I blew the air out in front of me three times, trying to calm my frantic heartbeat.
My thumb brushed the edge of my lips again, worried my lipstick had smudged or bled. It hadn't.
Truthfully, I was just stalling, dragging out my time getting ready so I wouldn't have to leave the room where Rafael was already waiting in the living room.
Why was my heart racing like a teenager about to go on her first date with her crush?
Viona! This wasn't a date. It was a party to catch a criminal. It was work. Just work. Yeah, we were working to take down the bad guy.
But no matter how much I told myself that, it didn't erase the fact that I had spent two whole hours choosing a dress I liked, a dress I wanted to wear, and sure, it would impress Rafael. Why would I even do that?
I shook my head, trying to clear my unfamiliar thoughts.
