Liv went completely still.
It was as if the world vanished around her. No sound. No air. Only those words, hanging cold and merciless in her mind.
You were never meant to exist here.
Everything she had ever felt the sense of displacement, the strange dreams, the lingering feeling of being out of place suddenly took shape.
Her hand slowly moved to her stomach, but this time not to protect it only to make sure she was real.
Jay stepped closer, panic flooding his face at the sight of Liv's pallor.
"Liv, listen to me—"
But Liv didn't move.
She simply stood there, frozen, with one thought looping endlessly in her mind:
If I was never meant to exist…then who am I, really?
Liv stared at Jay without blinking.
"Do you…" her voice came out soft, on the verge of breaking, "do you truly hear me, Jay?"
