Ingira took a deep breath. "Blood."
The air froze.
"No," Jay replied sharply, without a second thought. "That's impossible."
Annie reflexively covered her mouth. Mira went pale. Even the other healers exchanged stunned, disbelieving looks.
"Animal blood," Ingira continued, her voice calm despite knowing how mad it sounded. "In small amounts. Fresh blood."
"That's unclean," one physician objected. "And disgusting," another added. "Her Grace would never agree to that," Mira said quickly, as if shielding Liv from the idea.
Jay clenched his fists. "Liv is human," he said coldly. "Not a creature that drinks blood."
Ingira did not argue. She merely turned her gaze to Liv, who had been silent on the bed all this time, her face pale but her eyes carefully watching each of them.
"Liv," Ingira said softly. "I won't force you. This is only a theory. But… I've run out of options."
