Third Person POV
"Argh…" Roman stared at his reflection in the mirror, touching the fading bruise on his jaw.
He had not expected Rafael to turn so feral, like a man possessed, beating him into a pulp.
He winced, eyes narrowing as the thought struck him that Rafael himself might be the devil.
He'd had to fake passing out just to make him stop. If Rafael's underling had not intervened, Roman might have actually passed out, his jaw shattered beyond repair.
Roman knew all too well that Rafael had harbored deep feelings for Viona since middle school. They'd been casual friends in childhood, nothing more.
But everything changed after Rafael's parents died and the Kingston name started losing its shine. Roman had tried to be empathetic back then, even if Rafael didn't want it. Yet, Rafael withdrew from him completely.
