Chapter 81: The Condensed Supreme Spark
While Starscream and his crew explored the Arctic region, tens of millions of light years away on Cybertron, intense operations were underway.
After his last contact with Starscream, Megatron had begun preparations for his interstellar voyage. Upon learning that Starscream's planet contained a vast number of carbon-based lifeforms, a sinister plan took shape in his mind.
"Great Master, according to your command, we have carefully selected a group of Supreme Sparks. We will condense them into a metallic cube. Once we arrive on that planet, as long as you find a suitable place to release them, we can drastically transform the lifeforms there turning it into a new Cybertronian colony! According to the data Starscream previously transmitted, that planet should contain an enormous amount of bioenergy we can harvest the most reliable support for Cybertron's revival. And those tiny transformed beings will become our most loyal slaves. Let us look forward to that glorious day!"
Cautiously approaching the towering Megatron, Soundwave presented a holographic projection.
It was a cube made of an unknown metal, containing over a million Transformer Sparks. Megatron planned to take it to Starscream's planet to completely transform it inside and out.
"Ha! That fool Starscream probably has no idea that I, his master, am about to pay him a visit, does he? Show me where that wretch and those curious Autobots are. Are they together? I haven't seen something this interesting in ages. Only on a planet like this where information is scarce can I witness Decepticons and five Autobots side by side!"
Starscream would never have imagined that after their last conversation, Megatron had already pinpointed his location using a super-satellite built with sonic waves. Unless Starscream could dig underground to block the signal, Megatron could find him anytime, anywhere.
"My esteemed master, Starscream seems to have been with those Autobots these past two days, and it appears they're exploring the northernmost region of that planet. Although we can't monitor Starscream's voice control system, judging by his current behavior, I believe they're searching for something perhaps a relic of our Decepticon ancestors or a major energy source. Either way, I find it suspicious. Should we contact him?"
It seemed Starscream's Arctic expedition hadn't escaped Decepticon surveillance. Megatron's personality, after all, was unpredictable. Was he planning to suddenly appear before Starscream and give him a "surprise"?
"Do not contact Starscream yet. That one just like the giant dinosaur Salas and the titan Scorponok is an extremely ambitious Decepticon! The greatest riches in the universe belong in my hands, Megatron's hands. Let Mr. Starscream play the role of our scout. When I arrive myself, I'll confiscate all the treasures he finds!"
As the saying goes: "The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind." And Megatron fancied himself the oriole.
"I understand. Our AllSpark only needs a stability test before it's ready to be equipped for you. I've found suitable candidates for the strike team you requested earlier. Once you depart, I'll have them follow you covertly and infiltrate the galaxy. When they land on that conquered planet will depend entirely on your final command."
It was clear Megatron already viewed that planet, now named Hunger, as his own backyard. As the proverb says: "A gentleman is innocent, but possession of treasure invites guilt."
If not for the planet's immense stores of energy and minerals, the Decepticon leader might not have shown such interest.
Yet Megatron could not imagine that the world he now considered his prey was far from ordinary. Once one entered it… leaving would not be so easy.
Of course, given Megatron's nature, he wouldn't care about the dangers ahead. Once he set his sights on something, nothing in the universe could escape his grasp.
"Excellent, Soundwave! For your loyalty, you shall become a general of my first team. You will witness firsthand how that carbon-based world transforms ha ha ha!"
While Megatron focused his gaze on that distant planet, Optimus Prime and the others, adrift in deep space, had begun their own plans.
"Ratchet, Ironhide, are you sure we've shaken off our pursuers? Even though those cursed Decepticons haven't appeared on our radar for three months, that doesn't mean they aren't lurking somewhere!"
Recently, Optimus Prime's crew had mostly split up, yet thanks to radio communications, there was one positive sign the majority of the elite Autobot warriors had successfully escaped Decepticon pursuit and were now searching for temporary settlements on various planets, perfectly aligning with their strategic landing plan.
"Commander Optimus Prime, our hardest period is behind us. Now we need to find a planet with development potential something like Cybertron. Ideally, a place where Autobots can build a temporary base. However, most of the regions in our star map have already been occupied by the Decepticons. I believe our only chance lies in exploring more remote star systems!"
As Optimus Prime's second-in-command, Ironhide thought much like him. Yet they all understood the perils of such deep-space exploration. After all, the Decepticons dominated much of the universe and would be the first to discover any system suitable for Transformer expansion.
The Autobots would not only have to contend with their enemies but also with destiny itself.
