"They found Patricia's storage unit empty."
Dmitri's voice came through the phone at six AM.
"What do you mean by empty?" Marcus sat up, already reaching for his clothes.
"I mean, cleaned out. My team got there twenty minutes ago. The lock was intact, no signs of forced entry, but inside, there's nothing. Not a single file.
"David said the key was in his apartment." Marcus was already pulling on his jeans. "You're certain no one got there before you?"
"I checked his place; there were no signs of entry. The key was exactly where he said it would be."
"Then they have another key. Or they picked the lock so cleanly your team couldn't tell." Marcus moved to wake Aria. "We're coming to you. Don't leave the storage facility. I want to see it myself."
Forty minutes later, they stood inside storage unit 247. Just as Dmitri had described, it was empty. Not even dust on the shelves to suggest anything had ever been stored there.
