Doctor Octopus stumbled backward.
Marcus's strength shocked him.
He'd fought Peter before and knew Peter wasn't weak. But Marcus's power was on another level entirely.
Seeing Marcus's calm expression, Doctor Octopus grew frustrated.
Peter was already unplugging the power cable.
"Get out of my way!"
Doctor Octopus roared and tried to rush past.
But Marcus was there. He wouldn't let Otto through.
"Let me wake you up!"
Marcus closed in and threw punch after punch.
Doctor Octopus tried blocking with his mechanical arms, but soon he noticed dents forming in the metal—one after another.
"Doctor Octopus, your evil plan ends now!"
Marcus wasn't an amateur like Peter with average fighting skills.
After feinting with false movements to confuse Otto, Marcus stepped forward and landed a punch directly to Otto's stomach.
"GAH!"
Doctor Octopus felt his stomach cramp violently.
He vomited bile.
Marcus's expression remained calm. He'd only made Otto suffer a little.
If he hadn't pulled back his strength, punching through Otto's stomach wouldn't have been difficult.
But Marcus didn't want to kill him. So he stopped.
On the other side, just as Peter unplugged the power, he saw Marcus had already beaten Doctor Octopus to the ground.
Peter was stunned. Was Doctor Octopus really this weak?
Peter had struggled against Otto multiple times. He'd considered Otto a formidable enemy.
Seeing Marcus defeat him so quickly felt strange.
Maybe Doctor Octopus isn't as strong as I thought.
Peter shook his head and refocused. This wasn't the time to think about that.
The power was off.
But the artificial sun was still active!
After such a short reaction period, the artificial sun had basically stabilized.
If they couldn't extinguish it, there would be serious trouble.
Without the energy supply, the artificial sun's gravitational force grew even stronger, and more out-of-control energy arcs appeared.
"What do we do now?"
After thinking for a while, Peter still couldn't figure out how to extinguish the artificial sun.
All the metal objects in the area were being pulled by gravity. The whole warehouse was falling apart.
Even cars hundreds of meters away were moving in this direction.
Fortunately, the magnetic force didn't currently affect people, or some unlucky bystanders would've been pulled in too.
The commotion had attracted attention. Many people were calling the police.
After looking around, Peter finally focused on Doctor Octopus.
He approached and bowed his head. "Dr. Otto. We need to shut it down. Tell me how."
Doctor Octopus gave a dismissive smile and sneered at Peter.
"Don't even think about it. This is my experiment. I won't shut it down!"
As he spoke, Dr. Otto controlled his mechanical tentacles and suddenly grabbed Peter's neck.
This time, Peter didn't break free.
Seeing this, Marcus immediately stepped up and punched Dr. Otto twice.
WHAM. WHAM.
"AGH!"
The heavy blows made Dr. Otto groan in pain.
The mechanical hand holding Peter released him.
"Are you calm now?"
Dr. Otto stared at Marcus with wide eyes.
The severe pain cleared his mind completely. There was no sign of being controlled by the mechanical arms at all.
"Hey, we can't use violence!" Peter quickly stepped forward and pulled Marcus away. "Let me talk him down!"
Marcus shrugged and spread his hands as if to say be my guest.
Peter approached Dr. Otto, hesitated for a moment, then voluntarily removed his mask to reveal his true face.
"Dr. Otto."
"Peter Parker. Brilliant but lazy."
Seeing Peter's true face, Dr. Otto was also surprised.
He hadn't expected Spider-Man to be his student.
Peter looked at Doctor Octopus sincerely.
"Dr. Otto, we have to shut it down."
"You told me intelligence was a gift. You said it should be used for the good of mankind."
"These robotic arms have turned you into something you're not. Don't listen to them."
Dr. Otto was taken aback. He looked left and right at his mechanical arms.
"This is my dream."
Peter shook his head.
"Sometimes we have to give up the thing we want most—even our dreams—to do what's right."
Marcus watched from the side as Peter entered his talk-no-jutsu mode, persuading Doctor Octopus.
After a period of internal struggle, Dr. Otto actually became lucid.
Doctor Octopus succeeded in suppressing the mechanical arms' control through his own willpower.
Seeing that Dr. Otto was swayed, Peter quickly asked for a solution.
Doctor Octopus thought for a moment, then provided one: use the river water to extinguish the artificial sun.
After getting the answer, Peter turned to throw the fireball into the river.
But Dr. Otto held Peter back. He would do it himself.
Throwing the artificial sun into the river was life-threatening.
And Dr. Otto didn't want to live anymore.
His experiment had failed. He'd been controlled by his own robotic arms and done terrible things.
So Dr. Otto prepared to take his own life.
Peter saw Otto's suicidal intent but couldn't think of what to do.
After glancing at Marcus and Peter, Doctor Octopus approached the reactor base and used his mechanical arms to destroy the support columns.
Then he took the artificial sun and prepared to fall into the river.
At the critical moment, Marcus shot a web strand at Dr. Otto.
He knew how to solve the out-of-control artificial sun. He'd let Dr. Otto proceed to see if Otto was worth saving.
Looking at it now, Dr. Otto was worth saving.
Marcus pulled hard, yanking Doctor Octopus out of the water.
As for the out-of-control artificial sun, Marcus directly used his telekinesis to push it into the river.
Finding himself saved, Doctor Octopus looked confused and stared at Marcus.
"Spider-Man, why did you save me?"
Marcus replied: "Dr. Otto, don't be in such a hurry to die. Your wife Rose is still alive."
Otto froze, disbelief on his face.
"What are you talking about? Rose was killed by glass the day the experiment failed!"
Marcus shook his head.
"No. She was just seriously injured and fell into a coma. After you escaped from the hospital that day, you didn't know Rose was being treated."
"You haven't checked on Rose's condition these past days. In fact, Ms. Rose has been hospitalized. Recently, she was discharged."
Hearing Marcus's words, Dr. Octopus went into a daze. He couldn't believe what Marcus was saying.
