Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Greedy Mask

Toyoma now understood all the steps he could take during this time of war for his faction, and how to take advantage of the situation.

He looked at Grandpa Setsuna with a calm gaze, as if saying I know what we should do.

"Grandpa, now I want our faction to appear much more materialistic on the surface. Make people inside the clan and outside the clan think that we don't care about the village anymore, or even about the Hokage position. We will make it seem like we are fighting only for resources and wealth. We will show outsiders that we are greedy people—nothing more."

Setsuna heard this and paused for a moment. He thought he had misheard something. But looking at Toyoma's expression, he knew there was definitely another meaning behind his words.

"Son, I don't understand the meaning behind this," Setsuna said. "Can you explain it to me?"

Toyoma smiled slightly and replied, "Grandpa, in the future I have seen one interesting thing—something I found hard to believe at first, but it turned out to be true. It made my main goal clear and helped me form a plan where we can change Uchiha history without letting the entire ninja world know about us, while secretly building our strength."

Hearing that Toyoma already had a clear plan for the Uchiha, Setsuna felt a trace of excitement. "Is it possible to tell me?" he asked. He didn't want to know too much about the future, but this much, he needed to hear.

Toyoma nodded.

Seeing Setsuna's excitement, he didn't want to disappoint him.

"Yes. This is our initial goal, and everything depends on it, so I will definitely tell you. But Grandpa, I also want some of our jōnin to know about this plan, because I will need their strength. Is there any way to make sure they cannot tell others—even if they want to—similar to Danzo's tongue curse jutsu, which he uses to keep his secrets hidden?"

Setsuna thought for a moment after hearing this. Then he looked at Toyoma and said,

"There is one jutsu in Uchiha history that we used during secret missions. I can look into it for you."

Hearing this, Toyoma relaxed slightly.

"Grandpa, in the future I saw some people who were different from us. They didn't have chakra, yet some of them had strength enough to fight against jōnin. Many of them were close to chūnin level. I found this difficult to understand at first. Later, I discovered that they were not from the ninja world."

"Ninja world?" Setsuna repeated, trying to think of a logical explanation. "Are they from the summoning lands? That would still be difficult to believe."

"No," Toyoma replied. "They were from a land called the Temujin Empire. From the word Empire, we can understand that it is similar to the Land of Fire—perhaps even larger—located across the sea."

Toyoma continued, "Do you understand, Grandpa? What we call the ninja world is nothing more than a large landmass—a continent. Across the sea, there exists another land, rich with resources, where we can live freely."

When Setsuna heard this, his excitement grew uncontrollably. At first, he thought their only option would be to leave the village secretly and hide somewhere within the ninja world. But now, there was a possibility of living openly, far away from it all.

He looked at Toyoma and asked, "Son, but even if we build a ship, crossing the sea is extremely difficult. Even for jōnin. Many people in history have tried, but none succeeded. How would we do it?"

Setsuna remembered many stories describing the endless sea, stories where no one ever returned. Yet Toyoma spoke with certainty about a land beyond the ninja continent.

Toyoma did not answer immediately. Instead, he formed a few hand seals. From a storage scroll, a design appeared. If anyone from his previous life saw it, they would immediately recognize it as a ship.

"Grandpa, look at this," Toyoma said. "They came here using a ship like this, and we can build one as well. It is large enough to carry around a hundred to a hundred and fifty people. But to build it, we need resources—and secrecy."

Setsuna studied the design carefully. It looked like a massive vessel, capable of carrying many people across the sea.

Toyoma continued, "Grandpa, we have twelve to thirteen years before the complete extermination of our clan. What we must do now is gather as many resources as possible—but in the form of gold. I urgently need it to strengthen our faction."

After a brief pause, Toyoma added, "My Sharingan has an ability that I cannot disclose right now. But it requires gold as a medium to function. Resources are necessary at this stage. That is why my initial plan is simple."

He looked at Setsuna with unwavering determination.

"We will bleed Konoha's wealth as much as possible—and take back every investment we make, with interest."

Toyoma spoke with a look that clearly said he intended to take back everything the Uchiha had paid to Konoha.

"Well, Grandpa, the first step will be selling all war resources to Konoha at a high price. Don't give any discounts. Don't bear any losses. Make as much profit as possible. And if the village or other factions put pressure on us, give them only one-tenth of the war resources at a discount. If the pressure becomes too much, say that the ninja cat clan and our faction don't have enough money, and that it's difficult to acquire raw materials."

In the First and Second Ninja Wars, the Uchiha cat clan had supplied more than thirty to forty percent of the war resources—often at a loss. Konoha had grown used to receiving those supplies without resistance.

Now, Toyoma's faction had only one primary goal: profit as much as possible.

Setsuna listened carefully. He realized this was indeed a good opportunity to accumulate wealth. He knew that if they acted this way, other factions would definitely pressure the Uchiha clan, and many people would start looking at them with disdain.

But now, everything was clear to him.

If Konoha was eventually destroyed, or if the Uchiha gained a bad image—what did that have to do with them anymore?

After a moment of thought, Setsuna nodded.

"Alright. I will inform all our people and the jōnin."

Toyoma then added, "Grandpa, also, if there is any way to acquire gold, please tell me. And if there is any gold in our reserves, give it to me."

Gold was literally essential for Toyoma.

He had reincarnated into this world twelve years ago, but his true turning point came much earlier. When he was five years old, his parents died during a mission. Unable to control himself in his grief, he awakened a two-tomoe Sharingan that night.

It was also on that same night that the memories of his previous life fully returned.

He remembered everything—this world, its history, and the future fate of the Uchiha.

One fortunate thing was that his parents had been members of the Hawk faction, and Toyoma's grandfather was a close friend of Setsuna. Because of this connection, and because awakening a two-tomoe Sharingan at such a young age marked him as a rare genius, Setsuna agreed to Toyoma's request to keep his awakening a secret until he turned ten.

That decision helped him greatly.

Toyoma had reincarnated with a hidden benefit—one he discovered when he was seven years old. During a mission outside the village with other clan members, they encountered bandits. Among their possessions, Toyoma found gold.

The moment he touched it, he felt something strange.

His eyes changed—from three tomoe to six.

At the same time, he felt a connection to an unknown void. Instinctively, he understood that the gold needed to be placed into it.

When he did so, a memory flooded his mind—a supernatural ability called Blink.

It was not ninjutsu.

Blink allowed him to instantly exchange positions with any person or object within his sight. It did not consume chakra, but a different kind of energy altogether.

Later, he realized that this energy was similar to what the ninja world called nature energy. Calling it the "Naruto world" was misleading—this power belonged to nature itself, something any person could theoretically use. However, his ability was different.

It could not be taught, replicated, or shared.

It worked only through his unique power.

Over time, he used this ability five times in total.

Gold was extremely difficult to obtain—especially in a village filled with ninja, where most valuable materials were chakra metals and ninja-related resources. Still, even with limited opportunities, the rewards were immense.

From his second draw, he obtained the blueprint of the ship.

He also discovered an important rule: the greater the amount of gold offered, the higher the quality of the reward received from the void.

The best reward he had obtained so far came from his fifth transaction last year—a breathing method from another world.

The Demon Sword breathing techniques.

The scroll contained all breathing styles, but Toyoma had only practiced three so far: Sun Breathing, Fire, and Lightning. Unlike chakra techniques, this power could not be mastered instantly.

It required time, training, and physical adaptation.

Yet there was one crucial advantage.

These breathing methods could be taught.

Which meant he could pass them to his clan members.

A perfect tool for secretly building strength.

Now, with the support of Elder Setsuna, Toyoma could finally acquire gold in large quantities—enough to perform greater transactions and obtain far more powerful rewards.

And this was only the beginning.
