Chapter 78: The Remnants of the Fallen's Will
"Foolish humans! So you finally show your strength? If you don't want to be destroyed, hand over that thing...and perhaps I'll let you go home alive!"
After breaking through the blockade of dozens of newborn Decepticons, Starscream transformed into his robotic form and landed before the Hunnic King and his men. He fell right on top of a robotic dog's head...the immense impact shattered its skull, and its glass-like eyes flew out, rolling across the ground...
This Transformer, which lacked even the most basic armor, could probably be pierced by the weapons of any mere mortal!
Facing such a towering being, even the bravest Hunnic warriors trembled in fear. To them, this giant was practically a god...and only another god could defeat one. Mortal men were utterly powerless.
"You… I've seen your likeness before. Aren't you supposed to be someone sent by the great god Chi You? Why are you siding with the now? Tell me...if you need tribute, I can fulfill any request. All the cattle and sheep of this steppe, gold, women...whatever you desire, I can give it to you!"
But everything the Hunnic king spoke of was worthless to the Red Spider. The so-called gold was basically high-purity brass, and even if some real gold existed, it was riddled with impurities...useless to him.
As for livestock and other organic creatures, Starscream couldn't absorb them directly, so they held no appeal. And the so-called slave women? What kind of operation was that? How could these humans treat their own kind as commodities? Such behavior was beneath contempt...foolish and barbaric!
"Listen...why I joined the Autobots is none of your concern, and I don't owe you any explanation! Of all your possessions, I only want that. Eclipse d it over, and I'll let you live. I, Starscream, keep my word!"
Pointing at the golden figure before him...barely reaching his thigh...Starscream went straight to the point. While he negotiated with the Huns, Flying Dart finished his meal and transformed into a massive robot, landing heavily on the ground. His fierce visage terrified the proud Hunnic horses, forcing them to their knees despite their master's shouts...perhaps an instinctive submission born of lineage.
"Chanyu, we cannot give it to him! This is the last miracle our master bestowed upon us...we swore to protect it with our lives!"
Sensing Starscream's ambition, the black-robed sorcerer impulsively led a group of his followers forward, attempting to pressure the Hunnic king into resisting.
However, his recklessness brought no benefit...only destruction. Starscream raised his laser blaster and fired a single shot at the group, vaporizing them instantly.
"Humans, this isn't a negotiation...consider it an order! Based on my scans, you must be the leader of these Huns, right? If I turn you to dust today, what fate do you think awaits your descendants and everything you own?"
With one less loudmouth to deal with, Red Spider could finally get what he wanted. Though the Hunnic king hesitated, to save himself and his brothers, he waved his hand in reluctant surrender. The soldiers guarding the golden statue in the distance, following their leader's command, began slowly pushing the incredibly heavy figure forward.
Well done, Red Spider! I bet there's some kind of remote control inside. Maybe it'll reveal where that Fallen is hiding!
As the golden statue drew closer, the mechanical dinosaur eagerly activated a scanner on his arm. A green light enveloped the moving statue...a substance similar to gamma rays, the same kind the dinosaurs used to probe alien devices.
But as the beam struck the statue, something strange occurred. The once-motionless golden figure began to tremble, and swirling green beams appeared in its hollow eyes...apparently formed by the very gamma rays it had absorbed.
Beep beep beep!
Beep beep beep!
"Heh… an Autobot? I recognize you, little one...you're one of the Dinobots, aren't you? And who's that beside you? Looks unfamiliar… but why do I sense the power of a Decepticon's descendant within you? How intriguing!"
A green holographic image...seven or eight meters tall...emerged from the statue's eyes, condensing into the air.
If you know Cybertron's ancient legends, you might not recognize this green phantom...but this creature was none other than The Fallen. Apparently, this device not only transformed ordinary carbon-based lifeforms into Transformers, but was also intimately connected to this prehistoric demon.
"You… you are…?"
Though Starscream had never seen The Fallen in person, the tone and presence of this being crushed him with unimaginable pressure. The resonance between their sparks confirmed it...he, too, carried traces of Decepticon lineage.
"That's right," the mechanical pterosaur growled. "This thing is the legendary Fallen. I once thought our captain sealed him away long ago...but to think he preserved even a fragment of his consciousness within this device… what a cunning monster."
The pterosaur raised its laser cannon, intent on obliterating both the hologram and the golden statue behind it.
Yet, The Fallen didn't flinch. Instead, a sly grin spread across his spectral face.
"Don't you want to know where the Steel Cable is?"
