Viona's POV
Jane curled her lips to the side and blinked in confusion.
"Ah, right, you didn't want to get information about her, so I didn't tell you.
"Yeah, I haven't dived deep into their domestic mess, but based on what my grandma said, Caroline somehow forced Vivian to give them a male heir.
"And during that gut-wrenching moment of mother-in-law curses and gossip, she slipped her tongue and mentioned the sickly granddaughter."
I listened carefully to Jane's explanation, my chest tightening at the mention that Vivian's only child was ill and that she… well, she had dug her own grave, hadn't she?
Becoming a Housley had been her dream from the start, so she should have known the consequences. And apparently, she had reaped what she sowed.
"Are you worried about her?" Jane asked after hearing my heavy sigh.
I uncrossed my legs and stood up, grabbing a few files on the table that needed my signature, stalling while weighing her question. Could I not answer it?
