Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: The Ye Clan of Ye City

Only a day after leaving the Fallen God Ravine, a vast city of deep green came into sight. It stood on a broad plain, surrounded by a ring of lush forest that stretched as far as the eye could see.

This was Ye City—and its ruler, once a name of great renown in the Pill Domain, was the Ye Clan.

But now, the family that had once stood at the pinnacle of prestige had long since lost its former glory.

Anyone who inquired about the Ye Clan would learn that, though it remained one of the Five Great Families under the Pill Tower, its greatest alchemist was merely a 7th Tier Alchemist—and the only one they had.

A family famed for generations of pill refinement, yet with only a single 7th Tier Alchemist left… how pitiful.

Even so, one treasure still kept the Ye Clan's name alive—the Sun Fire Ancient Altar. Rumor had it that this ancient altar could birth a flame of pure yang, stronger than most beast flames. Many forces coveted it, desiring the altar for themselves.

And it was precisely for this Sun Fire Ancient Altar that Liu Xi had come.

But before he could act, careful planning was needed.

---

Passing through the dark city gate tunnel, a burst of noise and light met him. The streets were filled with bustling activity—mercenaries, traders, vendors—and proud alchemists in flowing robes marked with flame insignias.

Though the Ye Clan's influence had waned, their city still thrived as a haven for alchemists, more vibrant than even the Alchemist Association of the Jia Ma Empire.

"Yoing Master, what do we do now?" Xiao Yixian asked as her eyes swept across the crowd. "Should we visit the Ye Clan first—or make them come to us?"

Liu Xi's gaze gleamed as he looked around, his voice calm and amused. "Too crude. Your young master is a high-tier alchemist—how could I act so roughly? Leave it to me; I have a plan."

Beside him, Zi Yan tugged at his sleeve, her tone curious and playful.

"Big brother, tell us! What plan?"

Liu Xi chuckled, his eyes drifting toward the grand estate in the heart of the city. "To stun the city in one move, seize the initiative, and draw them in willingly," he said softly. "But for now, let's find a place to stay."

---

As they moved closer to the city center, several arrogant young nobles tried to approach. But one icy glance from Xiao Yixian was enough to make their legs tremble and their faces pale.

They soon arrived at an elegant inn and took three Heaven-Class suites.

On the top floor, before entering his room, Liu Xi turned to the two girls. "I'll be refining a pill," he said. "If all goes well, it'll stir quite the commotion in the city—and the Ye Clan will surely send someone to investigate. Until I come out, no one is to disturb me."

Xiao Yixian's voice was gentle yet firm. "Rest assured, Young Master. No one will get through."

Zi Yan puffed up her chest with a grin. "Leave it to me and Sister Xian'er, big brother! We'll guard the door!"

Liu Xi smiled. "I know you will."

He stepped inside, closing the door behind him.

---

To make his mark in Ye City, the best way was simple—refine a high-tier pill. And he happened to need one himself: the Zong Breaking Pill.

Drawing the curtains, Liu Xi sat cross-legged on the bed. A flicker of light flashed from his storage ring, and a massive crimson cauldron—the Ten Thousand Beast Cauldron—appeared before him with a heavy thud.

Several jade boxes floated into the air, suspended neatly beside him under a sheath of Dou Qi.

He extended a finger. A strand of azure flame burst to life and shot into the cauldron. In an instant, roaring fire filled the chamber, raising the temperature sharply.

The brilliant blaze reflected in his eyes. "Let's begin," he whispered.

One by one, medicinal herbs radiating faint fragrance entered the cauldron. The Green Lotus Core Flame wrapped around them, refining them into streams of luminous medicinal essence.

---

Three days passed.

All ingredients had been refined, and the final condensation step was at hand.

Calm and focused, Liu Xi formed a series of hand seals.

"Condense!" he commanded.

Boom!

The essences collided violently within the cauldron, sending shockwaves of energy that rattled its heavy frame.

Unshaken, Liu Xi released torrents of Spiritual Power from between his brows, stabilizing the swirling liquids.

After another full day, the cauldron quieted. Within it spun a rough, pitted sphere—the pill embryo.

Liu Xi smiled faintly. "Heh… the embryo is formed. Now we wait for it to take shape."

He closed his eyes, gathering his focus, waiting for the Zong Breaking Pill to be born.

---

Then—

Boom!

A surge of power exploded from his room. A pillar of blinding light pierced the roof, soaring into the sky.

Above Ye City, the heavens darkened as the winds roared. Clouds rolled and churned, gathering the world's energy in a vast vortex over the inn.

The morning sun dimmed behind the storm's shadow.

Within moments, half the city erupted in commotion. Ye City was, after all, a holy land for alchemists; even ordinary folk knew what such a vision meant.

This was the birth of a 6th Tier Pill—and judging by the scale of the phenomenon, not a common one.

---

Deep within the Ye Clan manor—

In an antique study filled with the scent of parchment, an elder in azure robes sat behind a desk, reading a scroll titled Reflections of a High 7th Tier Alchemist.

Suddenly, he raised his head, eyes flashing with intrigue.

"The heaven and earth energy has gathered to such an extent… if it grows stronger, it might even summon Pill Lightning." A faint smile crossed his face. "Heh… perhaps the Ye Clan is about to gain another 7th Tier Alchemist. Someone, come!"

A voice answered respectfully from outside. "First Elder, Ye Tao requests an audience!"

The old man set his scroll aside and chuckled. "Perfect timing. Second Elder, tell me—which of our juniors is refining a pill strong enough to stir the heavens? I must take them as my personal disciple."

The door opened with a soft creak, and a yellow-robed elder stepped inside, bowing with a bitter smile. "First Elder, it isn't one of ours. Someone in the city is refining the pill. I came to ask how we should handle it."

The First Elder fell silent for a moment, then sighed. "Whoever it is, his skill rivals yours—perhaps even close to the 7th Tier. Go and investigate. If his background is clean, invite him to join the Ye Clan as an honorary elder. He may study our advanced alchemy techniques according to his merit."

His eyes hardened slightly. "But if his intentions are malicious, drive him from Ye City. The Ye Clan may be in decline, but we are not to be trifled with."

"Yes, First Elder."

The yellow-robed man bowed and turned to leave—

"Wait," said the First Elder suddenly, a glint flashing in his gaze. "No… I'll go myself."

Ripples of energy shimmered around him, and his figure slowly faded from sight.
