy them in bulk.
In just three days, Barbara's stock of mysterious items was almost completely sold out. She had to urgently contact the processing factory to prepare a new batch.
By Barbara's calculations, the initial 200,000 yuan that Linen had invested had already multiplied more than tenfold — and this was only the beginning.
Of course, after watching the show, some people started believing that ghosts and spirits truly existed and began hailing Linen as "America's No. 1 Psychic."
Naturally, there were skeptics too. Some dismissed it as a trick — just clever visual effects by the production team. Others, especially die-hard atheists, stood before cameras declaring that Linen's "witchcraft" was nothing but magic tricks.
Linen, however, paid no attention to any of the online chatter.
At this moment, his focus was on the being standing before him — a half-succubus named Dilis.
"You mean," Linen asked, slightly taken aback, "a guy living on the moon, wielding a strange weapon, calling himself a 'Wall Guardian,' killed your parents?"
Dilis nodded earnestly. "Yes! At first, everything was normal. My mother — a succubus — and my father, the Lord of the Three-Headed Dogs of Hell, got together. That's not unusual in the Hell Dimension. Succubi are loyal only to their desires — anything they do is considered natural."
She paused before continuing. "But after I was born, my mother kept urging my father to expand his territory. Then, somehow, a rift appeared in the Hell Dimension — a crack that could even lead to the Human Dimension, the Earth!"
As she spoke, Dilis politely poured a cup of tea for Linen.
"My father, bewitched by my mother, prepared to lead his forces through the rift and invade Earth," she said. "But before they could arrive, they were stopped by the Wall Guardians — a couple who protected the dimensional barriers."
Her tone turned flat, almost detached. "Then my parents were killed by the couple's strange weapons, and their followers were hunted down to their very lair."
Dilis shrugged slightly. "I was still young then. The couple didn't kill me. They just patted my head and said, 'Poor little one.'"
"Oh, right," she added suddenly, "Master, the Wall Guardian's weapon looked very similar to your special submachine gun. And they had an absolute artifact — it could seal any dimensional rift with a single touch."
"After my parents were killed," she continued quietly, "I was ostracized in the Hell Dimension. Who told me I was neither a pure-blooded hellhound nor a full succubus?"
Linen nodded thoughtfully.
He remembered that the Book of the Dead mentioned how impure-blooded beings were often rejected by their own kind in the Hell Dimension.
What surprised him most was learning that Dilis's parents had died at the hands of Howard and Maria Stark — the so-called Wall Guardians.
And yet, Dilis didn't seem to harbor hatred toward them. In fact, she sounded almost… relieved.
"I'm grateful they killed my parents," she said softly. "They despised me — insulted and beat me constantly just because I wasn't a pureblood. They even planned to give me away to another hellhound when I came of age."
"By the way, Master," she looked up at Linen hopefully, "can I visit Earth? I've always wanted to see it. It's much more beautiful than the Hell Dimension."
"I promise I won't hurt anyone or cause any trouble."
Linen looked into her pleading eyes for a moment, then opened a drawer and took out a small wooden charm. He began carving runes into it carefully.
After a few minutes, he blew off the sawdust and handed it to her.
"When you're in danger," he said, "inject your magic into this charm. It'll open a portal and bring you back here."
Dilis accepted the charm gently, cradling it in both hands. Her big, watery eyes shimmered.
"Are you… worried about me?" she asked softly.
A mist of emotion welled up in her eyes. "This is the first time anyone's ever cared about me… I've never felt like this before."
Like a kitten, she rubbed her head against Linen's palm, a faint smile on her lips. Then her soul slowly faded, vanishing from sight.
Linen wasn't worried about her safety. After all, since Dilis appeared on Earth, the Ancient One and other mystic masters hadn't intervened — meaning there was likely no danger.
A half-succubus like her, whose only power was minor mind control and summoning hellhounds, wasn't a threat to the world.
With that thought, Linen turned back to his system interface and began editing his next video.
At the same time, outside the East Coast Studio—
"Look, Aunt May! I got the same exorcism pendant Mr. Linen used on TV!"
Little Peter Parker ran home excitedly, holding up the glowing pendant.
He grinned. "If you hang this on your door or in your room, you won't have to worry about ghosts or anything scary. You'll sleep great!"
Seeing Peter's happy face, Aunt May felt her heart warm.
The ten-year-old probably didn't even understand why he had insomnia… but who wouldn't feel affection for such a sweet, thoughtful child?
Smiling, Aunt May hugged him gently and took out her wallet. "I bet this pendant cost you all your pocket money, huh? Come on, Aunt May will make it up to you."
"No need, Aunt May!" Peter said quickly, shaking his head. His small face turned serious. "Sister Jessica gave it to me for free! When she heard I wanted it for you, she said I was a good boy and refused to take my money!"
