Chapter 209 - Chapter 209 — Your Eldest Son Is Dead

Feng Jian couldn't understand. Until recently, he'd often heard his mother, Chen Cai, badmouth Xu Mu.

Just a few days ago, she had even manipulated others to try and kill him.

So why was Xu Mu suddenly rescuing his mother now?

Could there really be some hidden relationship between them—some twisted "love turned to hate"?

"You're overthinking it. Give me your mother's number and go."

Xu Mu couldn't be bothered to explain—especially not to Feng Jian.

If he told him the truth—that his real goal was to destroy the Feng family—Feng Jian would never cooperate.

Everything he wanted, only the Feng family could provide.

Their destruction would be the last thing Feng Jian wished to see.

Feng Jian nodded and sent the number to Xu Mu before driving away.

Xu Mu got back in the car and said to Meng Wanyue, "Wanyue, we're heading to the Feng estate."

"Understood, Mr. Xu."

She nodded softly.

Before long, they arrived at the Feng family manor.

But instead of using the main gate, they circled to the back of the estate.

Using his Divine Sense, Xu Mu detected Chen Cai on the second floor, sitting in a bedroom—staring blankly at the tiny smartwatch she held.

"Wanyue," he said, "help me rescue someone. She's in that villa."

"Understood, Mr. Xu. What's the plan? Should I take out the security cameras again?"

"No need. This time, just go straight in—jump up there, break the window, and pull her out. Just keep your identity hidden."

He handed her a black mask.

Meng Wanyue nodded, put it on, and got out of the car.

"That middle window," Xu Mu pointed.

"Got it."

Meng Wanyue dashed forward, leaping off the wall. With agile grace, she vaulted up to the second floor.

Releasing a burst of Hidden Force, she shattered both the glass and the metal guard bars in one motion—then slipped inside.

Chen Cai, still sitting at the desk, froze in terror at the masked intruder's sudden appearance.

Before she could even speak, Meng Wanyue grabbed her arm and leapt back out the window.

Using the wall as a foothold, she dropped to the ground outside.

The estate guards, hearing the crash, rushed over immediately.

Spotting the broken window, some alerted Feng Kang, while others began to search the grounds.

Xu Mu drove off down the back road with the two women in tow.

"Xu Mu… thank you."

Chen Cai's voice trembled. She glanced at Meng Wanyue in awe—so this woman was a martial artist. No wonder her earlier attempt to hire Dai Xiao for help had failed.

"Madam," Xu Mu said flatly, eyes on the mirror, "you have five days. I want evidence—Feng Kang's dirt. Otherwise, you know what happens."

"Alright."

Chen Cai nodded heavily.

She had no choice. Dai Xiao was already dead—why would Feng Kang let her live?

After decades together, she knew his nature well.

He was a cautious man. In a case like this, he wouldn't kill her right away—that would make him the prime suspect.

He'd imprison her first, wait for the storm to pass, then finish her quietly.

But Chen Cai refused to wait for death. She needed to strike first.

If she could send Feng Kang and Feng Ruili to prison, she'd finally be safe.

"Brother Xu," Chen Cai said softly, "once this is over, I hope you'll protect me."

"You're not qualified to bargain with me," Xu Mu replied coldly. "Earn that right—after they're gone."

He stopped the car by the roadside. "Get out."

He had no interest in staying around this woman any longer. Saving her was only a means to accelerate the Feng family's downfall—and to prepare the way for Feng Yue to inherit their assets.

As long as the marriage wasn't dissolved, Chen Cai would remain Feng Kang's legal wife. Even with a will in place, she would still receive her share.

By saving her now, Xu Mu ensured she could stand by Feng Yue's side later, lending her legitimacy and protection.

"Thank you," Chen Cai said quietly before stepping out of the car.

Once outside, she immediately pulled out her smartwatch and made a call.

After so many years in the Feng household, she had, of course, planted her own people.

Yang City First Hospital

After being transferred from the previous facility, Dai Xingluo was now receiving treatment here. Her surgery was over.

Lying in a private VIP ward, she scrolled idly through her phone.

She was filled with regret—she still didn't have Xu Mu's contact information.

Just then, Li Zizai entered the room, smiling, a string of prayer beads wrapped around his hand.

"I'm this hurt, and you still look so pleased?" Dai Xingluo shot him a glance.

"You don't know, miss," Li Zizai said with a grin, sitting beside her. "The doctors here are amazed. They've never seen anyone recover like you."

He chuckled. "Based on your previous hospital's records, your ribs were fractured—but now they're merely cracked. The staff even suspect the earlier diagnosis was wrong."

"It must've been the pill Xu Mu gave me," Dai Xingluo said, remembering his words. "I can still feel energy circulating inside me."

"A blessing in disguise," Li Zizai smiled. "The doctor said you'll be fully recovered in a few days—and with all the treasures you've acquired, you might even reach mid-stage Gang Qi soon."

Just then, the door opened.

A middle-aged man with a cropped haircut stepped in. His cheeks were thin, eyes sharp—his whole bearing exuded authority.

Li Zizai immediately stood. "Mr. Dai."

It was none other than Dai Xuan, the head of the Dai family—Dai Xingluo's father.

Dai Xuan glanced at Li Zizai. "Leave us."

Li Zizai nodded and exited, closing the door behind him.

Dai Xingluo kept her head down, scrolling her phone. "Why are you here?"

"I heard you were hurt. As your father, of course I came to see you."

He approached, voice low and steady. "What happened?"

"I got beaten," she said simply, not looking up.

"You're in the Gang Qi Realm. For someone to injure you, they must be no ordinary person. Who was it?"

"Instead of worrying about me," she said coldly, "you'd better worry about your eldest son."

Dai Xingluo put down her phone. "Dai Xiao is dead."

"What?"

Dai Xuan's face went pale. "What happened?"

"He came to me saying he'd found a place with spiritual treasures and wanted me to go with him. Then he provoked a master at the Mystic Art Realm and got slapped to death."

She summarized it bluntly.

Dai Xingluo despised the Dai family—but she loathed her father's two wives even more.

She had sworn to kill those women one day.

It was because of their scheming that her own mother had been denied life-saving treatment with precious spiritual materials when she was gravely ill.

"Do you know who that expert was?"

Dai Xuan's face was grim.

Dai Xiao had caused plenty of trouble, but he was still his eldest son.

"I don't know," Dai Xingluo said. "That old man didn't mean to kill him—it was an accident. But there was also a hired assassin involved. I think she was there for Dai Xiao."

"An assassin… could it be—?"

Realization flashed in Dai Xuan's eyes. There was only one man ruthless enough to do that—

Feng Kang.
