In the pitch-black Void, a pillar of silver-white light suddenly pierced through the darkness. The violent space storms and the tearing power of the Void all around could not shake it in the slightest.
Within the light column stood Hei Qing, his muscular arms crossed as he turned his head toward Liu Xi beside him. "Brother, ahead lies the Void Lightning Pool. That place is extremely dangerous—an unusual spatial zone where the thunder energy of heaven and earth gathers into a lake. Even with my Magical Beast body, I can't stay there for long."
Liu Xi stood calmly beside him, hands behind his back, feet upon the Void. His eyes gleamed with anticipation as he smiled. "Naturally, I'm not going there to cultivate within the lightning. I've created something special—something that can grow stronger through thunder. You'll see soon enough."
Hearing that, Hei Qing stopped trying to dissuade him. Since Liu Xi had already gained Zhu Li's acknowledgment, if something happened to him now, not only would the future Dragon Emperor be furious, even Zhu Li might bury him alive.
The Void Lightning Pool wasn't far from East Dragon Island. Before long, a silvery glow flickered in the distance, accompanied by surging waves of violent energy.
"We're here," Liu Xi murmured, his smile widening with excitement. As they drew closer, countless serpents of silver lightning flashed through the darkness, and the deafening roar of thunder shook the world.
Moments later, standing beside Hei Qing, Liu Xi looked out over a vast lake nearly a thousand feet wide—filled entirely with lightning and crackling thunderbolts.
Hei Qing's gaze hardened as a flicker of dread passed through his eyes. "Brother, what exactly do you plan to do?"
"I'll need to get a little closer," Liu Xi said with a faint smile. "I want to use this lightning to strengthen my puppets. If things get dangerous, I'll have to trouble you for some help."
As he spoke, a pair of massive, bone-white wings unfolded from his back. The moment they spread, faint sounds of wind and thunder echoed through the Void.
"No problem…" Hei Qing replied, but his eyes gleamed with surprise as he sensed the aura of the wings. A mischievous grin curved across his face. "Well, I'll be damned. Didn't expect you to have a Heaven Demon Phoenix's wings. Aren't those feathered bastards supposed to treat their dead like sacred relics?"
Liu Xi glanced back at the bone wings and chuckled. "Years ago, I stumbled upon a Heaven Demon Phoenix's corpse. Its wings were pure white and imbued with both wind and fire. I happened to have a flying Dou Technique suited for refinement—so I forged them into these. They're quite fast. Shame that the Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe keeps a tight watch in the Central Plains. I haven't used them in a long while."
Hei Qing let out a hearty, mischievous laugh. "Heh, don't hold back on my account. If anyone gives you trouble out there, I'll cover for you. Nothing I enjoy more than watching those proud birds choke on their own fury!"
"Oh, I'll remember that," Liu Xi said, smiling faintly.
As soon as the words fell, his wings flared open. With a single beat, his body shot forward like a flash of lightning, soaring straight toward the edge of the pool.
The lotus mark between his brows glowed faintly as a deep cyan flame surged around him, forming a barrier that protected him from the raging lightning.
Upon reaching the edge, he could feel the storm of lightning surging violently around him. Without the Heavenly Flame's protection, a few strikes alone would have been enough to cripple him.
Maintaining a careful distance, Liu Xi waved his hand. Two streaks of light—one gold and one silver—shot from his palm, diving into the densest area of the lightning pool.
The instant the two puppets appeared, the surrounding thunderbolts shifted direction. Even the stray lightning that had been striking toward Liu Xi vanished, drawn completely toward the two constructs.
Within the pool, thunder raged. Massive bolts, ten or even dozens of meters thick, crashed wildly, roaring with explosive force. Yet each bolt that struck the puppets vanished instantly, absorbed like water into a sponge.
The two puppets stood motionless within the storm, unflinching under the endless lightning strikes. Their auras began to climb steadily, growing stronger by the moment.
The Earth Demon Puppet, Ah Da, seemed to be accumulating power—waiting for the moment when quantity transformed into quality, to break through and become a Heaven Demon Puppet.
Meanwhile, the Heaven Demon Puppet forged from Tian Shuangzi's body glowed with expanding golden light. Its aura grew more terrifying by the minute—slowly but relentlessly evolving.
At the pool's edge, Liu Xi hovered in midair. His mortal body couldn't withstand such thunder for long; a few stray bolts could still cause him serious harm. He extended his palm, feeling the raw, violent lightning energy around him.
"So dense… it'd be a waste not to use it for cultivation," he murmured.
With that, he crossed his legs midair. His bone wings spread wide, flames encircled him, and his hands formed the seals of cultivation.
A powerful suction erupted from his body, pulling the wild lightning energy toward him. As it passed through the Green Lotus Core Flame—now carrying the traits of the Falling Heart Flame—it was instantly purified, stripped of its destructive fury.
Even so, the energy that entered his body made his entire being tingle and buzz, leaving his limbs numb. Still, it no longer posed a real threat to him.
Time slipped away unnoticed. Over a month later, Liu Xi slowly opened his eyes, awakening from meditation.
Hei Qing had mentioned before that Xiao Yixian and Yao Tianhuo emerged from seclusion once every year. It was about that time again.
'Looks like it's time to head back,' Liu Xi thought, feeling the Dou Qi surging through his veins. He had advanced from mid 7-Star Dou Zong to high 7-Star, though still short of the peak.
"This really is a great place to cultivate," he mused, glancing at the vast pool. "Too bad it's so dangerous… Hmm, I wonder how my Heaven Demon Puppets are doing."
When he looked toward the heart of the lightning lake, the once-raging bolts had grown noticeably thinner. At its center, two dazzling golden figures stood proudly, exuding overwhelming might.
"Perfect… both have evolved into Heaven Demon Puppets." A satisfied smile spread across Liu Xi's face. "Two Dou Zun-level puppets—enough to rival even a top-tier faction like the Four Pavilion Alliance."
With a mere thought, the two towering puppets stirred. Splitting the storm of lightning, they shot toward him like twin meteors.
Behind them, an enormous silver serpent of lightning—dozens of meters long—roared as it chased after them like a thunder dragon.
Liu Xi's expression changed slightly. The puppets could withstand lightning, but he could not. Even if the strikes didn't kill him, they would cause serious injury.
In an instant, his body twisted midair. His bone wings flared, and the sound of wind and thunder exploded as he vanished in a blur of motion. Shadow after shadow flickered before fading away—his true body already far from danger.
Only when the furious roars of thunder receded and the lightning serpent returned unwillingly to the pool did Liu Xi halt, turning to watch his two puppets land beside him.
On the left stood Ah Da, once refined from the Earth Demon Old Ghost's corpse—now radiating the power of a 2-Star Dou Zun.
On the right was the Heaven Demon Puppet made from Tian Shuangzi's body, emanating an even greater presence—around 4 or 5-Star Dou Zun.
Liu Xi's grin widened. "Just these two alone could suppress an entire top-tier force."
His gaze returned to the glowing lake. "They still have potential to grow stronger… but the outer edge of the Void Lightning Pool may no longer be enough for their advancement."
