Chapter 287 - Chapter 287 — Chai Wang’s Scandal

Xu Mu first hung up the phone, then casually walked out of the room.

As the sound of the closing door echoed, Song Luoluo, who was showering, poked her head out from the bathroom.

She tapped her forehead lightly. Am I hearing things? Maybe it's the pregnancy messing with my head…

Quickly, she stepped out of the bathroom to check her phone—so long as it was still there, she'd be fine.

Human desire always grows alongside power and fame.

When she first started out, her only dream was to become a star—be adored by fans and make easy money.

But after achieving that, she didn't want to be controlled anymore.

Her first boyfriend, the deputy director who gave her her debut role, had videos of them together on his phone.

To stop others from holding that over her head, she had to keep climbing higher—gain enough status so no one could threaten her.

Now, everyone in the industry knew she had ties with a powerful figure like Chai Wang.

Those ex-boyfriends of hers would never dare release anything—not unless they wanted to die.

Even so, Song Luoluo's own phone hid plenty of Chai Wang's dirt.

And now, with his child in her belly, she held even more leverage.

Those were her true assets.

Meanwhile, Xu Mu had already left the hotel and returned to his car.

He called Chen Xuan, who quickly picked up.

"Brother Mu! I think I just saw another one of my fiancées—but I lost her. I'll keep looking and text you when I find her. She's all yours once I do."

"I'll help you, sure—but don't hand her off to me."

Xu Mu smiled into the phone.

Chen Xuan's luck with women was ridiculous. Beautiful women just kept appearing around him—Liang Yi was one, after all.

And if this "fiancée" of his was another, she was bound to be a stunner—every protagonist's woman was.

Once Chen Xuan hung up to chase his lead, Xu Mu got to work.

He trimmed down the video recording he'd captured at the hotel, edited it to the key few seconds, and then called Song Luoluo.

After a few rings, she answered—but said nothing.

"Miss Song Luoluo," Xu Mu said calmly, "I'll send you a short video. If you find it interesting, call me back."

He hung up immediately.

Then he sent her a short clip—just a few seconds long—through text.

It wasn't the easiest footage to edit; most of it was just… unnecessary content.

Unlike with Chen Cai's recording, there wasn't much usable material—this one was about ninety percent undressing.

Still, it was enough.

After sending the clip, Xu Mu drove toward the outskirts of Yang City.

Ten minutes later, his phone rang.

He answered.

"Hello."

"Who are you? Do you have any idea who that man was? Are you insane!?"

Song Luoluo's voice was cold and sharp.

"You don't need to worry about my life. I'm thinking of uploading this—let your fans see the real Song Luoluo."

Xu Mu's tone was teasing, almost amused.

"How much money do you want?"

"I don't want money. I just want to talk—alone. I'll send you the address."

He ended the call and parked on a quiet stretch of road in the suburbs.

For celebrities, nothing was more terrifying than a public image collapse.

He knew she'd come.

And sure enough, a few minutes later, a Mercedes S-Class pulled up behind his car.

Xu Mu didn't bother hiding his identity this time. He stepped out casually.

From his senses, he could tell—she was alone.

Song Luoluo frowned when she saw him. Of course she recognized his face.

Just days ago, the internet had exploded with news about the fake medicine scandal involving him. She had followed it like everyone else.

Originally, she hadn't planned to get out of the car—she feared it might be a kidnapping setup.

But when she saw it was Xu Mu, she relaxed a little. At least he wasn't short of money.

"Isn't this the young master of the Xu Group?"

She stepped out gracefully, flashing a sultry smile.

After all, seduction was her trademark charm.

"Get in," Xu Mu said simply, sliding back into his car.

She climbed into the passenger seat, crossing her legs elegantly.

"Young Master Xu, you're quite the romantic. A rich heir threatening a poor little actress like me?"

She laughed softly.

"To be honest, Miss Song," Xu Mu said sincerely, "I'm actually a fan of yours. Threatening you was just… desperation."

He meant it. Though, as a doctor, he could tell from the shape and bounce that most of her body was… augmented.

Fake—and at best, Emperor-tier quality.

Compared to someone like Xu Ningbing, she wasn't even in the same league.

He had no interest—he hated anything "artificial."

"Then what does Young Master Xu want?" she asked with a coy smile.

"You've probably heard I was publicly slandered not long ago?"

"Of course."

"The ones who smeared our company were the Chai family. You're aware of that, aren't you?"

At that, realization dawned on her face.

Back then, internet sleuths had uncovered how the Chai Group orchestrated the smear campaign.

The public backlash was so fierce their official pages had to shut down.

"So your target is Chai Wang?" she asked.

"Exactly. I brought you here to ask if you've got any dirt on him. After what I went through, revenge is only fair."

Xu Mu smiled faintly.

"Given how close you are to him, you must have something."

"I don't. Chai Wang is a very cautious man."

She shook her head quickly.

Of course she wasn't about to hand over anything. Chai Wang was her patron, and she was carrying his child.

The last thing she wanted was to see him fall.

"Alright then," Xu Mu said, waving his hand dismissively. "You can go."

"Young Master Xu… what about the video?"

"Oh, that? I'll post it, of course. It counts as dirt too. Since you won't give me anything else, I'll just release this."

He said it flatly, without hesitation.

Song Luoluo's mouth twitched.

And this man claims to be my fan?

"Young Master Xu~" she purred, laying a hand on his arm, her voice dripping with sweetness.

But Xu Mu only felt disgust. Especially after what she'd just done with Chai Wang.

"Get lost."

His voice turned cold.

"Don't bother me while I'm uploading the video. I'll pay for ad boosts if I have to—everyone in the country will know."

"You…"

She froze, unsure what to do.

Despite her fame, she was still nothing compared to a corporate heir like him.

"What's wrong? Don't like it?" Xu Mu sneered.

"That old bastard Chai Wang—I don't even take him seriously. You think you can act proud in front of me?"

His glare made her shrink back.

"Young Master Xu… I do have dirt on him. But it's on another phone. Please—let me go home and get it."

"What kind of dirt?"

Xu Mu's tone softened slightly.

"Chai Wang once forced himself on a female star at a private club," she confessed nervously. "She later committed suicide. I secretly recorded it."

She had no choice.

If she wanted to survive this, she had to sacrifice Chai Wang.
