High above the Yunlan Sect, a terrifying aura spread like a tidal wave. The Snake-People Queen—Queen Medusa, a peak Dou Huang powerhouse—had arrived. Her overwhelming presence alone was enough to make even the three great empires surrounding the Jia Ma Empire tremble.
And now, that same aura pressed down upon the Yunlan Sect. Shockingly, it was no weaker than Yun Yun's current might—despite Yun Yun borrowing the combined power of the sect's Cloud Mist Sun-Shrouding Formation to temporarily reach the peak of the Dou Huang realm.
Beneath her flowing purple robe, a slender violet snake tail swayed lazily, brushing against the air with a sensual rhythm. Every flick of her tail exuded an untamed allure—wild, dangerous, and mesmerizing. Her breathtakingly beautiful face was the epitome of seduction, yet her expression remained indifferent, as though the great battle before her was beneath her notice.
Though her temperament was vastly different from Yun Yun's calm grace, her beauty was equally transcendent—another form of divine perfection.
Queen Medusa's narrow, amethyst eyes glanced toward Xiao Yan. A flash of killing intent flickered within them—alongside a faint trace of wariness—before her gaze grew languid again, her lips parting to release a voice like intoxicating perfume.
"This queen only promised to spare your life," she said lazily. "I never agreed to join your foolish little games. We're leaving—now."
Her voice was charming and melodious, but utterly devoid of respect for Yun Yun, whose face had already turned cold as ice below the cloud sea.
Yet Xiao Yan merely shook his head, his bloodshot eyes turning toward Yun Yun and the white-robed elders behind her. He licked his lips, his tone eerily calm.
"Not yet. Until I've vented the anger festering in my heart, I'm not leaving. And if you refuse to protect me, Your Majesty... I'll detonate that Heavenly Flame. You won't get it either."
Queen Medusa's eyes narrowed. "Heh... Human, this is the second time you've dared to threaten this queen. Do you truly think I won't kill you?"
Were it not for Yao Chen's lingering soul, she would have done so long ago. Now, her fury simmered dangerously beneath that exquisite exterior.
'Teacher said working with her was like making a pact with a tiger,' Xiao Yan thought coldly, gripping the Heavy Xuan Ruler. 'But I refuse to back down. Even if it means courting death, I won't retreat.'
His voice was low, calm to the point of chilling indifference. "I'm not threatening you, Your Majesty—just telling you what's in my heart. Consider it carefully."
Queen Medusa's gaze darkened, her killing intent surging once again. Yet before her eyes burned a rare opportunity—to surpass her current limits and achieve true evolution.
---
"Queen Medusa," Yun Yun's tone was calm but cold. "Xiao Yan cannot be taken from this place. If you turn away now, I'll overlook this intrusion. But if you persist... then you will remain here—forever."
Hearing the two speak so brazenly, even Yun Yun's gentle nature could not suppress her anger. To invade her sect, humiliate its disciples, and speak as if the Yunlan Sect were theirs to trample—such arrogance could not be forgiven.
Across the square, the sect's disciples were equally enraged.
"Damn that Xiao Yan! Colluding with Queen Medusa—this must be a planned attack!"
"Non-human, non-loyal heart! No wonder he's so powerful at such a young age—he must've betrayed humanity for the Snake-People! A human traitor!"
"Right! A traitor!"
Their shouts echoed through the plaza, filling the air with fury.
---
Liu Xi, standing among the guests, frowned deeply as he gazed at the elegant yet lethal figure in the sky.
'So he actually called her here... If Xiao Yan escapes now, my entire plan collapses.'
"Sir," Nalan Jie whispered beside him, his voice trembling, "Queen Medusa is an enemy of our empire... what do we do?"
Before Liu Xi could answer, a sharp, silken voice cut across the air.
"You!"
Liu Xi blinked, then chuckled helplessly. "Four years apart, and Her Majesty still remembers me? I'm truly honored."
Of course, Queen Medusa remembered him. How could she forget the human Dou Wang who had once dared to raid her Snake-People territory—and who carried a Heavenly Flame? Her lips curved into a dangerous smile.
"Remember you? Oh, I've been thinking about you for four years, human."
With a flick of her tail, she turned from Xiao Yan. Under countless stunned gazes, her body blurred into a streak of purple light and lunged straight toward Liu Xi.
Compared to Xiao Yan, who was protected by Yao Chen's soul, Liu Xi seemed a far easier target. To seize his Heavenly Flame by force would be the simplest path to her evolution.
The pressure of a peak Dou Huang descended like a storm, suffocating the air around him. Liu Xi's expression hardened.
"So that's how it is," he muttered. "You think I'm the soft target here?"
His aura erupted, clashing violently with hers. Though only a 1-Star Dou Huang, his refined Dou Qi and mastery of flame techniques made him far from easy prey.
With a flap of Dou Qi wings, he rose into the sky. Flames burst to life around him—a brilliant azure blaze surging upward like volcanic eruption.
A column of pure fire roared toward Queen Medusa.
Her brows knit slightly; she hadn't expected Liu Xi to have reached the Dou Huang realm. She halted mid-flight, pressing a slender palm downward.
A multicolored radiance flared beneath her, condensing into a massive seven-colored serpent. Its jaws yawned wide like a bottomless void, devouring the oncoming flame pillar whole.
But the Heavenly Flame was not something ordinary energy could contain. Within moments, the serpent's body convulsed violently—and then exploded in a dazzling burst of color, scattering like a thousand fiery petals.
Liu Xi smirked coldly. "Not so easy to swallow, is it?"
With a flick of his wrist, a long sword of condensed azure flame appeared in his grasp.
"Then let's play, Your Majesty."
He lunged forward, flames trailing like streaks of blue lightning.
Queen Medusa hissed softly, her serpent tail whipping through the air as the two clashed at blinding speed. Only two faint shadows were visible—colliding, separating, and vanishing into the distant sky.
Below, Xiao Yan's jaw tightened. His supposed ally—the very trump card he had called—was now chasing down Liu Xi instead.
'This... might have gotten out of hand,' he thought grimly.
Meanwhile, the Yunlan Sect disciples and elders watched the two streaks vanish into the clouds, their expressions tense. Yun Yun's gaze darkened even further.
To her, Liu Xi's involvement in this chaos was unforgivable—an innocent ally dragged into Xiao Yan's madness.
---
"Blazing Heaven Sword!"
Liu Xi roared, his sword slashing down. A wave of azure flame surged forth, distorting the very air as it streaked toward Queen Medusa.
She twisted midair with serpentine grace, her tail flicking as she dodged effortlessly. Rising higher, her long purple hair fluttered in the heated wind, her narrowed eyes gleaming with disdain.
"Done running already?" she taunted, voice silky-smooth. "Or have you accepted your death?"
Liu Xi exhaled slowly. His Dou Qi reserves were running thin; compared to her, his foundation was shallower. Yet his tone remained calm, even faintly amused.
"You know who I am," he said. "And yet you still insist on killing me?"
"I've heard of you," she replied coolly. "A 6th Tier Alchemist, yes? But since you won't refine pills for me, there's no reason to spare you."
She smiled cruelly, expecting him to beg for mercy.
But Liu Xi only sighed and gazed at her—at that intoxicating, deadly beauty—and murmured, "A pity."
Her smile froze, suspicion flashing across her eyes.
Liu Xi's aura suddenly changed. The azure flames vanished—replaced by invisible heat waves rippling through the air. A fire without color, without form.
The Fallen Heart Flame surged to life. His power skyrocketed, surpassing even Queen Medusa's.
Her expression shifted from arrogance to shock.
"You—!"
"Go to hell."
Wrapped in that unseen inferno, Liu Xi's body blurred forward, charging like a blazing meteor straight toward the queen.
The sky erupted with searing light as the two forces collided.
