Chapter 9 - In the presence of the emperor:

The gates to the Imperial palatium laid wide as inside went--Flaytus. The prince and commander.

He walked in wearing his armor, hands anxiously grazing the edge of his sword, he moved like a storm. The palace staffs bowed to his presence. He went past them and reached the emperor's public quarter--the grandest part of the entire palace.

He reached the door, which was guarded by two Knights, they dropped their heads, "Master Flaytus" they murmured in unison.

"Open the door, the emperor summoned me" the knights nodded. Flaytus stood as the door parted--he went in.

Your majesty... he murmured, inching into the throne.

There the emperor sat, he was a man in his late forties. He wore a long, scribe like attire. Eyes--experienced like a hawk which were accompanied by a thick set of eyebrows. His hair was a lighter shade of red and grey--much different to Flaytus's black.

"Flaytus"...

Flaytus's eyes were to the ground, he didn't look up until he heard the word, "Excito"(Raise up) So he did. He swept his eyes up, meeting the emperor's gaze.

Emperor Agustus tilted his head as his fingers grazed the withering ends of his beard. "What is it Flaytus?" he asked, sensing the stillness.

Your majesty... it's an honor to meet your noble face.

"Flaytus, I'm asking on your wellbeing, you looked rather troubled?"

The raven-haired commander shook his head, "No, nothing of such" he replied. "I am merely grateful, your majesty"

His majesty's eyes narrowed yet he didn't press it. "Are you aware of why I summoned you?" Flaytus shook his head.

"No, your majesty, I myself am curious"

"I see"... Augustus then got up his throne--he stepped down, the thud of his boots fell against the marble floor.

He then stood in front of him, he saw Flatus's head fall once again. Agustus placed both his hand on his armored shoulder blades,

"You did a spectacular job, you pleased me, Flaytus"

The raven-haired boy's eyes shot up as the corner of his lips curled.

Outside the doors--Aristos stood. His hands grazed against the lower part of his armor as the door to the emperor's hall parted.

Out came Flaytus-his eyes fell to him. "Aristos"... a murmur.

"Master" he bowed slightly. "Are you waiting on his majesty's presence? should I ?"...

Aristos shook his head, "No need, I was waiting for you"

Flaytus nods* both men then walked off.

---

Later in the imperial terrace-- Flaytus and Aristos stood.

Flaytus hadn't wore his armor, instead, he wore a light, full sleeved, white shirt. The top buttons were left undone as the cold air seeped in through his chiseled chest.

Amber eyes glinting as he looks to his front. To his front was the city of Byzantium--it laid before him as if for him to see.

Suddenly--his jaw went tense, "We really did it"...

Master Aristos gazed at him, "Yes master"... a murmur. As strand of Flaytus's raven hair fell to the bridge of his nose.

"I thought I couldn't... we couldn't"

"But master... we did it" Aristos reminded him. Flaytus nods, he then chuckled, "How many times have I been beaten, turned down?"

His veiny arms clenched, "Oh... I lost count"

"Well not anymore, my master... from now on, everything you want will happen"

Flaytus shot him a look, "Everything?" his voice hung like a question.

Meanwhile in the inn--the serene sound of sleep filled the air. Eleanor petronella's eyes fluttered opened, she rose to her feet.

Giving a quick glance to Anastasia, she strode to the window. The warm glow of the moon spilled in through as she glanced up.

"How beautiful"... her voice trailed off. The light made her striking appearance more prominent. Giving a soft shade of pink to her cherry-tinted lips.

"So free"... she dazed.

---Flaytus's lips curled further, "Everything?"

Master Aristos nodded, "Anything"
