"What happened in there?"
Viktor's voice was tense as he navigated the SUV through Paris streets away from James's building, and he glanced at Marcus in the rearview mirror with concern.
Marcus sat in the back seat staring out the window, and his expression was hollow as he processed everything that had just occurred in that apartment.
"Marcus," Aria said gently from beside him. "Talk to us. What did James say?"
Marcus turned from the window and looked at his team, and defeat showed clearly in his expression before he forced it down and replaced it with cold determination.
"James was expecting me," Marcus said. "He knew I was coming, He knew about our investigation, about everything. The photograph was a bait. He wanted me to find him, wanted me distracted and in Paris."
"Why?" Dmitri asked from the front passenger seat.
